What limits the student attendance is getting our butts handed to us in the first game every season by a top 10 team. Going more than a decade without a season opener at home is ridiculous.

Thoughts from the first week of football
Mean Green Matt replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Football
For perceptions sake, we (meaning CUSA) need our FCS move up to beat the SBC FCS move-up. I'll be rooting for CUSA teams all season as long as they're not playing NT. I also hope the Sun Belt loses every OOC game they play (except for ours). -
Bingo. +1

Thoughts from the first week of football

I have to root for UTSA. I don't like them, but I absolutely despise the Sun Belt and everything associated with it (except for NT...for one more year). -
There is a volleyball game the same night. Hopefully enough people come out to support these teams to where both games sell out. That would require about 1700 people. The vball team went to 6-1 today. These ladies represent NT just like all of the other teams and they deserve the support of the community.

Putting Penn State on Upset Watch

We came within a 4th and 16 stop of beating Ohio back in 2008 or 2009. -
Putting Penn State on Upset Watch

I prefer the Boise model to what we do now. I'd be a fan of a ZERO "money" game policy. Ohio caught Penn State at just the right time though. -
SMU is: the snotty private school that no regular person in Dallas cares anything about.

The blocked extra point against UL-Laffyette in a 28-27 loss still haunts me.

This makes me want to throw up. I heard from another NT grad earlier that says LSU has their allegiance...does this happen at other schools too?

7:00pm on Friday, September 7th. Mean Green Soccer Stadium I am getting this started a week early. This is possibly the biggest home game of the year. NT is undefeated. Baylor's only loss is to #15 LBSU 2-1 in OT...in Long Beach. NT beat Baylor the last time the two played in Denton on a rain soaked night in September 2009 by a score of 2-1. That was John Hedlund's 200th Victory. I cannot express how excited I am about this game. If you are in the area for the football game, or just live around Denton, come out and support this team. This should be a sell-out. Who's in?

Thanks. Saw this after I posted earlier. Massive stretch coming up against Baylor, LBSU (at TAMU), OSU (at TAMU), and TCU. Good win tonight, as it should have been. It looks like NT outshot TSU literally by a margin of 50. It is good to know we did not play down to their level.

Yes, the live stats are available...When I'm able to make the game I try and give a little more detail about game flow and how the goals are scored. The live stats do not always to the game justice...of course, for people who are interested, the best alternative is to actually go to the game.

Do you believe in miracles? YES! NOOOOOOORTH!!

The game is tonight at the Mean Green Soccer Stadium. 7:00pm. This should not be a difficult win tonight. The SWAC schools are traditionally mediocre at best in soccer and that is being nice. Anything can happen though, it's a crazy game (anyone remember the 2-0 USA victory over Spain in the 2009 Confederations Cup?). Unfortunately, I will not be able to provide updates for this one, as I had an unavoidable conflict, however I strongly encourage anybody in the area to go out and support this team, which could be something special come mid-November. After tonight, the team will head to Grambling for a Sunday game. ONE WEEK FROM TODAY IS THE BIGGEST GAME OF THE SEASON AGAINST BAYLOR. EVERYONE SHOULD POSTPONE THEIR ACTIVITIES ON THE HILL FOR HALF AN HOUR AND COME SEE THIS TEAM PLAY A POTENTIALLY RANKED TEAM AT HOME. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS NOT TO BE A SELL OUT AND ATTENDANCE RECORD BREAKER. Go Mean Green!

Coach "Mac" on Channel 5 with newy
Mean Green Matt replied to GreenBat's topic in Mean Green Football
I like the fact that he isn't delusional or hiding the fact that it's been a rough few years. Instead, he commits himself to doing everything he can to change the attitude and perception of NT. Some others schools cannot "boast" the same level of sanity though... -
Mean Green Soccer - Ranked #9 in NSCAA South Region
Mean Green Matt replied to UNTDude's topic in Mean Green Athletics
Still very early, but this team has a lot of potential. The first real (nationally relevant) tests will come against LBSU and OSU down in College Station. -
Niko?

I'm hoping that due to the LSU legal counsel's lack of common english skills and general intelligence, that a clause in the game contract specifying that Hurricanes are an acceptable cause for non-payment was not included, and therefore when "the swamp" becomes a literal swamp and the game cannot occur, that LSU can simply write their check, and we move on with an 11-game season, no serious injuries, and our first season opener at home in over a decade.

School Spirit compared to 14 years ago. Thanks Rick V!

The soccer team had never had a losing season at that point....and they still haven't 12-14 years later. -
