THECB Vote on NT Union Fee (Maybe not good)
Mean Green Matt replied to Mean Green Matt's topic in Mean Green Football
1. We need a new Student Union because the current one was built for 17,000 students. Fact. 2. The students voted to pay for the new union with a student fee. Fact. 3. The students were educated on the cost and scale of the project. If they were too stupid or "cool" to participate in the election, they can screw off and take their complaining somewhere else. Fact. 4. If our students want to pay for a shiny new building, Austin needs to get the F*** out of the way. Fact. Whatever nonsense GL2G is spewing is irrelevant to this issue. -
Is DMN attendance for SMU a misprint?

THECB Vote on NT Union Fee (Maybe not good)
Mean Green Matt replied to Mean Green Matt's topic in Mean Green Football
NEWSFLASH: This is not about funding or anything of the sort. NT students voted to pay for this. The dimwits in Austin have no business getting in the way. The money NT students voted to input into the university will not be put to other uses, it just won't ever make it to the university because of this decision. Secondly, GL2G obviously never took a technical writing course during his tenure at SMU... -
THECB Vote on NT Union Fee (Maybe not good)
Mean Green Matt replied to Mean Green Matt's topic in Mean Green Football
For what it's worth, we do have options here. It's possible that SGA could get involved and fight on behalf of the students wishes, which was to build the new union. The morons in Austin apparently want the project scaled back. We need to build this for the future though, which is why it was going to cost so much... It would probably be the best student union in the state....that might have something to do with it. Of course, they had no problem letting A&M spend $125 million on theirs. -
I'm not calling for anyones head at all. Just saying we should expect to be competitive in games like this.
-
That's a fair point, althought NT03 has a good point as well that the game was meaningless last year. Particularly for MTSU, whereas our guys were playing for Lance to get the rushing record.
-
I'm not only excited about Berglund's arm, but also his speed. That should help a lot.
-
Even if we don't have the players, in this conference, against a .500 team, we should not get our butts handed to us that badly. I'm not saying we should have blown out MTSU, but certainly the game should not have been over after the first quarter, which happens so often with this team, after 10 days to prepare. That is on the coaches.
-
When you look around this conference, we need to raise our expectations now, and quit this "well, we are heading in the right direction crap". I know there are some on here that think criticism is a bad thing, but that game was a complete embarassment along with the UH game that should have been competitive, and the Troy game we should have won easily.

Compared to our previous staff and our athletic budget they are.

It all starts up Wednesday. The most successful program in NT history will look to leave the Sun Belt on top, following up on their regular season championship (regardless of what the MTSU fighting unicorns say). The tourney will be hosted in Mobile by South Alabama. Here is the tourney bracket. Wednesday (all times CT): Game 1 - #1 North Texas vs. #8 Florida Atlantic - 10:00am Game 2 - #4 Western Kentucky vs. #5 Arkansas State - 1:00pm Game 3 - #3 Florida International vs. #6 Troy - 4:00pm Game 4 - #2 Middle Tennessee vs. #7 South Alabama (HOST) - 7:00pm Friday: Game 5: Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner - 4:00pm Game 6: Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 winner - 7:00pm Sunday: Game 7 - Game 5 Winner vs. Game 6 Winner - 1:00pm The only team to beat NT this year was WKU (in Bowling Green). That would be a semifinal matchup. The only team to tie NT was FIU (1-1 in Denton), and those two teams would not face until the final. No one outside of the top four seeds worries me, but it is soccer, so anything can happen. Go Mean Green!
-
It would have been a long shot still, but a two possession game certainly would have given the last 5 minutes a different feel.
-
I'm shocked Osborn didn't even get a chance to show what he could do. The only times we have seen him he has done pretty darn good, but never had a shot when it was even relatively significant, and that is unfortunate.
-
Bingo. I hated that Mac come in here, said we were too small, too slow, and the turnaround wasn't going to happen overnight. He should have come in here, balled up, and said we are gonna go out there and try to win now. Lafayette isn't on the five year plan...Hudspeth won in his first year. The same thing for Hugh Freeze at Arkansas State. This has to be one of the only programs in the country where the fan base automatically grants the coach five years to be successful. These are games we should be winning (or at least not getting our butts handed to us) right now. It is irrelevant how bad the team was two years ago, or what was left over. That does not seem to be a problem for most other teams.
-
This excuse becomes unuseable in how many decades?
-
Umm.....this is a symptom of a highly paid coaching staff not having the team even remotely ready to play ON TEN DAYS REST for a game that could have ultimately left us sitting at home come bowl time rather than an excuse for the attitude of our team throughout the rest of the game.

THECB Vote on NT Union Fee (Maybe not good)
Mean Green Matt replied to Mean Green Matt's topic in Mean Green Football
Thanks for posting that. I was hoping there was a staff member on here that could post the actual email. I really hope NT fights this and tries to get it overturned rather than scaling down the project. What they are planning on building is what we need. It is not over the top. Its about time that Austin quits voting to hold us back even when our own students voted for it. -
THECB Vote on NT Union Fee (Maybe not good)
Mean Green Matt replied to Mean Green Matt's topic in Mean Green Football
Get ready for the fight bro. I think the NT administration is going to fight this as well. We need students, alumni, and everyone else to send emails, phone calls, anything to get this overturned. It is completely reversing one of the most significant votes in NT history, second only to the football stadium (a decision austin screwed with as well).
