UT loses to Div. II Chaminade on National TV
Mean Green Matt replied to LakeTravis's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Cleveland State only beat UAH by two even after they beat us, soundin the alarm that teams needed to be prepared against them. The team was unprepared and poorly coached, which led to a loss in a game we should have won easily, but just because UAH is division 2 does not mean they are incapable of playing good basketball. -
Ladies only down 4 against Alabama!

Anyone else notice how excited he gets....when the other team does something good. Impartiality makes him a good broadcaster though. -
UT loses to Div. II Chaminade on National TV

At least Alabama-Huntsville was ranked #3 in D2. Chaminade was not even receiving votes. As bad as the loss to UAH was, I think there are plenty of division one teams they would beat, we just should not have been one of them. -
Those Uniforms Posted in the Gallery are Sweet!
Mean Green Matt replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in Mean Green Football
You do realize that the acronym the athletic department uses is "NT" And not UNT, right? That makes their refusal to get rid of North Texas on the helmets even more baffling. If I were RV and Mac said he didn't like the uniforms I would tell him his job is to win football games and to deal with it. Mac's refusal to do anything interesting with our uniforms is baffling as well. More than just "big time" programs do interesting stuff with uniforms. -
Yes and no. At least Southern MIss is in the Sun Belt footprint. With the Big East losing an AQ spot and subsequently the AQ money, and will see a significant decrease in TV money as well, they are becoming a less and less desireable option for teams obviously out of the footprint. The Big East has 100% come back to the pack. The ACC has managed to stay connected to the top tier. The Big 12, Pac 12, Big 10/12/14 and SEC are the clear frontrunners at this point.

I highly doubt TSU will go to the mountain west.

KenPom is a moron. If we score 75 and they score 68 I give us a 100% chance of winning. -
People underestimate how much a Derek Thompson with even middle of the road speed would change this offense.

Who gives a crap? Are there schools judging us over our chants that we should care about? The band is enthusiastic and contributes to the atmosphere if they are yelling regardless of what they are chanting. It's better than them siting there silent except for when they're playing their instruments.

I'm not sure this guy is worth the ad revenue he is generating...

I'm not positive, but I don't think WKU has been the clear conference favorite on volleyball over the last few years. Either way, great season for our team. A program that really struggled for many years nearly went out on top just like soccer. I'm also very curious to see the Bubas cup standings. I'd be shocked if we aren't #1 or #2 right now. Rhnkfully football counts the same as every other sport and not more.

It's better than not winning the western division, isn't it?

If we do make it through, the likely opponent will be region #1 seed Florida State...which would be a very, very tough game, and, as I understand it would be hosted in Tallahassee. -
This attitude is something I disagree with strongly in principle. At the core of it, this is a message board for a collection of sports teams. Of course people are going to get frustrated (I am), overreact (guilty on occasion), and generally say a lot of things they wouldn't say normally (something I personally try to avoid). Regardless, almost everyone on here has some sort of investment in to this program whether it be emotional, financial, or time, which fuels the passion, and inherently (as is part of our existence as NT fans) frustration. I actually think this is a harmless place to vent frustration, because nobody important (other than our AD from time to time) reads this board or cares what any of us say.

It is a winnable game, just wish it was closer. SFA had a higher RPI than us, but in my opinion get the tougher game in College Station. Baylor must have some sort of scheduling conflict, because they are a no brainer host. Shame they didn't send the bears to Denton. This team can compete with just about anyone, so it should be interesting. Go Mean Green! -
It is painfully obvious Chico has nothing to do with the offense. Mac is a terrible offensive coach and needs to get out of the way and let someone with proven offensive results take over. Handing it off up the middle 3 out of 4 plays is not cutting it. On the defensive side, where are all the aggressive blitzes and defensive schemes skladany was supposed to implement? Yes, frustration is mounting on all sides.

Selection show in less than four hours. Really hoping we play within driving distance. -

First round will take place this Friday through Sunday (November 9-11) at the home of the higher seeds. The selection show is tomorrow at 3:30pm CT and will be streamed live on NCAA.com. 30 bids are automatic and 34 bids are at large. Here is the complete list of automatic qualifiers. North Texas ranks 15th out of the 30 qualified teams so far. Assuming all at large bids will be higher seeds than us, that put us in the 12-13 seed range...we could get a little help from winning our conference and get a boost. Regional matchups also play big in to the seeding. I could see us being a 13-14 seed and playing Baylor, a 3-4 seed. We will find out tomorrow. Automatic Qualifiers: Sun Belt - North Texas (56) America East - Stony Brook (154) Atlantic 10 - La Salle (51) ACC - Virginia (8) Atlantic Sun - Florida Gulf Coast (66) Big 12 - Baylor (11) - Potential 1st Round Opponent - Defeated TCU 4-1 in the final. NT tied Baylor and lost 1-0 to TCU in the regular season. Big East - Marquette (22) Big Sky - Idaho State (200) Big South - Radford (117) Big 10 - Ohio State (16) Big West - Cal State Northridge (55) Colonial - Hofstra (110) Conference USA - UCF (19) Horizon Leaque - Milwaukee (138) Ivy League - Princeton (43) Metro Atlantic - Loyola Maryland (150) MAC - Miami-Ohio (52) Missouri Valley - Illinois State (119) Mountain West - San Diego State (5) Northeast - LIU Brooklyn (201) Ohio Valley - UT Martin (143) PAC 12 - Stanford (1) Patriot - Colgate (112) SEC - Florida (9) Southern - Georgia Southern (205) Southland - Stephen F. Austin (38) SWAC - Mississippi Valley State (289) Summit - Oakland (148) West Coast - BYU (6) WAC - Utah State (85) -

My best guess would be playing in Waco against Baylor. Not an expert though. We should have a pretty high seed, and with an RPI of 56 out of 323, I wonder if we could actually host, although I doubt it. When I say high seed, I mean relative to what our teams usually get, not high as in tops in the tournament. -
Feels good just starting a topic with the words "NCAA Tourney" in it. Mean Green will find out their opponent tomorrow. We should have a good seed, but with soccer, regional scheduling is a big deal. My best guess would be taking on Baylor in Waco. Wherever it is, it will be an on-campus site rather than a neutral location. North Texas has an RPI of 56 out of 323. Way to Go Mean Green!

With the record this team has...and the way we played in OOC, we should get a pretty good seed for the tournament. Selection show is tomorrow evening. -
