  1. Looks like Dallas will not be getting one of the Hexagonal home games...which isn't a shock because US soccer tries to schedule the games in places where the other teams won't have many fans. It's looking like: June 11th vs. Panama - Seattle, WA - Century Link Field (where the Seahwawks and Sounders play...should be a 70,000 pro-American crowd) June 18th vs. Honduras - Salt Lake City, UT - Rio Tinto Stadium (soccer-specific and seats about 20,000) September 10th vs. Mexico - Columbus, OH - Crew Stadium (soccer specific seats about 25,000...this one usually gets the Mexico game...known for 2-0 USA wins) October 11th vs. Jamaica - Kansas City, KS - LiveStrong Sporting Park (great venue with about 20,000 seats...stronghold so far for USA soccer) In other news, Dallas and Houston are venues for the 2013 Gold Cup, but no schedule released quite yet...chances of the USA playing down here are slim as they schedule to increase attendnace, meaning the central american teams usually get the games in the southern USA.
  2. It's too bad he is calling it quits, and hopefully it isn't just because he revealed he is gay. The injuries have probably taken their toll and he wants to try something else. He was a great player for Columbus and found himself just on the brink of the US National team at times. I think he has somewhere around 20 caps and nearly made the 2010 world cup roster. Best of luck to him...if he ever decides to pick up soccer again, I'm sure finding a spot with an MLS club will not be a problem.
  3. My money is on Brady.
  4. Suck it Maestri. You've been Benford'D.
  5. Women getting blown out at halftime by a terrible Troy team.
  6. Women down early....apparently Troy beat MTSU...not sure how that happened because I want to say NT blew Troy out of the gym last time they played.
  7. I think that's a little on the negative side. I see anwhere from 4-8 wins depending on QB play and what kind of team shows up for us (which I guess is sort of a duh comment). If the disaster does happen and we get only two wins does McCarney come back for year 4? Would we even have the money for that after we buy out Benford?
  8. Benford and McCarney must be having meetings about recruiting strategy.
  9. ASU brings about 0% excitement for the vast majority of North Texas fans. Of course there a few people that seem to have some affinity for the Red Wolves, but that is not representative of the fanbase. Anything coming from the Sun Belt is bad for the perception of this move. I wish FAU and FIU had stayed put. NT and MT (who I would argue to be the best overall program in the SBC) would have been just fine with me.
  10. Hopefully ASU ULL and WKU all stay where they're at. We don't need to water down CUSA anymore.
  11. Favor from McCarney it looks like...since it make absolutely no sense to whore ourselves out like that. Iowa is a school we should be getting a return from.
  12. Goats. Gross.
  13. Benford will get fired the same day we reveal our cool new football uniforms.
  14. Articles written by people like this hurt our reputation as a "solid, growing academic university"...replacing a crumbling 60 year-old stadium with a quality football facility we can all be proud of does not.
  15. They need at add baseball and softball back as well.
  16. Despite his age we could really use Landom Donovan in my opinion. He is still plenty good to help this team.
  17. I was just assuming the New Zealand would take it. They are #3 on my soccer rooting list (behind distant #1 USA and #2 Ireland), and I do not see them losing (or tying) new caledonia at home, Plus there is a round of games the week after that would make it come down to GD. As for Hex predictions, mine are still the same as when it all started. 1. Mexico - Despite the tie I still don't see them finishing below 1st. 2. USA - Really where we belong until we can pull our stuff together...Mexico has amassed a very talented team. 3. Honduras - I think they manage to get in without Jonathan Bornstein this time. 4. Costa Rica - Off to play the Kiwis again. (EDIT: Nevermind, the playoff was with CONMEBOL last cycle...) 5. Panama - Just don't think they'll be able to sneak into the Top for even with FCD striker Blas Perez. 6. Jamaica - Raggae Boyz can't concentrate long enough to qualify. I as well could be dead wrong. Could see any of the bottom 4 flip flopping to anwhere else. Realistically, in some order, the USA and Mexico ought to be 1 and 2.
  18. Indiana will probably stay at #1 after beating Ohio State today in Columbus.
  19. It might be a generational thing, but I've never understood people who think Michael Jackson was a good performer. I could only get through a couple minutes of that before I had to turn it off.
  20. I'm not doubting that we will qualify in the end...it just might be a little painful to watch. The team is very streaky. Honduras is a tough place to play unless you like getting batteries thrown at you.
  21. I know we have some soccer fans on here (and some others that hate it) so I figured I'd start a thread. In another sports FML that NT fans are so used to, the USA lost to Honduras in San Pedro Sula 2-1 on Wednesday. They are in the "Hexagonal" Stage now. There are 6 teams (USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, and Jamaica). You play every team home and away. The three teams with the most points qualify for the world cup, and the fourth place team will have to play New Zealand in a home/away series to get there. That puts the USA in last place through 10% of the final round of qualifying. The other two games ended in ties. So as of now: Team - Points --> Goal Differential (Goals Scored) 1. Honduras - 3 --> +1 (2) T2. Costa Rica - 1 --> 0 (2) T2. Panama - 1 --> 0 (2) T4. Mexico - 1 --> 0 (0) T4. Jamaica - 1 --> 0 (0) 6. USA - 0 --> -1 (1) Next game is at home vs. Costa Rica (Denver, CO) in late March.
  22. Bad athletics make the academics look bad. Welcome to reality. The only exceptions are schools like Rice...wait, nevermind they have baseball...and Duke...wait, nevermind they have basketball. MIT and Caltech are good examples.
  23. Bingo. If this team had taken care of business we would be getting 6-7000 at games right now. The students were just waiting for something to go crazy about, and then the kick to the nuts called Alabama-Huntsville happened.
  24. I'm waiting for this to be cancelled by our genius (sarcasm) administration. Whatever moron reacted without thinking in putting the alcohol ban on fraternities will probably get involved in this too.
