  1. Derek had an unbelievable game...I think for many it will be a relief to see him perform like that against someone other than Idaho though. I can't remember whose post I saw that mentioned this, but I do agree having the extra competition this year, particularly from Dajon Williams, just may have lit an extra bit of fire in Thompson. Keep it up Derek!
  2. What is sad is I'm not sure we even hit .500 against that list of teams.
  3. Me and my wife looked in to this when we got married but she ultimately decided against it. She is such a good sport with regard to NT sports in general, so I can't complain. Congrats on the engagement!
  4. Yeah...ESPN said this was the fourth year in a row they've beaten an FBS team...I believe it was Kansas, Minnesota, Colorado State, and now Kansas State.
  5. And they don't have an average FCS fanbase either. You could see how well they travelled to Manhattan. They have played Sam Houston State in Frisco for the FCS title two years in a row. Both times the NDSU fans greatly outnumbered the SHSU fans. I would estimate there were about 14,000 NDSU fans at FC Dallas stadium in January. It was crazy.
  6. Wake forest scores 5 minutes from the end of OT to win it 2-1. Disappointing, but really, really proud of the effort on the road a long way from home against a top 10 team.
  7. You are probably right on the delay...15 minutes in its still 0-0.
  8. They must be running behind or something...my match tracker is still in pregame mode.
  9. Yeah, my bad...the ellipses got me...I certainly did read it wrong, but I have no idea why you would think I was "attempting to knock you".
  10. I don't know....assumptions are dangerous things to make for us NT fans....
  11. This kind of blanket defense of Benford is appalling to me. He is in charge of the freaking program. Everything is his fault in one way or another. It is not always direct, but he is responsible for the people he recruits in exactly the same way an average supervisor in the business world is responsible for the people they hire. That does not mean he should be fired if a kid does something stupid but it also doesn't mean that the collective actions are the program are not his responsibility. That's part of being a head coach, and a reason why it would have been fantastic to have hired someone who experienced that before.
  12. While it has improved, the marketing/branding of the university in general is weak (at least in my opinion)...which is astounding, considering the kind of branding and PR experts we have teaching in our own school of journalism.
  13. Yes, but at least the most successful program in school history has a representative on the list.
  14. Needless to say this will be the first major test of the season on the road against a top 10 team. Wake Forest is undefeated and has already beat two SEC teams (UK and Alabama) by a combined five goals. This one is available on game tracker. The link below should get anyone to it. Kickoff at 5pm CDT. http://www.wakeforestsports.com/gametracker/launch/gt_wsoccer.html?event=1256576&school=wake&sport=wsoccer&camefrom=&startschool=&
  15. Thanks, Harry. Haven't had much time recently to follow NT, but had to make sure I was back by football season!
  16. People stay outside and tailgate at every school. As the culture changes we will see more people come in. The most important part by far is winning.
  17. Why don't they just turn this in to premium "student" seating where tickets are made available to students for very cheap...say $30 or so for the season, but they're technically just buying other seats rather than getting student tickets. Eventually we should get to a point where 1,200 students are willin to pay $5 a game for the good seats.
  18. Exciting start to Holden's career!
  19. I would strongly recommend it. Tickets are cheap, team plays hard, and it's a great facility to watch soccer in (no track around the field like a lot of college soccer facilities have).
  20. Home opener. HBU appears to be a much better team than TSU. They already gave Tulsa a run for their money this season....on a side note, saw on the HBU website they have a football team...I guess every school with a pulse is starting one of those these days.
  21. The ladies are up 8-1 with 17 minutes to play. Not that Texas Southern was expected to be a good match-up, but its nice to see the team taking care of business.
  22. Good to hear some of the younger players look poised to step up. The CUSA tournament is in Houston this year, so hopefully that means a decent NT crowd. Colorado College, the sort of oddball in the conference looks to have a good team, so avoiding them would be helpful. On a side note, I really hope the NT athletic department manages to win a bid for the soccer tournament again sometime soon so the team (which has had a growing following for the last few years) can play in front of their home crowd.
  23. Andy Enfield. Head coaching experience? Check. Proven winner? Check. Tony Benford. (Crickets)
  24. How anyone can defend Benford is insane to me. He ran basically the same team that JJ took to the SBC final the year before through the ground and into the sports abyss. He has no clue what he is doing. This is yet another failed hire (unless Benford suddenly figures out how to do more with less).
