  1. They're a little busy playing for a true national championship decided on the field.
  2. What a relief that our target is so far off of everyone else's radar!
  3. This. I was scrolling through to see if someone had already made this point or not and I'm glad you did. What happened was embarrassing for the team, but I think the assumptions that people are making about his future are out of line.
  4. I'm not necessarily opposed to Applewhite, but hiring an OC from someone we (generally) consider to be on. our level seems a little strange though. But que sera sera.
  5. That MVSU game can't get here soon enough.
  6. Right when you think you've seen it all....
  7. I'm sorry but I refuse to count either of the first two as actual wins.
  8. 56-85? I'm by no means suggesting Iowa State is an easy place to win, but if you've completely turned around a program you aren't still 30 games under .500.
  9. If we have a hard time keeping it together against Idaho, Northern Iowa is going to absolutely annihilate us.
  10. Contract extension for RV if he can get Les Miles?
  11. Brown just checked back in. :)
  12. Brown is on the bench still in his uniform and looks relatively fine except for walking a little gingerly. Actually looks like he wants to go back in.
  13. Impossible to answer, but I would have preferred a 0-0 career (2-3 interim after taking over a mess) head coaching record to 56-85...
  14. We are actually ranked #31 right now in the coaches poll. Probably won't crack the Top 25 during the regular season, but if the ladies were to win the conference tournament, there's an (albeit somewhat slim) chance of actually hosting a first round game in Denton. A long way to go for that, but just some perspective that the team has worked its way into a little bit a relevance nationally.
  15. Hopefully the Rangers can mentally rebound from whatever happened in the ninth inning yesterday.
  16. The only QB controversy I'm aware of is the apparent inability of this coaching staff to recruit one.
  17. Sometimes I'm surprised when these sort of complaints occur. The coaches and players have to endure far less scrutiny and criticism at North Texas than at say Texas, Oklahoma, or even TCU. Heck, we really only have one true member of the media that spends any material portion of his time covering NT football, and that media member does not publish many hard hitting criticisms of the program. As a whole, I think the NT fan base is rational, and given the results of the past decade, those that are still around are extremely loyal and dedicated and would love nothing more than for things to miraculously turn around starting this week @ USM.
  18. Awesome news and congrats to RV and his team. I hope this can be leveraged into better results on the field and court.
  19. In year 5, the bar really ought to be set at a bowl victory without the prior coaches recruits. I hope we finish 11-1 however unlikely that may be, but if we finish 4-8 or 5-7 and nothing changes at all in the off season then the expectation level is even lower than I thought.
  20. At least with regard to the offense, I don't think we can play the "well that's the hand we were dealt" card when there really haven't been any material, season shifting events like injuries (unless I missed something which is always possible). The coaching staff is currently playing with the hand they specifically chose. While this game was pretty awful offensively, I do think the Rice game will be telling of how much of it, if any was working out kinks in the first game. If things do not improve, I suppose we either have a hand full of low cards, or chose to play the low ones instead of the ace. The latter is even worse, but in Year 5, either one isn't really acceptable at the FBS level.
  21. I'm sure Rob Evans is a great guy and has had some success in the past as a head coach, but when/if we change coaches, I really hope we hire someone with a little more fire and energy.
  22. @KRAM1 Oh, I had no issue with whether the calls were delayed or not, I just didn't see even a hint of a foul in either case. The handball called against Panama (even as the guy made every attempt not to touch it with his upper arm and even though it did had no impact on the play) really affected the outcome of the tournament; Looks like the USA will just have to get its stuff together and win the one game playoff with Mexico for the confederations cup spot in 2017. There was a silly penalty called against Portland last night as well, but since the good guys were up 3-0 at that point it didn't affect the outcome at all.
  23. KRAM, did you see the video of the late PKs called against Costa Rica and Panama in the quarters and semis, respectively? Curious as to your thoughts as a referee. Edit: @KRAM1
  24. Well that was a terrible end to the gold cup. Third place game. Yay...
