Are we sure Rob is up for that? He is a former head coach and I'm sure a great guy, but not a lot of energy left. I'd like to see one of the other assistants get a shot at the remainder of the year. Heck, is Roger Franklin in offseason right now?

Lady Mean Green Defeat Incarnate Word 62-55
Mean Green Matt replied to UNTFan23's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Its really still too early to contemplate her getting hired away, but considering she is an alum, if that scenario did materialize, I would hope we would do everything in our power to keep her here. It's not like it would take $1 million per year. -
Meanwhile, over at Georgia State

I'm assuming an on-campus stadium is not an option due to location, so I guess this is about as good as it will get for them, but not terribly impressed. -
I'm gonna go with 7-6 for next year, because, why the heck not?

Well....Littrell would be winning with Macs recruits until he starts winning with his own recruits...

I don't necessarily disagree with you. I do, however give Dodge the credit for bringing the majority of pieces to Denton that contributed to the awesomeness that 2013 was. That's something Dan was unable to do himself. Dan does deserve the credit for executing with those pieces.
-
touché I suppose. The initial comment from @rudy was about how Dodge ought not have hard feelings because of how much money he made compared to how poorly he did. I was simply making the point that Dodge DID leave us something. If the cupboard had truly been left bare for Mac we still wouldn't have a winning season since 2004 and he made 3x as much as Dodge.
-
Well I guess Dodge could recruit but not coach. Dan could coach ok but couldn't recruit. You need both to be successful and we paid one guy 3x as much as the other.

The athletic department needs to be open to outside ideas especially from successful programs but also from fans. I didn't spend the time to go back and find the threads but I seem to remember several stories of fans either offering to fund and work on a promotion and being shut down or fans doing promoting of their own (not pretending to be associated with the athletic department or anything like that) and being scolded for it after the fact. Those kinds of things are unfortunate IMO given our current situation.

If Cross leaves his alma mater it won't be for us. I'm not convinced he would have taken it in 2012 but the talent on the roster may have been such he thought he could have some success and end up with a big job. As others have said our spot in the hierarchy has slipped a bit since then.

Well McCarney made 3x as much and his only success was with Dodge recruits.

Not to nitpick, but 30,850.

Is Creighton in the SWAC? No. Is Creighton in the bottom half of the southland? No. Not holding my breath on this one.

They aren't quitters. Oops, sorry I mean Transferers. -
Man, what would we do without the SWAC and bottom half of the Southland?

Interesting aspect to Littrell's rebuild

If we are voting, I think Nick Saban would have won more than two games last year for us...(SMU, UTEP, UTSA). -

WBB vs. Weber State (12/4/15)
Mean Green Matt replied to Mean Green Matt's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Jalie deserves a pass this year given the circumstances. With the players sitting out a big investment has been made in next year. I do think even with the circumstances this team wins around 10 games. -
WBB vs. Weber State (12/4/15)

Looks like the wheels have fallen off tonight. NT has only scored 4 points in the last 15 minutes and is down 10. -

Bad second quarter. Only up 17-15 at the half. -
NT up 13-6 after the 1st quarter.

I don't know if we had peaked under JJ or not, but just because the guy who was hired (who was not a proven winner with head coaching experience) completely decimated what JJ built doesn't mean JJ is the best we could do the next time around.
