  1. I'm along these lines. The players deserve a big say, but leadership should also be selling them on the best options for the program.
  2. HUGE comeback in set 3. From down 15-20 to win 25-23. NT up 2 sets to 1.
  3. Well if we win tomorrow we supposedly get first choice of the available bowls with CUSA tie ins. Independence is one. Some have said the loser tomorrow gets second choice. I don't know if that is true or not. if the potential opponents in these bowls were switched I'd be arguing FOR New Orleans.
  4. Tied 1-1 on sets. NT struggling in set 3. NT volleyball providing solid updates on twitter.
  5. CUSA has a secondary tie in in Shreveport so a CUSA team will almost certainly fill that other spot. I am not trying to dismiss the wishes of the players. If they want to leave Dallas, that's fine and I get it, they've played their butts off. But when a closer bowl for the fans against a higher profile (but possibly weaker team as @MeanGreenTexan has been trying to point out) exists, then I just feel like our administration should be steering us in that direction (especially if we have first choice). Troy is good and a win against them would be great on the field. But in the grand scheme of things, despite the fact Troy beat LSU, there is really no perception "win" for us by playing them. Especially if we wrap up win #10 tomorrow
  6. They are going to discuss the 5 conference champion and pick who they think is best. Given the current rankings I think it's pretty clear the committee thinks it's the American (whether that be UCF who would be undefeated or Memphis on just the one loss). The Mountain West champ would be a long shot after that. Is and FAU do not have a chance this year given what we are up against from the AAC and MWC.
  7. @Matt from A700 are you at the game. What is the crowd like?
  8. I'll have one of whatever you're having. :)
  9. The CFP committee chooses the top G5 champion. I can't recall if they actually do the full 1-5 ranking.
  10. But the problem is that's not true. Per Vito multiple sources are telling him tomorrow doesn't matter: "At this point, the chatter in college football circles has reached the point where it looks like UNT heading to New Orleans is a done deal no matter what happens tomorrow. Multiple people have indicated that is the case."
  11. In fact if Toledo wins the MAC and Troy the Sun Belt we might actually be #5. :(
  12. But the P5 matchup in Shreveport isn't just a pipe dream. It's an actual tie in. (Contingent)
  13. Memphis/UCF winner will take the spot.
  14. If we have to go to the New Orleans Bowl can we at least get old scrappy back.
  15. This is about the program as a whole. Lots of people made the argument we want New Orleans to get to 10 wins for recruiting (Troy will not be easy). But per Mr. Vito we will pick New Orleans even if we get win #10 tomorrow. If the explanation is that New Orleans is more fun than Shreveport that's completely unacceptable.
  16. So let me get this straight. Even if we win tomorrow and have first pick we still take the worst choice available (early game in a cavernous empty stadium against a conference we want to distance from versus a team no one cares about that will probably be favored over us). And meanwhile we give FAU a game against a P5 school about 4 hours closer for our fans than New Orleans in a stadium that would be absolutely packed. If that is actually what is happening (and I'm still having a hard time digesting it) the fans deserve a full, on the record explanation from our administration.
  17. I could be wrong but I think CUSA does have an actual secondary tie in with the independence bowl of one of the other conferences cannot fill its spot.
  18. The best way we can prove to the NCAA that we deserve to be included moving forward is to go win this Tournament.
  19. As soon as enough people show up for it to matter.
  20. Ok. Replace FSU with literally any P5 school and the point remains the same. There's no excuse for us choosing New Orleans and knowingly passing on a chance at a P5 school in a city closer for the fans. Now, of course that may not be what is happening. And I hope it's not. But I can't see a logical reason for us ultimately ending up in New Orleans other than that.
  21. This is about having a pretty solid team and wanting the opportunity for that team to get us maximum national exposure. Beating Florida State in Shreveport is a heck of a lot better than whoever Arkansas State is in New Orleans. If we get sent there against our will, fine. I'm worried NO is what we are requesting.
  22. Shocked anyone is excited about the New Orleans Bowl. I get that the Dickey years were fun (they were a blast) but don't sell this team short because of nostalgia. This team deserves better. Wren Baker should be busting down the doors of CUSA and ESPN to get that independence bowl slot against an ACC team. Also, these things are risk reward. If the most important thing about a bowl game is winning well then we ought to play a 6-6 sun belt team every year. The potential upside of beating an ACC team FAR outweighs the risk of a loss. Get it done Wren. Settling is Old Denton.
  23. 1310 the ticket certainly isn't giving us much airtime.
  24. We can pay Seth enough (even though SMU could pay more) to convince him to stay.
