Found this through an article on the DRC website. The site has about 550 photos through Denton's history. The Portal of Texas History Also found this picture, which is inaccurately labeled Fouts Field since the info on the pirture is circa 1935. http://texashistory.unt.edu/data/DG06/DPL/...34/pf_b-229.jpg

If anyone happened to catch Sportscenter this afternoon they were running a piece on how some of the fan's over there in Europe are getting out of hand with their insulting of black players. Apparently FIFA has created a rule penalizing players and officials if they do anything derogetory, but there are no rules on the fans so it probably isn't going to do much.

Interesting POV from one D 1 coach
NTEagle08 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
this is nothing new with Urban Meyer, he is probably one of the most likable coaches in all of college football. He allowed the students at Florida last year to name the student section there at the Swamp, and Swamp Things was the winner. He also helped start up the MUSS, the student section at Utah, even the players on the back of their helmets wore the MUSS sticker to show the football team's graditude toward the students showing up. -
sort of stinks that the U.S. has to finish 1st in the group to avoid a first round matchup against Brazil, but I guess that's the way it goes.

You have to believe if Freedman is paying a million bucks for one building, that he is not looking at keeping most of the area up since it doesn't make economical sense for him to leave all the current structures up. All he is concerned with is rent money, he doesn't care how finacially successful the businesses are, all he cares about is getting that rent check in the mail.

Interesting article from the DRC: http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/...h.51f2415a.html Interesting part of the article is that Joe Normile was offered 1.2 million for that closed, run down gas station, and he turned it down, how crazy can you be?
-
Putting words into my mouth, I never said it like that. To compare Fry Street to the Roman Coliseum is a crazy jump. I meant that Fry Street can't be claimed as historical because other than buildings dating back from the 20's, what claim to history does it really have?
-
Just because something is old doesn't just give it historic value. Using that theory that means dilapidated buildings could claim historical value just because they had been there a while. I may have only lived in Denton for 3 years, but it's not like I can say, "Oh this happened here X years ago" and impress someone with Fry Street.

fyi, Jamario didn't run on the track team this year.

There will be always those exceptional athletes in any sport. Changing the rules for softball because of one or two players would be pretty much the same thing the PGA courses did in "Tiger proofing" their courses for tournament play.

Come on, the downfall of society, that's taking it a little far. I don't see a problem with it at high school level since some of these games do get way out of hand to where it's just going to play the 48 minutes. The teams are still getting their butts kicked, but it's prevents an outright embarassment. Although if they are to have this rule it should be a mercy rule to where it would end the game, instead of creating an ackward situation where the team that's winning is having to dileberatly try not to score. Or maybe creating a running clock rule to where the clock doesn't stop when one team is up by x number of points. And the coach for why this rule is a complete a-hole. I mean come on calling a timeout right before halftime when your up by 40+ points.

You have to be kidding me, "The Play" isn't #1 on this list, when you see that on TV or elsewhere it never gets old watching it. The "Bush Push" just doesn't have that effect.

The last 3 mid major players to be considered in the top 5 of the Heisman Race(A. Smith, Tomlinson, and Moss) all played on undefeated or one-loss teams. So pretty much a team has to go undefeated and a player has to have a unbelievable year to get consideration for the Heisman at a mid major school.

Will Texas Overlook Us Prepping for OSU?
NTEagle08 replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
They won't overlook us, especially when they will be needing to get two quarterbacks game experience before their big game on Sept. 9th. -
realistically the way it should work, or at least the way I think it should work, is that the 3 division winners should still get the top 3 spots in the conference. Re-seed after the first round is over, that way the Spurs would have played the Clippers, and the Mavs would have played the Suns. And the higher seed gets home court advantage, why have seeds in the first place if they don't really mean much, especially in home court advantage. Also if the Cavs would have won game 6, they would have had two rounds going at the same time, which would have not made a whole lot of sense. The NBA should wait for all teams to be done with one round, before starting another one. This is the way every other major sports league operates their playoffs, I don't know why the NBA has to do it differently.
-
Now I know the Mavs had a better record than the Suns in the regular season, but why is it that they get home court advantage. The NBA is the only league to my knowledge that doesn't give an incentive to winning divisions. For instance, remember that this past year Jacksonville had a better record than both Cincinatti and New England, but they had to play on the road since they didn't win their division. The way the NBA does there playoff seeding and whatnot does not make any sense.
-
This year could possibly be the first time since 1999 that neither OU and/or UT are undefeated going into the Red River Shootout. OU plays a road game at Oregon(Autzen always a tough place to play) and UT has the game against Ohio State.

thought I would pass this on to people worried about the new Fry Street being a run down strip center. Hermes Architects has been hired as the company to help design the new Fry Street, they have a portfolio up of previous work. http://www.hermesarchitects.com/homepage.html

Smu game Is it the biggest game ever?
NTEagle08 replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
sort of sad when the "biggest game ever" is against a team that has one winning season in the last 17 years. -
Notre Dame looks for national exposure

They still want to play named teams. Alot of ND fans aren't too happy that Nevada is going to be making a trip to South Bend in a few years.
