  1. SUMG, I did not know you were from the future. One thing I like about that stadium design is the shade........ I don't know about you gents, but pratically every Rangers game I've been to I have sweated... profusely. Shade is good.
  2. In the spirit of voting early and often, I hereby cast 5471 votes for Tulane.
  3. Whatever, dude. I kicked Cougar's aiiiiss. At chess.
  4. Muchas gracias.
  5. LSU sought its last coach from Samford, so you're point about LSU's ego is off the mark. Get your wiki on, jw05! That said, I agree that LSU will not be seeking Jones at this point. Call it Beauregard Parish elitism. Props to those who caught the DeRidder reference.
  6. Firebird's hilighted text is the strongest argument against us. Having suffered through the mire of DD-philopsophy made me certainly appreaciate this year offensively and TD as a man. As one who prefers winning, however, I didn't have a great feeling. This year's recruiting will certainly be not as good as it could have been had UNT gone > .500. We are were we are, and last year has given all who watched closely a glimpse that the magic TD build in hs can and will transfer over to NCAA Bowl Division. I believe in the Mean Green. I believe in TD's Philosophy. We will win and soon. Disclaimer: I have advised been by SUMG to not disclose what I mean by "soon" so as to be ambiguous.
  7. First, I agree that CUSA would most likely be better than an eastern division of the WAC. However, Flyer, NT80's point was, if I'm quoting correctly, "...then the WAC might have to seriously consider an eastern division or SBC merger of some kind." Not that we would join with just NMSU LaTech in our hemisphere, er, time zone. I think a two division WAC with some teams in our area (LaTech, NMSU currently plus perhaps ULaLa, ArkSt, Troy, etc...) would be preferable to the SBC. Though, I'd miss Denver. And the F_Us.
  8. Expect? A season comparable in terms of wins-losses to last year. Same personnel, totally different system. Hope? .500, or perhaps a winning season. Pollyanna Prediction? Undefeated with an OT win over LSU in the championship game.
  9. Can I change my vote? I vote MTSU b/c of obnoxoius signatures and their confederacy-missing fans. That, and the cheating. And the fact that the word "middle" is in their university name.
  10. What's the Sun Belt? Oh yeah. I'm going to go w/ Denver. Man, I hate Denver.
  11. I wasn't wondering, but now that you mention it, do you think the notion of punitive damages is a bad idea? Alternatively, do you think contingency fees are a bad idea?
  12. Can you post a link to what you mean by that phrase "Loser Pays"? I am not 100% sure what it means but believe I have heard it before and thus I am interested in reading about it. It is worth noting that tort liability in large part is a function of the individual state, drawing upon tenets of federalism, which I am sure you are not criticizing. As a UNT Political Philosophy major and Tulane juris doctor holder, my personal view on America's system of "tort law," (p.s. "tort was a phrase that I really didn't know what meant until first year Tort law... I digress) is that it is the best system of civil justice in history. If you disagree with this statement, please specify as to what you disagree. Is it common law? Is it federalism? Is it the principle of a jury of one's peers? Appellate decisions? I would like to know more of what you mean, as I am sure there is a disagreement between us where perhaps I could learn from your perspective, but I am not 100% sure of your position. Please Advise
  13. Whew. I don't know if I could have handled the idea of SMU's only two wins this year being over UNT and Tulane. Thankfully, the Wave pulled it out, after blowing a 10 point lead...
  14. Dang it! Where's the link?! I'm cancelling meangreensports.com "premium". ..... Horrible.
  15. You can. Appeals in criminal cases are automatic to the intermediate level of appellate court, while a petition for discretionary review can be filed with the court of last resort in criminal matters (The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals). In civil matters, you get an automatic right of appeal to the intermediate level of appeals, and the court of last resort is the Texas Supreme Court, which only hears civil matters.
  16. I would hope the jury's decision was based on more than what was "read on [an] article." That said, 6-27? Fire that man! Not to be technical, but you haven't seen any of the evidence, of racism or not. That said, 6-27? Fire that man!

    Go Usf!

I do. And I'm good enough, smart enough, and dog-gone-it, people like me.
  18. MGW

    Go Usf!

Point well taken. What if I add "public" to the description? If that doesn't work, also add "green."

    Go Usf!

4th and 37... incomplete Oh Well. Perhaps UNT can still be the first directional school to win the national championship of this century....
  20. USF down 27-29 to Rutgers, w/ approx 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Though in a BCS conference, USF is UNT in the sense that it is a directional school in a talent rich state. For those among us who believe UNT should never strive for greater than top of the Belt and perhaps top 70 in the nation, see USF. Go USF! Go UNT! Go David! Screw you, Goliath!
  21. GB, I am at heart a Pollyanna.
  22. Not to go all Green Wave on you, old man, but isn't Rice 1-4, the same as Tulane? And Memphis is 2-4, while only Tulsa is above .500 out of SMU's remaining schedule. As per your question, I suspect it all depends on who SMU hires. I would expect PB to be canned, unless then win out. When UNT went up on SMU at Ford, I heard several SMU fans calling for their coach's head. I suspect it is worse now. If SMU brings in a new coach and that generates excitement, then I would expect that would be worse for UNT in terms of recruiting than if they keep the status quo. However, I don't think SMU recruiting better is necessarily a bad thing for UNT. In my view, if SMU and TCU can improve that will only help other non-BCS schools to improve, as well, as it will fortify in recruits' minds that one doesn't have to go to UT, OU, et al to achieve success and national recognition. See Boise State's win over OU last year in a BCS Bowl.
  23. I wonder if we could have kept ULaMo from scoring late whether Troy's score would be predicted to be lower. Indulge me for a sec... Wouldn't it be freak'n sweet if the mean green were to win out? I would bet against it, but what a story this season would be if it turned out that way....
  24. If my understanding of the law of proclamation is correct, your subsequent contradiction because it is second in time is invalid. Tough luck. Also, to address your point, wasn't Kentucky in the top 25 the season before Guy Morris left? I think the improvement since he left has been slow. I think at the time he left Kentucky was the better opportunity and Baylor was a risk. I admire people like Guy Morris, though, who are willing to risk it, especially Texas men who seek return to our great soveirgn state, even if it is to Waco.
  25. I believe if you suscribe to meangreensports.com premium, you can watch any game this season archived.... However, I'd recommend skipping the first several.
