  1. I’ve gotta agree I hate seeing new guys were my old fraternity intramural number and that’s nothing compared to a D-1 college football number. But unfortunately it’s just part of life we've gotta move on and except the change.
  2. Give the guy a break it's only his blog his paper articles get checked before going to print.
  3. Knowing this board I've gotta assume someone can make an arguement for letting him walk.
  4. He's just out of highschool but held out and signed late.
  5. I don't thank anyone mentioned him being a bust. And I think everyone realizes on game day no one on the team lines up in shorts and sprints 40yards. So I know the 40 time isn’t the most important number in recruiting but when his time is more than 3/4 of a seconds slower than other o-line commitments it can cause some concern and thats all anyone said.
  6. Still funny but SMU posted it yesterday.
  7. Come on there are a lot of different ways to disguise a draw. I’m sure some school somewhere would have paid tens of dollars for film of a Dickey practice.
  8. I really hate getting into long drawn out stadium debates but this topic just stirs up debate around every turn. I’ll be the first to say building a new stadium the same size as the current one seems somewhat counterproductive to me. I do feel in building a new stadium we need to take a major step towards bringing in bigger opponents and toward joining a bigger conference. Does add a new 32k seat stadium really help us do that? Upon a lot of deep and serious thought I came up with an answer of not so much with a but. Just like every step this program has taken we have to view this as a work in progress and feel the stadium is no different. Because of the horseshoe plan I do have to agree that going over 30-35k without an upper-deck will be very difficult and it isn’t cost effective to build an upper-deck now. With that said I’m now on board with the lets build what ever we can bandwagon. If we can raise the money now to build a new 30-35k seat state of the art stadium; I feel if needed we shouldn’t have any problem funding the expansion a few years down the line. We still have to double our average attendance just to need a stadium bigger than 32k. If this happens we should be talking a minimum of 1.5 million a year in increased ticket sales. I do feel a new stadium will help attract better opponents and will drastically help recruiting. With all this comes more press and better national exposure which will only mean more money for the program and hopefully a new conference offer. So my new stance is to build it now and let the stadium pay for its own expansion.
  9. The articles definitely take a couple shots at us but all in all I’m pretty happy just to be mentioned by papers across the state. As everyone knows no press is bad press and for the first time maybe ever people seem to realize we exist. I don’t care who wants to fling insults as long as they keep on writing about us. Let TD keep doing his thing and put up a few big wins and our newly found press will just get better and better.
  10. There is no clear answer to that the Rose Bowl and the big house each hold over 100k without an upperdeck. It all comes down to the design I think we could fit around 40k in a lower bowl but that means we have to have the dreaded and feared end-zone seats. I will admit the planned horseshoe design around the athletic center will make it hard to get to 40k with out the upperdeck.
  11. I don't know if this is new information or not but I can't remember seeing anything about it. 3 1/2 hour DVD interview with Todd Dodge. I found the link off texashsfootball.com. It looks mostly like a how to coach and motive DVD but either way it’s more free advertisement for what he’s here doing at NT. http://www.lessonsfromsports.com/
  12. I do expect to see at least four of the freshman get significant playing time. I do expect a couple red-shirts but think Johnson, Dibrell and Walker will get in the fold early. These kids all have experience in a similar system and should be able to produce early. I think the fours freshman spot will be between King and Roberson; both are big physical receivers. King played 5a ball so it may be an easier transition for him over Roberson who was 2a.
  13. The o-line may still be an issue but with Lefty back and the new system I expect better play than last year. The new shotgun system will give who ever plays a little more time to scan the field than in years past. As compared to the 8 man fronts our QBs are used to seeing bearing down on them before they even finish a 5 step drop.
  14. If it brings new possible recruits onto campus and increases interest in the program then he can have a camp every weekend for all I care.
  15. It's tonight Thursday the 2nd at 6pm. He should have said tomorrow on the blog.
  16. You know 7 of 11 replies have been bump. if you just ignore it, it might just go away.
  17. He was on scholarship and was expected to start after Hall but he didn't make grades.
  18. As for the kids with grade issues even those who were at NCTC in spring can still attend NT during summer in an attempt to become eligible. I believe summer school ends this week so we should know shortly if they are eligible or not.
  19. You've gotta keep things humorous Dodge is going to play who ever performs then best over the next month. We can argue all we like but we have no say in the matter and have no idea who’s going to be the guy. Everyone has their favorites but it’s a new system and none of these kids have played in this system in a D1 football game yet. Let leave it to Todge to make the call we’ll see who becomes the guy later in he month. IN TODD WE TRUST!
  20. Count me in I'll bring my own chains too. With a renovated concourse and no track I could live with Fouts.
  21. I wasn't here nor alive in the 70’s but I’d have to assume the school had a much better since of tradition and respect for the football program under Hayden Fry. The step down to D1-AA in the 80’s made it uncool to even care about the football team and that persisted until I got here in the late 90’s and to some extent even through the bowl years. Everyone has just been used to losing and being irrelevant for so long they forgot how important it is to support you school. But I’ve never seen a buzz like this before and think a new exciting offense and stringing a few wins together will get the school will get behind us. I saw it through the bowl years by the third and forth seasons freshmen came in looking forward to going to games because they thought we may be going somewhere. And before I left Denton I saw a big shift in the demographic I feel as the population went up the gap between art majors who really don’t care too much about athletics and the general student body started to lean in our favor. Let Todge do his thing and start winning some games and as the new people move in they’ll see the excitement around the program and want to jump on board.
  22. It was from June 28th here are the basic stats. Denton is 9th fastest in growth Denton’s population surged from 104,264 in July 2005 to 109,561 in July 2006, a rise of 5.1 percent, census estimates show. That places Denton among the top 10 fastest-growing cities in the United States with populations of 100,000 or more. The city shares the list with two North Texas neighbors: McKinney (No. 2) and Grand Prairie (No. 6). More people more money this all just helps NT and so will the up coming developments.
  23. Along those lines I don’t think anyone on this board wants us to go 4-8 or 5-7 but we understand most teams don’t make a 5 win improvement in just one year under a new system. I honestly do expect a four game turn around to 7-5 but I also know like most of the board if we finish 5-7 and show drastic improvement within the new system as the season goes on it’s not a disaster. Everyone here wants us to go 12-0 but most people on the board try to be realists and understand in most cases teams have to rebuild and like everyone I just hope that process doesn’t take too long.
  24. No one is saying it can't be done it just normally isn't done. As you mentioned the MuTS were expected to finish 6ht last year and they proved the nation wrong. Rice did make a similar turn around with the same talent and just a better system and coaching. We can do that same thing but we can’t expect the national media to expect us to go from 3-9 to 9-3 before TD even coaches a game. Let get on the field and hopefully prove everyone wrong.
  25. I hate seeing that we are ranked so low as well but it is deserved we’ve won 5 games the last two years and have a first year head coach. But I am still pretty optimistic. We've had very young teams the past couple years. I think our defense and o-line should be much improved and the offense as a whole even will all the changes can’t be any worse than it has been the past two years. We have a lot of returning starters and a better freshman class than recent years. With all that said I think 7-5 and being in contention for the S.Belt championship is a big possibility.
