  1. Tony Worrell had a rough game. I may have dreamed this but I think the team all signed a barf bag on the flight home and gave it too him for his play against North Carolina. However at age 81 I am not sure it happened or someone just made up a good story.
  2. So the big boys in D1 will break off to 50 or 60 teams in the next few years. I am not an attorney but guessing they probably could cap NIL payoffs in a new football conference outside the NCAA. Maybe at $100 million or so.
  3. I am a retired old man with way too much time on his hands so I have read far too many podcasts from guys who claim to have the skinny. I would say that 90% of them had UTSA as one of the chosen ones from the get go while very few had USF because of geography , which even a realignment dumbo like me knew was b.s. as distance and travel expenses don't seem to be much of a consideration these days. However despite this, I was surprised that USF was in fact invited which is why I no longer voice an opinion on realignment but just report pod casters who at the end of the day are just guessing like the rest of us.
  4. So west coast pod cast team today said one reason that the AAC 4 didn't move to PAC, besides travel expenses, is the PAC only offered to pay about $5 million of their exit fees. Evidently WSU and OSU were at the bottom of the PAC 12 tv viewer list which is why they were left behind. The PAC 6's media consultants told the PAC that Memphis viewership was less than WSU and OSU and about the same as Utah State. Therefore the PAC 6 decided the AAC 4 wasn't worth more buyout money. In addition the AAC 4's consultants said that the $10 to $ 15million per team media payout was bogus, and that their recent additions just created another MWC worth about the same as the one that's falling apart, which is in the $4 to $7 million range. The bottom line is that all the new PAC has is its name, but with the new teams it has little if any value. The fact that it is reported that the new PAC has reached out to U Conn for football only is a sign of desperate tomes.None of this is my personal opinion, just passing it along.
  5. Thanks for plugging names in. Wyoming had a stud player[ whose name I can't spell ] Fenis Dunbo , who really lit it up .
  6. Well now that USU is moving to the PAC, UNLV is rethinking its commitment to the MWC because they were told the Aggies were staying as well. I don't know how that affects the AFA but this is really turning into a cluster f--k.
  7. Just announced UNLV staying in MWC, Utah State to PAC 7. I am assuming Nevada/ Reno and SJSU staying in MWC which gives each conference 7 football programs. Looks like both may need to dip into 1AA programs. i doubt the PAC 7 would take UTEP or NMSU but the MWC might take one or both .
  8. The AFA is staying in the MWC. UNLV either stays or goes to the PAC 6.
  9. What I remember is that the WAC expanded into a 16 team conference and about 24 years ago 5 of their school presidents met at the Denver airport and decided to form another conference. They convinced 3 more schools to join them and the MWC was born. The WAC never recovered and eventually bit the dust .
  10. Just reported that the AFA has re committed to the MWC and received a $10 million signing bonus. UNLV, Nevado Reno, SJSU.and USU have also been offered sighing bonuses and have until 6:00 pm today central time to commit to the MWC or offer is off the table.
  11. So news flash is that Memphis, Tulane, and USF are NOT moving to PAC 6. I also appears that The AAC will try and come up with a performance based revenue system.
  12. I assume that the PAC 6 has shopped tv media deals based upon the value of who they add next. They should have enough information to give schools they are interested in a fairly accurate of the money they will be able to pay, including buyout costs. This isn't about more money for Memphis,Tulane, or USF. Its about being in a conference that has a reasonable path to the college playoffs and positions them best for the next realignment when the big boys form their own division, probably by the end of the decade when existing media rights expire for some major conferences. When the AAC had UCF,Houston, SMU ,and Cincinnati they were that conference. They now look at the AAC as just another CUSA since 6 of the current membership came from there.
  13. Slippery slope to offer more money to a select few teams. If they go and we get the AFA and perhaps Texas State the AAC should be okay. UNLV is a bridge too far and there must be a reason the PAC 6 didn't include them to begin with. Yesterday a pod caster said that if Tulane and Memphis don't join the Pac 6 that the conference would add UNLV and Utah State. He also said that if they still want to get into Texas, UTSA ,TSU, and UNT would be their prospects. Who knows?
  14. I flew up with the team to that game with my 8th grade son. The night before the Mavs were in town and we saw them play the Jaz. I can't remember his name but besides Worrell our center, who only played one year, was freshman player of the year in the SLC. The 2nd game was the best basketball i have ever seen featuring Wyoming and Loyola M. who scored about 235 points between them. There were several players in that game who went on to play on the NBA although one had a heart attack and died at a very early age.
  15. I don't think TT would be interested in a rematch and UNT shouldn't. Also, I would rather stay home that suffer another loss In Frisco in a game no one watches or attends.
  16. At that time, and until the mid 70's , both the SWC and SEC were segregated and if you were black and wanted to play in Texas you went to North Texas and later on Houston. The Big 10 and Big 8 were also a landing spot.
  17. I hope you are right. If something was going to happen I would have thought it would have by now.
  18. Navy nearly gave their win against Memphis by running a 3-3-5 defense in the later part of the 4th qtr. The Tigers were marching towards the winning td when their qb thru a pick 6. Both teams will run thru us when we face them.
  19. This is great information, but we have been called a sleeping giant for at least 20 years. The reality is that conference realignment is based upon football and tv sets. UTSA 's football program is perceived as going up, UNT's as going nowhere. I will defer to tv interest by viewers of either team other that we garner very little.
  20. Let's assume the PAC 6 snags Memphis, Tulane, and UTSA. Hopefully we could replace them with AFA and TSU. The AAC need not go wild and crazy adding teams that bring no media value to the conference. When the conference media rights contract is renegotiated we are going to take a hit. Plus someone must pay the MWC $17 million exit fee to get the AFA and any other team from their conference.
  21. I don't blame them for not wanted to be named.
  22. One reason given be one pod caster that UTSA is preferred over UNT is that while their football program has been trending up ours has not. With UNT you get what you get.
  23. Agreed. AFA gets us a 3 academies and TSU keeps up in the San Antonio market. The Wildcats are about as close to SA as UNT is to DFW.
