  1. Perhaps " letter of commitment " is not the appropriate wording. I though the 4 schools offered by the PAC announced something to that effect when they turned down their offer and announced were staying in the AAC.
  2. Didn't their head coach recently fire all his assistants? Sounds like a another problem could be coming to light.
  3. Gee, didn't Memphis just sign a letter of commitment to the AAC? What is the world coming too when you can't trust the word of a University.
  4. Well they did sell hunting magazines also, along with LIFE and LOOK. The newspapers I remember being most popular were the Ft. Worth Press and Dallas Times Herald.
  5. They are sold at a news stand.
  6. This happens in other college sports as well, especially football. The ZAGGS accepted PAC offer and paired with SDSU look strong in men's hoops. Could other WCC teams follow?
  7. This is all about football. Only BIG 10 seems to care about academics but you also must move media ratings up.
  8. Actually Thursday night T.V., not tonight. At least I got the week right.[ I think ]
  9. Word is that TSU said no to the MWC. Also none of the Montana and Dakota schools can afford to move up. The cost is $5 million plus 80 scholarships , NIL, and media market about the same as Wyoming. I would think Sac State would be the 1AA play . New Mexico State appears to be the last resort. Interesting times, but the MWC seems to be a step ahead of the PAC 7 although getting the ZAGGS is a great move for their basketball image.
  10. La Tech has gone down hill and is a long ways away for all sports. NMSU is too close to El Paso, has no money and declining enrollment. SHS was probably a package deal with TSU which I can only assume is not moving to the WAC. The sleeper is SAC State,in the 29th largest media market, building a new 25,000 + new stadium, and announced today they have $50 million [yes, I said million] dollars pledged to their NIL.
  11. You are correct, and we probably won't. However now, at least for football, looks like your ticket is for a nosebleed seat in the end zone.
  12. Agreed. If I was ranked 107 th out of 134 D1 programs I don't think I would brag. Actually Navy and Tulane are our headliners, while Houston is ranked last in the Big 12.
  13. They still need one more all sports program and while they might not want a 1AA program SAC STATE makes sense. New Mexico State just has no market, no money, and a declining enrollment.
  14. I saw several west coast pod casters mention Tarleton State as a MWC target but discounted it. However since UTEP accepted MWC invitation today it might make sense, especially if TSU and SHS declined. Unfortunately for NMSU they are too close to El Paso and I doubt UNM was much help in their cause.
  15. UTEP added because MWC got to end of alphabet , and yes, the Miners were part of the WAC that was left behind 23 years ago. Tonight 3 of Texas schools mentioned as MWC targets are playing . TSU vs Troy @ 6:00 on ESPNU, and SHS vs UTEP at 8:00 on CBSSN. The recent rank of 134 D1 football programs has UTEP at 131,TSU at 78, and SHS at 77. UNT is ranked 72, and AAC programs remaining on our schedule are Temple,129,FAU, 112, UTSA, 99,ECU,73,Army,60,Tulane,49, and Memphis,30. Our last 4 games are a challenge.
  16. No, its the MWC. TSU is the key to the MWC getting in Texas. If TSU moves the MWC goes after UTEP and/ or Sam Houston. From all I have read they want at least 2 schools in Texas.
  17. I have seen all 3 teams play and they all run the ball very well,as does Navy. I know I may sound pessimistic but unless we can sneak an extra player on the field and run a 4-4-4 we are probably in trouble against all of them.
  18. The question is where we will rank after playing Memphis, Tulane, and Army 3 games in a row.
  19. Sam Houston has a really good team this year.
  20. NIU and Toledo are for football only which doesn't count towards the 8 all sports requirement by the NCAA to be recognized as a conference. BIG WEST podcast reports this morning that TSU has received a verbal all sports offer from the MWC and that the Wildcats also have been approached but not offered by the PAC 7 and AAC.The MWC is also interested in Sam Houston . My guess is that the MWC thinks it can always get UTEP and/or NMSU and wants to explore all options. I don't know why the AAC would be interested in TSU as it is basically in the same market as UTSA. The same line of reasoning would apply to UTEP and NMSU but what do I know.
  21. UTEP could be next if they get TSU. The Sun Belt buyout may not be that much but CUSA is probably more.
  22. agreed
  23. This is really amazing. Texas State has two winning football seasons and get MWC offer. How funny.
  24. Well if all these 10's of thousands of UNT grads in the metroplex actually cared about out athletics perhaps we would get more ink. Regarding UT-D's chess team, I read in the Tyler newspaper [front page] they they lost in a match with an East Texas checkers team who wore red and black flannel shirts. Evidently the chess team, in black tails ,felt over dressed and out of place which caused they to lose concentration.
