Thanks for putting this together! My 8th grade son and I were at the game and had a ball, pun intended.

Seats 2,900 but they can cram 3,100 in with a shoehorn.

I am visiting my son in Ft. Lauderdale the last of the month and we are going to the UNT/FAU game the 27th. From pictures I have seen it looks like a gym but I will let you know. Its called "The Burrow " because their mascot is a "Burrowing Owl " as opposed to a generic barn owl, but who gives a hoot?

Well we could have UTA's beautiful basketball arena. Of course we could have their horse shit [ pun intended] basketball team and still no one would come.

Basketball trophies are in the entrance way in the Athletic Department Building.

I have been going since the early 60's but then there wasn't much competition for students free time. Evidently winning teams in basketball is no longer a draw. And for those who complain about the Super Pit being outdated and ugly have obviously not seen much older arenas in the Midwest.

Lower to what? We are scraping the bottom of the barrel as it is.

Five years is , in my opinion, ample time for the students to develop an interest in UNT basketball in particular and our sports in general. They don't support anything, and have not for decades.
-
UNT students have demonstrated over the years that they have little if any interest in their athletic programs. The 10's of $ millions we have put into bricks and sticks over the last 20+years has been wasted on them as will be future capital improvements. I have no idea as to how to change the culture but looking at the success of our men's basketball program the past 5 years evidently its not by winning games.

So watching BIG WEST podcast today and and a guest speaker brought up the point that so far the PAC has repeated their previous mistake of being a west coast only conference, this time with schools with far less media value that those who left for the BIG 10 and ACC. Being locked into the western time zone severely limits both the PAC and MWC attractiveness to potential media partners. He stated that getting into Texas was a must for both conferences [UTEP doesn't count because of its isolation ] and that their targets should be UTSA ,Texas State , North Texas , and that it was a must for them to be in Northern Texas because of the huge market. The bottom line was that for either conference to survive they must get in other time zones adding football only schools if necessary as the MWC did with NIU. I am just the messenger but don't see how UTSA and UNT can come up with the $25 million AAC buyout.

Have we ever had 1,600 fans at any women's basketball game?

A school that actually supports basketball is going to snatch him up at years end. -
Is it really brave to laud your boss publicly?

Unless he knows something. -
So I have a like new North Texas staff bag some one can have for free. However it has my name stitched on the back pocket . You can try to replace the pocket or stitch your name on bag material and cover it.

I just gave mine away to David Anderson, who probably didn't want it. It does not fit erect on your driver but instead looks like a broken penis.

Back in the stone age there was a Greek Council that planned Greek events. You would think that the athletic department could meet with them and ask that they assign a fraternity and sorority to attend EACH home basketball game, Men's and Women's.They could do the same with football, perhaps shutting down their tailgating shortly before kick off. The Greeks talk about being involved in school activities but they don't walk the walk. Maybe they need to be told that its expected of them.

I didn't realize how many students lived off campus. Also, no way we can come up with $25 million on our own. I thought the article was a fair assessment of our athletic program and what we bring and don't bring to the table.
-
I don't know if any AAC university can afford the buyout required to change conferences.
-
Since it is based upon historical giving I would think that even though its just an informed guess that it probably is fairly accurate.

How do our ticket prices compare with our peers? I always thought we were cheaper.

This is an ongoing problem which underscores the lack of interest by alumni and students for UNT athletics. We thought the problem was bricks and sticks but its far greater and we have no idea how to fix it. We continue to milk the same cows for money and involvement in our programs and have hit a wall.

I don't think that in the real world if a company loses money they expect their employees to pay it back out of previous profits shared.I paid bonus at year's end when we had a good year , nothing when we didn't, and certainly didn't try to claw any money back.
