Some AD's are more confortable hiring a coach that they have worked with in the past, hence I would expect to see a candidate from Mizzo. Regardless, we can huff and puff but its Wren's decision. Let's just hope we get a better hire than Auburn did when they employed the Boise State coach last year. Talk about putting a square stake in a round hole. That's why I prefer a coach with a Texas background but what do I know.

I respectfully disagree using UTSA and Texas Tech as examples. The last time I looked at Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine both of their coaches graced the cover and much was made about their Texas high school roots. While the Tech coach is just getting started, UTSA has recruited well. I realize the new transfer rules and NIL has changed the playing field but high school players are still important.

Well we have been to 3 bowl games with 5 wins.
-
Who, Me?My point is that IF Seth has had highly ranked recruiting classes the past 3 years it has not translated into wins so it's a coaching problem.
-
Texas Tech and UTSA might disagree with you.
-
Do you realize that North Texas is the OOC cupcake?
-
Top recruiting classes according to..........? If he did then he really can't coach .
-
Dodge probably could have been successful if he had hired a D1 staff. I just think we need a coach who worked his way up the Texas high school ranks. Coach Mac and Seth did not have that background and it showed in their high school recruiting results.
-
Neither Patterson, Briles, nor Harold are desperate enough to take a G5 job. Both Tech and UTSA hired what I would like to see, which is an experienced college coach with strong ties to Texas high school football.

So a bullfrog wanted to cross a pond but was tired . A cottonmouth slithered up beside him and said " I am going that way, hop on my back". The bullfrog replied, " you are a poisonous shake and will bite me". The cottonmouth assured the bullfrog that he wouldn't so the bullfrog hopped on his back.Sure enough midway across the pond the cottonmouth bit the bullfrog. As he floated on his back dying the bullfrog said. "but you promised." The cottonmouth replied," yes, but you new I was a snake when you got on my back."

I don't know what, if anything, is to be gained by firing Littrell now. It's not like we have someone presently on staff that we want to take a look at like Nebraska does. By the way, how is that working out? Point is that while you can let him go anytime I just don't see any upside doing it before season's end.

That's right. I had the problem with Jack and Jim.

It was my understanding Mac had a problem with Jack Daniels and Jim Beam.

UNT should go after TSU QB Andrew Body in portal

Just asking, but I read where some Southern Cal players were not high on Harrell and his offense. Anyone else read or hear this?- 54 replies

Well, Frost winning 16 games in 5 years would certainly feel familiar.

Agreed, and there is a reason Morris is available. While we can wish that a former P5 head coach like Ga, Southern's and UCF would take a G5 job, I really don't find that very plausible. If and when a change is made I would expect someone with an assistant's background like Littrell's would be hired. I hope we find some one like Texas Tech and UTSA head coaches. We really need someone who can break the Texas high school "code" as regards recruiting.

He seemed burned out at TCU. Also, he is not the D.C. at Texas but an " advisor." However,I really don't know what his role actually is.
-
Just a reminder that Iowa had 20 straight losing seasons before Hayden Fry took over their program. It just takes the right guy, perhaps similar to the recent UTSA and Tech hires.
-
I am not suggesting that.My point was that the conference we left, the SBC, became better than the one we joined, CUSA. I think its great being in the AAC and it will finely give us a chance at an attractive regional division that we should be able to compete in. SMU,UTSA,Rice,Tulane,Tulsa, and either Memphis or Navy . Again, for you youngsters back in the day both Tulsa and Memphis were conference mates in the MVC.

The App State win today got me thinking
wardly replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Mean Green Football
In article today DMN said App State head coach makes $900,000 per year. While most coaches have used the Mountaineers as a stepping stone they continue to reload. For you youngsters Jerry Moore replaced Hayden Fry and lost as many games as he won. After 2 years he got the Texas Tech job and was fired after a few years. Moore landed at App. State, built them into a D1AA powerhouse, and established the winning culture that still exists today. -
Any problems with Blue parking?
-
ULM will be forced to drop back to 1AA. I don't see how they have lasted this long in D1.
-
Well they do get paid in collard greens and moonshine.
-
What a hoot! We left the SBC for a better conference, CUSA. Its' members left CUSA for AAC and we ended up in a watered down CUSA ranked below the SBC which we just left. Now we are in the AAC who loses its top three programs and will be ranked below the SBC. You just have to admire the leadership of the Belt. CUSA, not so much.
