  1. I don't know exactly what the ACC gains with SMU except a bigger foot in Texas recruiting. I think that all 3 schools have been accepted based the how is the additional revenue to be allocated. I can only assume that the 4 hold outs want most if not all of it given to them. All the AAC Presidents Committee that is putting a proposal for distribution need to do is satisfy one of them with out pissing the rest of the conference members off and the deal is done.
  2. Everyone buys their way up the ladder one way or another . Without the major millions North Texas has put into bricks and sticks we wouldn't be in the AAC. It appears to me that SMU is looking at the long game. The PAC 12 imploded before the Mustangs were invited, the Big 12 has TCU in DFW ,and the Big 10 and SEC are out of reach. The only opportunity for SMU to move to a P5 conference is to partner with Stanford and Cal and buy their way into the ACC. This is probably their only chance at the brass ring and they are going for it. While the two teams I root for in athletics are UNT and whoever is playing SMU I say good for them. We both have major attendance issues and it is yet to be seen if moving into a better neighborhood will increase cheeks in the seats for either of us. I grew up in Ft. Worth in early 50's thru mid 60's and my favorite memories were listing to Kern Tipps on the radio broadcasting the SWC Humble Oil Game of the Week with my dad on our back porch. I still catch a TCU game every few years and would love to see Fla. State and Clemson play in Dallas. Color me an 80 year old died in the wool Mean Green fan who loves college football.
  3. Having said that, if Aresco had not felt that the Mustangs would bail on the AAC at the first chance they had UNT would still be in CUSA.
  4. SMU might need to play all OOC games at home to increase revenues. However with their historical poor attendance it probably won't help much.
  5. My guess is that they will drop us from their schedule.
  6. I am probably wrong but I think the MWC programs can leave in 2025 without penalty or one that is significantly reduced. Did I dream this?
  7. Why would UNT go to the MWC?
  8. Well it won't do us any good if we pass it on to OSU and WSU for doing us the favor and joining the AAC. Let them go to the MWC or Big Sky.
  9. I don't know why OSU and WSU would not join the MWC instead of the AAC.The difference in revenue is not that much and travel expenses would eat up the difference. One problem is that sense the MWC is paying Boise more money than the rest of the conference I would assume that the PAC 2 would want at least that. The MWV could tell Boise they were going to cut their share back to the rest of the conference in 2025 and go to a performance based bonus program and get everyone , including the PAC 2, on the same page.
  10. Hawaii plays football in the MWC, all other sports in the Big West.
  11. I have a cap [ my favorite of a dozen or so] that has the block interlocking NT with a star in the middle. I guess I got thru the alumni association but couldn't tell you how, where or when.
  12. Why Utah State? They were in top 25 a few years ago when they kicked out butts in the New Mexico Bowl.
  13. Well cancel that thought. My friends from Cal says its going to be too damn hot, which it is. I responded that its that attitude that got them left behind, which it did.
  14. In all honesty I think the best thing for OSU and WSU is to join the MWC. While their media contract is $5 or $6 million per year less than the AAC the difference would be eaten up in travel expenses.
  15. Looking at the dates of previous posts it doesn't look like the ticket exchange gets many request but I need 4 club seats and parking to Cal game 9/2. Thanks, Ward White
  16. Check out Trey Smith's Monday podcast.
  17. Actually probably 2 lessor animals get privilege of playing the' elite eight " once every 3 years. Also I meant Animal Farm, not Animal House. AT 80 I get a senior moment now and again. Time for Bluto's road trip.
  18. I meant Animal Farm. Gee, what a senior moment. Oh well.
  19. So if the ACC officially turns down Stanford and Cal this week the best option is for the PAC 4 to join the AAC. Aresco has stated that he has worked out scheduling to their satisfaction , which is rumored to be playing OSU,WSU,SMU,Rice,Tulane,Temple, Navy, and USF every year. The rest of us with coodies will be allowed to rotate one program in annually. As in Animal House," all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." How does that make you feel?
  20. I just don't think SMU brings value to the ACC at the same level as Stanford. Also I don't know why the ACC needs both Cal and Stanford, especially Cal, but we will see how things play out this week.
  21. From what I read Stanford is making an all out push this week to gain admittance to the ACC. They only meed one more YEA vote for approval, and by offering to forgo media money for a specified number of years the ACC now has the funds to pay Clemson and FSU more that the other conference members.
  22. Beats me. They are upgrading football stadium at cost of mega millions and are between a rock and a hard place. My best guess is while these programs are saying they will join for no media money for 4 or so years what they probably mean is that they will take AAC money and forgo the balance for a specified period. Even though SMU has the cash and is in Dallas I just don't see them getting invited by the ACC. They are a small private school with a small alumni base.
  23. I looked at Rutgers playing Southern Cal and decided that logic and commonsense are not a factor in today's conference realignments. It's all about " show me the money." [USF just attained the high academic status that has been very important to the PAC 12 and BIG 10 conferences.]
