  1. Perhaps, but I am going into 2025 with my cup half full instead of half empty. Besides, all the bitching has accomplished nothing and reinforces that repeating the same behavior expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.
  2. This probably is not politically correct but back in the day my response to this post would be " some people would bitch if they were hung with a new rope." Now I can't say this in the world today, so I am not, but if I could this is what I would say.
  3. Of the 7 bowl games we have lost since 2001 we played 3 in of them with losing records and had no business being invited. The other 4 we were underdogs and lost them all. I am not trying to make excuses for our bowl game record but trying to put into perspective.
  4. Tarleton State averaged 19,000 fans at 80% capacity. That's pretty close to UNT with a much smaller fan base.
  5. Good information from NT 80 about AAC contract with ESPN. Hopefully it will continue and grow. On another note , I think UNT owes about $20 million to the NCAA as their share of the nearly $2 billion owed to past players. Assuming that I am close enough for government work, have you heard in what time frame the money is due?
  6. Agreed, but at some point ESPN could go all in on the P4 programs and our t.v. money could go away. Just saying, I wouldn't bet the farm that this revenue stream is going to continue as is.
  7. We have invested nearly 100 million dollars into football bricks and sticks and I don't see us walking away from the sport.
  8. I think in 2026 the D1 football schools can add up to another 20 more scholarships. That might be a good time for the P6 programs to consider their lot in life. With about a 23% increase in scholarship costs plus NIL plus Transfer Portal whats an underfunded middle of the road program like UNT to do?
  9. We complain about SMU fans posting on our site and then we start something like this. Just saying....
  10. Great article. Thanks for posting.
  11. The NCAA is powerless to stop NIL or the Portal. They lost both cases in the courts as well as the recent JUCO decision. Their power started waning when Oklahoma successfully sued them regarding control of games that would be shown on t.v. Quite honestly I think the NCAA has lost it's usefulness.
  12. One of the problems might be is that the players are not employees but probably classified by the IRS as independent contractors. Even the big boys are seeking some type of control on the college era of " pay for play" which the NCAA legally has no control over[they also have no legal control over the portal].I certainly am not an attorney but perhaps if the players were classified as employees the universities could bring the NIL in house and require them to sign enforceable contracts otherwise the inmates will continue to run the asylum. If any barristers are in the house please comment.
  13. There was a trial?
  14. I guess this is where I respectively disagree with you and NT 80. The players are not getting a "free" education. They are providing a service to North Texas in "exchange" for tuition and room and board. Part of the education process at any college is learning enough to be marketable when you are seeking employment. I hate both the portal and the NIL but it is a legal reality in the world of college sports and athletics, and athletics have learned what they need to do in order to be "employed" at a higher income elsewhere, just like in the real world.
  15. Perhaps for a number of the players the only path to a college education is to play a sport in an exchange, so they are taking the route that best suits them. Regarding robing the golden goose, it looks like the multi million dollar coaches and P4 schools with media contracts worth 10's of millions of dollars beat them to it. Unless the rules for obtaining an athletic scholarship have changed , which they may have, it is only guaranteed for one year and renewed at the option of the university. Why would we expect more than a one year commitment from players when it is the same as what we give them? I know it really chaps your ass that players can receive compensation for services rendered but don't understand why. Oh well.
  16. I find it hard to fault the athletics when they see their coaching staff and athletic administration personal doing the same thing you are criticizing them for.
  17. It appears that the new commitment is for one season and only if you get the NIL money you were promised.
  18. LOL
  19. Thanks for the clarification.
  20. So I remember how excited Morris said he was to be at UNT and that it had brought back the love he had for football. Now I certainly don't begrudge him moving on to Virginia, but am disappointed that we didn't at least get a goodby kiss.
  21. Rogers was injured.
  22. I would rather play UNT Dallas than Mississippi Valley.
  23. It would be a bridge too far. At some point the Power 4 will spin off and leave the G6 programs behind. It might be prudent to prepare for that eventuality but I would wait until they pull the trigger.
  24. Thanks for the info
