  1. we are not going to pay him $100,000 more than t.ford, and he is not going to take a $100,000 pay cut.
  2. as per el paso times, walker issued statement yesterday saying he was not leaving nmsu.
  3. t.d.must go 7&5 next season, or he is gone. why would anyone quality o.c. come in to this situation? i don't see why td can't call the plays.[ mike leach was able to.] my concern is that we hire an o.c. just to be hiring one.
  4. good post. it won't! i think national college coaches convention is this month, and perhaps td can pick someone up, but i don't see the need as he can call the plays. leach did.
  5. rick, someone once said something to the effect that don't get into an argument with someone who has more ink or airtime than you do. i think you are fighting a fire that you can't put out. ward
  6. i enjoy all the bowl games, but don't think a team without a winning record should qualify. example, iowa state vs. minn.,where both teams were 6&6. uge!
  7. sory, i went to elmntry scool in arcansas and didnt learn to spel wel. howver, n.txs has always ben able to cash my chexs. ill tri to du beter.
  8. the following is opinion only, but if big east looses one to big 10, they will probably take 2 from cusa, ucf in all sports, and ecu football only.if pac 10 takes byu and utah from m. west, they probably will take boise and houston. a lot of moving parts, but 3 cusa spots could open up in the next few years. anyway, fun to speculate.
  9. i am so glad to see someone state that "a message board is not a source of facts," but in my opinion one of conversation. 2nd, i never could spell, hence my love of e/mails.
  10. we are in violent agreement. i try to be accurate in my posts, but will admitt that some are more opinion that fact based upon what i read on other boards and out of town articles. apologizy accepted, and keep providing good information. i appreciate your love for north texas! thanks, ward white
  11. anyone who disagrees with you automatically doesn't follow north texas , their opinion and post is discounted, and are always right. you really do have good input, but you are such a jerk about it. i was told by administration that with the return of retired k/state coach, that they want out of road games such as the one with us and tried to cancell.rv refused to bend, and the result was a date change that would bring a big 12 school to last game played at fouts with possibility of tv coverage. i agree that historically we have drawn poorly over thanksgiving, but i also agree that this is a great opportunity for us to step up to the plate and be counted. i will accept your bet with the followinf modification: i will donate a $1 per seat for attendance over our home average prior to this game, if you will do the same for seats under our average. for example, if our average home attandence is 18,000, and only 15,000 show up, then you owe athletic dep. $3,000. on the other hand, if 21,000 attend, i owe the same. end result is that north texas wins either way.[ also, i don't necessarly disagree with you that we were passed over by utep, i just have never seen it print. lighten up a little, smarty pants]
  12. where was this quote published, and who was quoted? also, i never said that baseball was required at original cusa expansion, only that it was my understanding that it would be in the future. just for information, you might wish to brouse the cusa board where they discuss expansion. i could not see where we were mentioned. of course, i have no way of knowing if they have the facts, and unless you reference a reliable sourse in your posts they are all subject to speculation.
  13. it appears that troy has been able to maintain their football program at their present level by using jucos as a strong recruiting base, more so than most schools. would this approach work for us?
  14. their budget is 20% less than you stated, so try to be honest with your posts. also, who told you we were passed over by utep? [rv,et, or elvis]. finally, not all want a baseball program , so i guess you are just making stuff up.
  15. for someone who is not trying to be a jerk you do an excellent job. since when is everything you say is correct and others wrong. i don't see you providing data to back up your statements other than "i'm right and you're wrong".by the way , i said that is "my understanding" regarding smu and cusa baseball program requirement, which is based upon a conversation with athletic administration a few years ago.. maybe you are right, but if so why are we talking about adding a baseball program, which would be just another underfunded sport? i'm sure you have the insite for all of us, so please share.
  16. hopefully we can get some juco help on both sides of the line.
  17. i don't think lack of a baseball program was a factor in last cusa expansion, as smu does not have a baseball team. however, it is my understanding that a baseball program is a requirement for future cusa expansion, and that smu is grandfathered. if so, then i would think that if we agreed to add a program within an agreed upon time frame, that it would not be a barrier to entry. we just need to keep improving our facalities and increasing out budget.
  18. when/if big 10 takes a big east school,[r.u.?]i think the big east will take 2 cusa schools, one all sports and one football only.[ucf, ecu?] this gives them 9 football and 16 basketball members. when big 10 goes to 12, then pac 10 has said they will as well, probably from mountain west.[utah, byu?] the mountain west will reload, either taking 2 wac schools to get back to 9 members, or taking a total of 5 wac/cusa schools and increase to 12 members.[ the usual suspects are fresno, boise, nevada, utep, and houston.].if this happens, whats left of the wac,[6],belt[7],and cusa[8] could realine geographly with cusa/east and belt/east hooking up, and wac,cusa/west, and belt/west doing the same. however, when it gets down to a depleted wac, cusa, and belt its going to be musical chairs, with size of athletic budget being a deal breaker. someone is going to be left out, but it won't be north texas. with our new student fee, increased budget, new stadium as well as all other athletic facalities, i feel good about our chances of being in a regional conference with natural rivals. just my opinion.
  19. we could use hunnicutt, pearce punter, as well.
  20. sorry, wondering what thoughts are on bleacher report "sunbelt. grow or die?"
  21. anyone notice sam houston beat fiu by 30 points last nite?
  22. check out" collegesportsinfo.com/conference-realignment-grid", as they discuss each team in each conference. their most recent update is december 09'. it's a good site to follow, as they may have more facts than opinions, such as mine.
