when you are ranked 110 out of 119 1a football programs its a little hard to schedule someone you can beat. it would be worse to get smoked by sfa or mcneese.

my point is that our entire athletic department is underfunded, and i see no sense in adding another expensive non-revenue producing sport. it is my understanding that the university of texas at austin funds the minimum number of sports necessary to be at a division 1 level, and throws money at each one. until we have a much larger athletic budget and greater financial support from alumni, we might try to be successful at those sports we already have before making additions.even then, the fan support for our winning mens basketball team, for example, is pathetic. i can't imagine any better support for a mens baseball team than we have for our womens softball team. just my sunny opinion.

i think this is just an extension of dislike for him by the entire state of tennessee.i doubt anything comes of it.

looks great. we are very fortunate to have someone like harry to create such a quality and professional format. thanks for all you have done and continue to do for NORTH TEAS.
-
why would you want to add another underfunded sport at north texas?
-
why is it that when a coach or player leaves for a better opportunity he/she is a quitter? have you ever ever made a job/career change that you thought would be for the better for you and your family. to say that everyone who leaves north texas is a quitter is b.s.

thanks, i just figured out f.y.i. this week.

not to get ahead of myself, but will 2011 be a rebuilding year for our head foot ball coach, whoever he is? i think we have about 23 seniors on this team, which is 1st or 2nd in belt, and are still picked next to last in conference play by most pollsters. this doesn't say much for the quality of this class, or t.d.'s recruiting.am i missing something here?

QFT MEANS WHAT?
-
DODGE MUST WIN 7 GAMES this season to return in 2011. the real problem is that whoever is coach next year must rebuild a team that has done nothing past 3 seasons, and is projected to achieve little this year. i see no light at end of tunnel.

4 green seats for family.

EXACTLY! in addition, new mex.st. has NO INTEREST in moving to belt.[ denton would be a 10 hr. drive, with all others futher west.]. a 10 team belt conference works well with 9 league games, 3 ooc. i would like to boot denver and ualr, and replace with utsa and texas st. when available. this would give us a west division with ark st., ull, ulm, utsa, and tex. st. wac is desperate to find a 9th school because of concerns regarding staying power of la. tech, who will not join belt as long as ulm is a member.if ulm were to drop back to southland because of finances, then la. tech might move to the belt. it will be interesting to see what consultant recomends. if it looks like cusa door to the future is closed, perhaps wac makes sense for us.

What North Texas' Uniforms Should Look Like
wardly replied to NThomas's topic in Mean Green Football
i like idea of green helment with all green uniforms for road and all white for home. i would put the "talon" on helment, "north texas" on front of jersy, and "mean green/eagle" shoulder patch. -
i would like to see a "talon"[eagle claw] on the helment, simular to clemson's use of a tigers paw. i would like to see green helments/uniforms simular to marshall's. i would like to see a winning team, simular to troy,s. i would like to see the north texas dancers wear even less, simular to the million dollar saloon. i would like to see the market at 14,000, simular to 1997/98. i would like to see well enought to find my meds,........

the state of new mexico is basically broke, and nmsu recently reduced their athletic budget by $1.5 million. in addition, their football program is actually worse than ours, they are a 10 hr. drive from denton, and have about a 100,000 population base.i don't see that they bring much to the table, plus the belt might increase their travel cost.i also don't see any interest on their part in moving from the wac.in addition, texas state and utsa are the only two schools on your list that i am aware of presently committed to a 1a football program. has ark.st. indicated an interest in moving to the wac?
-
agreed. la. tech would like to join cusa/ west, as would we. hell will freeeze over before they join same conference as ulm. having said that, all lousiana schools are in financial trouble, with ulm the most as they have a very small athletic budget for a 1a program. if they are forced back to southland, then all bets are off regarding la.tech and the belt. in addition, we are being very shortsighted if we overlook the markets that texas state and utsa would bring to either the wac or belt. i think that with exception of ull, all existing belt members have a 1aa background. i don't understand thinking of those who look down on 1a want-a-be programs. the belt is just a glorified 1aa conference, and in fact is rated by polsters below several 1aa conferences. i have been a unt supporter since freshman year of 61', and lately with all discussions regarding realignment have come to believe that we have an inflated opinion of our value to any conference. just an opinion.

besides, i never liked being around drunks, even when i was one.

the last thing smu and tcu want is a successful large state university [north texas]to compete against in the metroplex. the difference between the two is smu is open about it. regarding la.tech/ulm,it seems more personal.
-
please refer to smu/unt.same problem. two programs in same market, and one looks down on the other.
-
like north texas, they are looking to future conference realignment that may enhance their cusa chances. i wish we could aford to have another series with them, but both programs need occ paydays.
-
when checking college sports at ft. worth star telegram on line there is information on,texas,a$m,tt,okla, okla st, baylor, uta, and smu, but no longer north texas. any one know why?

Interesting Realignment Talk As It Relates To Unt
wardly replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
the reason the difference is only 3, according to your data, is that our football program is so bad it drags the wac down, and our departure increases belt average by that number. no wonder conferences are beating a path to our door. -
Interesting Realignment Talk As It Relates To Unt
wardly replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
tcu refuses to play us in football, and both smu and horned frogs refuse to share dfw market with unt.i suggest we get real. its either wac or belt for us, which considering our most recent lack of success in football[ 5 years and counting] and our poor support of a successful basketball program[less than 3,000 average attendance] is probably where we belong AT THIS POINT IN TIME! -
montana has hired consultant to review their athletic program. president stated they are not going anywhere without montana state. interest by fanbase in moving up appears to be lukewarm at best.
