  1. makes you wonder how general george patton ever got fired for slapping a g.i. during ww2. now if he had been a football coach,........
  2. boys, lighten up.it was evidently defined by employers who have all the facts and made their decision based upon same. bottom line is r.v. can't afford to give either a second chance, since this will be his second chance. i am not being holier than thou, but am not supportive of hiring a coach who is suiting his previous employer. looks like a red flag to me. but hey, i was for hiring t.d.
  3. considering the posts supporting two coaches who were fired for abusing players,i just thought we would cut to the chase and go after the real deal. this post seems to fit in nicely with those. i would hate to post something considered idiotic by the boards legal experts.
  4. does anyone know if dave bliss can coach football? he seems to fit in with what we want.
  5. i don't think we can afford to take a chance on a former head coach with baggage after our last bad hire. i just can't believe that we can't find a successful head coach with character, instead of a retread who was fired from his last job. let some other program give these guys a second chance. we need to give someone a first chance. just an opinion.
  6. regarding ONE TIME hitting a player, suck one _ _ _ _ and you are a _ _ _ _ sucker forever.
  7. i don't know if football was any cleaner, but regardless i think you hit the nail on the head. its called "character", something those who abuse players lack, and what t.d. had in spades.
  8. i guess i expect a higher stander of conduct for teachers and preachers.
  9. just asking but he was a flop at a&m, just 5 games over 500 in 5 years. any reason why? good coaches usually don't get fired, unless they abuse their players or screw their sectuary.
  10. i have a hard time believing your version of his actions unless you were there.[ sounds more like the "grassey knoll" than actual fact.] i personally have no interest in hiring a coach whatever his record who was previously fired from his position for abusing his players in whatever fashion, and would no longer financially support out football program should we do so. i also would not hire a bully like bobby knight either. there are just too many good coaches with great character available. just my opinion.
  11. plus he hits his players harder than opponents do, and doesn't mine lieing about it, which should help in recruiting and in dealing with ncaa.
  12. "little " fran could be under consideration with his jc track record. troy has been very successful in recruiting jc players from the southeast.
  13. regardless of who we hire, it will be someone with successful head coaching experience who was not previously fired for abusing his players or sexual misconduct. r.v. cannot afford to take a chance on an o.c. or retread h.c. with baggage.
  14. fired,fired,fired,and fired.
  15. we have had 1 winning coach in the past 30 years, and only a grad 50 years old or older remembers it. i am 67, and barely remember "oldest" mitchel, who coached when i was a student. if you can count your winning coaches on 1 hand, you don't have many.
  16. i still don't know what he said. can you help me out?
  17. what exactly did he say that wasn't true?
  18. it would appear that the only former coaches this board is interested in hiring has been fired from their previous job for a] abusing players b] screwing their secretary.c] a combination of the above
  19. if mangino will work for food, can we afford to feed him?
  20. and his oc was named hc for remainer of season. sounds like a plan that we should follow. reasign td now, as we can't afford to fire him, and move on.
  21. thats kind of a reach. correct me if i am wrong, but i think we have lost 4 players to broken bones, 1 to a dislocated hip, and the remainder to acl tears. i have a hard time laying these injuries at the feet of any particular coach. however, the acl injuries COULD be due to players being physically overmatched.just speculation on my part.
  22. todays game shows to be on metro t.v. any idea what channel?
  23. this is one of worse coached teams i have ever seen, especially T.d.'s 1st two years. he inherited a defense with 9 returning starters, 2 of which were pre season all conference, and turned them into a joke. he has recruited poorly, and has nearly 20 seniors on a team that was picked next to last in the belt. he is a bad hire, and must be replaced. i feel for the injured players, and admit having seen nothing like it in my decades of watching college football. having said that, life isn't fair or there wouldn't be wheelchairs. its time for a change.
  24. except for the part about hitting a player, lying about it, and trying to get others to cover up for him. maybe we could get him as h.c. and leach as o.c. we might not win many games, but our coaches wouldn't take crapp from any of the players. where is woody hayes when we need him?
  25. how much can we spend, and how do you know?
