  1. plus he hits his players harder than opponents do, and doesn't mine lieing about it, which should help in recruiting and in dealing with ncaa.
  2. "little " fran could be under consideration with his jc track record. troy has been very successful in recruiting jc players from the southeast.
  3. regardless of who we hire, it will be someone with successful head coaching experience who was not previously fired for abusing his players or sexual misconduct. r.v. cannot afford to take a chance on an o.c. or retread h.c. with baggage.
  4. fired,fired,fired,and fired.
  5. we have had 1 winning coach in the past 30 years, and only a grad 50 years old or older remembers it. i am 67, and barely remember "oldest" mitchel, who coached when i was a student. if you can count your winning coaches on 1 hand, you don't have many.
  6. i still don't know what he said. can you help me out?
  7. what exactly did he say that wasn't true?
  8. it would appear that the only former coaches this board is interested in hiring has been fired from their previous job for a] abusing players b] screwing their secretary.c] a combination of the above
  9. if mangino will work for food, can we afford to feed him?
  10. and his oc was named hc for remainer of season. sounds like a plan that we should follow. reasign td now, as we can't afford to fire him, and move on.
  11. thats kind of a reach. correct me if i am wrong, but i think we have lost 4 players to broken bones, 1 to a dislocated hip, and the remainder to acl tears. i have a hard time laying these injuries at the feet of any particular coach. however, the acl injuries COULD be due to players being physically overmatched.just speculation on my part.
  12. todays game shows to be on metro t.v. any idea what channel?
  13. this is one of worse coached teams i have ever seen, especially T.d.'s 1st two years. he inherited a defense with 9 returning starters, 2 of which were pre season all conference, and turned them into a joke. he has recruited poorly, and has nearly 20 seniors on a team that was picked next to last in the belt. he is a bad hire, and must be replaced. i feel for the injured players, and admit having seen nothing like it in my decades of watching college football. having said that, life isn't fair or there wouldn't be wheelchairs. its time for a change.
  14. except for the part about hitting a player, lying about it, and trying to get others to cover up for him. maybe we could get him as h.c. and leach as o.c. we might not win many games, but our coaches wouldn't take crapp from any of the players. where is woody hayes when we need him?
  15. how much can we spend, and how do you know?
  16. he was 5 games over 500 in 5 years. if we can't find someone better that is affordable, then we need to drop football and add mens soccer to play in new stadium. by the way, latest sagarin ratings has us 196th out of 245 schools playing division 1a and 1aa ball, just behind prairie view a&m. in fact, we are the lowest rated 1a program listed, with new mexico at 191. who ever we hire is getting a bucket of crapp.
  17. agreed! except for bob tyler in 1982 {2&9], hayen fry was last experienced hc hired, and he was dropped in our lap.in last 20 years, we have hired 2 high school head coaches , neither who had a winning season. between those 2 bad hires we had matt simon, who had 1 winning season and conference title in 4 years, and darrell dickey, who had 3 winning seasons and 4 conference titles in 9 years. since his last winning season [7&5] in 2004, we have won [i think] 11 games in 5&1/2 seasons, and have become the weakest team in the weakest 1a conference. moving into a new stadium, we cannot afford another "grand experiment", and must hire an experienced successful head coach, preferably one who was not fired from his previous job. just an opinion.
  18. i agree with those who want an exprienced head coach, and hope we are past hiring "on the cheap". however, this decision, like all business decisions, boils down to " what do we want, what do we need, and what are we willing and able to pay for." i think most of us can" basically,"[ and i use the term loosely],agree upon questions 1&2. where the rubber meets the road is question #3, which only r.v. knows. i would hope that it is in the $400,000 to $500,000 range, which should give be enought to hire a proven head coach.
  19. i don't know about the ucf job, as their present coach has been there 6 years or so. however, he did turn down the memphis job, hense his pay increase at mtsu. thanks for correcting me regarding his present salary, as i couldn't remember the exact amount. we should be able to get an experienced h.c. for that kind of money.
  20. i think middle tennessee pays its hc $600,000 per year, while we are a little less that $300,000. which is about average in the belt. i would hope that we would double what we are paying td and get an experienced h.c. i just don't think we can afford to hire an up and coming o.c. with the sad state we find our program in.
  21. jerry jones is only one i am aware of that hires his assistants seperately from his head coach. usually a new broom sweeps clean.
  22. i hope you are right, but we are the worst team in the worst 1a football conference in america.
  23. i have seen our team the last 6 years. hard to get optimistic.
