i have been to 2 games in past 4 years at their soccer field stadium. basically fau is a commuter school who is trying to develope a campus life.
-
we can always look forward to their game with la/monroe in ft. worth next season.
-
thanks for info. very nice offer.
-
when you say "underwrite the entire program",what did that include? the cost of a new $5 million+ stadium, cost of coaches, equiment, scholarships, etc. i must have slept thru that. just asking.
-
sent to emmitt jackson.
-
tickets in mail to john davidson.

i have 1 free floor ticket, row 1,seat 2, to 1st snail mail adress sent to wardly@tx.rr.com. i actually have season tickets for seats 1&2, but have lost seat 1 ticket for this game. i'm sure if you explain this to floor ticket taker she will give you a pass. usually rick, josh, are cooper are around and they will help you if for some reason she won't. just tell them you are guest of ward white, who lost one of the tickets. enjoy, ward

utsa is a commuter school, which is what we were in the 60's, and what uta still is. i would think they have minimal dorm space, and attract older students who work their way through college. this setting is not condusive to devoeloping a sense of "belonging", something we have struggled with for decades. i have a hard time believing they will be an overnight success as regards community support. by the same token, i wish them well. it would be nice if we had an intra state rival such as them or texas st., who i think could be more successful in the long run.

on what do you base your statement that vito doesn't watch the games? just asking.

montana did not rebuff the wac as much as they dismissed the idea of moving up as to expensive. ull, like la tech, wants to get away from ulm, but the wac is not the answer as they have no money. when the smoke clears, the wac will look like a combo of Southland conference and the Belt.
-
i'm afraid i set it, got put on double secret probation, where i remain with a "warn" status instead of a scarlet letter.
-
does anyone know if lamar is planning to move up in football to 1a? the wac fan forum's keep refering to lamar as their 8th team.
-
i don't see what you gain by pushing la monroe out to gain la tech. they are both underfunded programs in the same rual area. looks like we could take the 10 we have, add utsa, texas state, and move on. n. mexico st. brings nothing to the table.

california, new mexico, and louisiana budget cuts effect their universities more because they receive state funding for athletics[i know n. mexico and la. schools do, not sure about california]. as i mentioned before, sdsu, fsu, and sjsu have same chancellor who wants all 3 schools in the same conference. hence, sjsu has a sponser for admittance, which we don't. again, my personal opinion is that we are no better off being the most eastern member of mwc than being the most western member of sbc. travel expenses kill you, and while our athletic budget is healthy for the belt, i doubt it would be so for mwc.if the athletic department agrees with this supposition, then our only option is to build the belt and hope for future regional realignment opportunities. a final note; because of time difference, our local media exposure was very limited when we were members of Big West.when i look at smu, rice and tulsa's experience in wac, i see the same thing. i also think that tcu was handicaped media wise as well. just an old man's opinion.
-
this is just my gut feeling, as no one has shared privy info with me, but i don't think it was/is ever our plan to go west again, whether it be big west, wac, mwc, big sky, etc;i also feel that our sports consultant was in agreement with our game plan, which appears to build the belt untill we have a chance to move into a "southwest regional conferense." if utep had moved to mwc, you can be assured rv and rawlings would have been all over cusa.

Chancellor Jackson Discusses Tier One Drive On Kera
wardly replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
1]our state charter is to be a regional university system 2]people,power,money, and regional politics are in BIG D, not little d. 3]we now have a law school. whether our state needed one is subject for debate 4]if Jackson can get us a school of pharmacy, which our state does need, then in my book he has done well.5]i don't know if it is his job to grow the denton campus, or that is the responsibility of Dr.Rawlings. i do think that Jackson's 3 main jobs at this point is to continue to grow the dallas campus, get the dallas law school up and running, and secure a college of pharmacy for the denton campus. this is just an old man's opinion. if i understand correctly, the law school will be named the university of north texas at dallas school of law, not the university of north texas school of law at dallas. if so, this means to me that long term the dallas campus will assume more importance in our system. -
A "field Trip" For My Daughter's Basketball Team
wardly replied to chrisfisher's topic in Mean Green Basketball
my grandson [3rd grade] plays in a RICHARDSON basketball league. after their saturdays game, they were all going to SMU basketball game. looks like the ponies had some type of youth promotion to get fans in the stands. -
not a given that mwc will expand, but if they do, my $ is on sjsu and usu. sdsu, fresno, and sjsu have same chancellor who wants them together, plus the spartans bring a lot of tv sets [ they may not be turned on, but....]. usu is getting alot of corporate backing, including DESERET,a health care company that i think is either owned or affiliated in some manner with the MORMON CHURCH. a lot of balls in the air, lets see where they fall.

ernie was a pika at north texas in early 60's. he went on to law school and has done very. you golfers are familar with his daughter kelli, and sons tripp and hank.

the spuds from u.of idaho are putting $30 million into their stadium with ground level boxes, and have future plans to lower field and add 8 to 10,000 more seats. in addition, the just signed a 2 for 1 series with tcu beginning next year, something we have been unable to do. it just points out how competative it is in todays college football environment, both on and off the field. our new stadium and staff could not have come at a better time.

Who Are Y'all Opening Up The New Stadium Against?
wardly replied to Metropolis777's topic in Mean Green Football
t.c.u. just sighed a 2 for 1 with idaho. why not us? -
we can't get no respect. ull,a.state, kent state, and ball state make the top 20 coaching hires, but no unt.
-
i was at game, sat in memphis section. tigers looked like they had about 300+fans, but just a guess.

some of the states,[not all of them,] allocate state funds for construction of athletic facalities. i know new mexico does, but don't know which do in the belt. makes a big difference if you don't need a construction campaign. also, we only average 3,000 in basketball for a team that has been to ncaa's twice in past 4 years. i doubt you would average 300 for a start-up baseball program. what does uta averge?
