Mean Green Recruit Class Gets A D Grade
wardly replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
yet we love then when they rated our band one of the best,if not the best -
I don't know anything about tennis complex, but we have $3million pledged towards baseball park.

What really hurt us last year was poor play in the red zone. We would try, more unsuccessfully than not, to run the ball more than pass, which might of been lack of confidence in our qb.

I discussed uniforms with R.V. and Hank Wednesdat night. They both said uniforms were Mac's call [i didn't get into helments, because Rick is set on North Texas]. However, we will have throwback uniforms one game, and a special uniform another. Rick doesn't like black because our colors are green and white. I reminded him that TCU's colors are purple and white, and that their black and purple uniforms look pretty good. We are fighting a losing battle on Helments. It will either be "North Texas" or the "SOW". If we go to letters, then administration will force "UNT", which no one I have talked to or seen posts from wants.

Rivals Latest Rankings of All 123 NCAA FBS Schools
wardly replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Boys, the end of the known world is near when New Mexico State is ranked ahead of us.Plus Texas State ranked 82 if memory serves vs our TIE for 116th out of 123 programs. Its hard to sugar coat s_ _ t, but we seen to keep trying. I just can't believe coach Mac blows off our recruiting standing, when it certainly appears the higher your class is rated the better team you seem to field. So far its been all smoke and no fire. -
I didn't, and should not have brought up Texas State as as example. My bad. Also, just comparing their results at Houston last year vs. ours.Main point is it appears, and i certainly could be wrong, that we have a larger number of transfers and juco's this year than past, and I don't see a big leap from the type of players that Dickey brought in.Hope I am dead wrong.
-
Thanks for the information. I guess the # of their 3 star signings blinded me.
-
Just a question, not an opinion, but are we going the JUCO route vs. Texas State, who seems to be building a solid[and maybe better] program thru the high school ranks.? I hate to say it, but Texas State seems to be kicking ass in recruiting, and certainly could kick ours on the field.

I just don't see much difference between Mac's classes and Dickey's.In fact,with few exceptions,I don't see any. -
Any Need/Chance at Jumping on one of these players late
wardly replied to MeanGreen1984's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
What happened to kid from De Soto that had his offer pulled by Mike Leach a week or two ago? -
Looks like he could have waited a week if it was his choice to leave.

Best outcome would be Sun Belt for football only, and MWC for all other sports. That would offset Hawaii in MWC for football only, and all other sports in Big West.
-
Anyone know the story behind his departure, especially at this late date in recruiting process?

Gee, I really do hope you are right,as we have only had one basketball player in history who was drafted [in 2nd round but didn't,make the grade]" Absurb, moron, stupid "seems a little harsh, but then again I don't claim to be a basketball expert and was just passing along information that I thought might be of interest.[ And he really is an NBA scout.] On another note, I went to pre NIT and the shuttle driver took a Denver scout who had flown in specifically to see Mitchell play and ,according to the driver, he said the same thing , that he sees him in college next year, not the NBA. I personally hope nothing but the best for Mitchell, but you seem like a real jerk.

I guess you are right. It's pretty absurd coming from someone who makes a living scouting college players vs. someone like you who.......

Taking an early stab at a prediction on UTSA football
wardly replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
And we care about UTSA's record because......... -
Perhaps, and I hope so. But he would have been best served by coming out last year. His poor play this year has really hurt him, and what he doesn't need is another year under Bedford. It will be interesting to see if he even makes all conference in the Belt.
-
An acquaintance of mine's son is an NBA scout, who says no way Mitchell gets drafted. How do you not score a point in a Sunbelt game? He is good athletic, more of a slasher, and not a good shooter. Bedford doesn't know what to do with him, playing him out of position as a center. Only way he has a shot at NBA is if he does well at combine before next years draft. I'm just the messenger.

Year 3 will be critical for McCarney and UNT
wardly replied to stryker's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree that looking at our schedule we should fall in the 4&8 worse case and 6&6 as best. What concerns me is that I don't see any difference in the 3A and 4A players Dickey recruited and the level of athletics Mac is bringing in.Regarding Dodge, we are still paying for his last 2 years. -
I love it! Why don't you please forward to Rick and Coach Mac? This is the best NT uniform I have ever seen! Thanks,Ward White, class of 66'.

Thanks Diamond Eagle. -
Our football program finally made the top 10 in something. Bleacher Report ranks us #9 in top 25 teams who need a uniform upgrade.
