Tulsa plays at Ohio Thursday, and are 3.5 point underdogs.

Interesting interview in USA Today with Gary Paterson of TCU. He says that he once didn't think that uniforms mattered in recruiting, but that it does.

I lived in West dorm for 1 semester, fall of 61', and there were 3 to a room, which was only large enough for 2,and that was a stretch. It was the only men's dorm available, and I bailed as soon as I could to apartment living.I do not look back at West dorm with fond memories, as you probably would have had more room and privacy in Huntsville.

If anyone wants to know how good/bad we will be this season, just check the odds in Las Vegas each game we play.

I believe you.In New Mexico they are called horned lizards, in Cowtown we called them horned frogs. I don't recall if they had a tail like a lizard or a rump like a frog.
-
Actually I believe its a Horned Toad. I grew up in Ft. Worth during the 50's and 60's, and they were everywhere. Then along came Red Ants, and the pesticides used to kill them also croaked the Toads.

College Football Poll Predicts 9-3 Season For Mean Green

This has us winning all CUSA matches except Tulsa. We wish! -
Lets see how we look at home as an underdog against Ball State, which could be a true indicator as to our teams potential this season.Just an opinion.
-
I don't think some of us accept how bad we really are.The Sagarin rating, which I find very accurate and includes 1aa schools, ranks us 131st out of 251 programs. This puts us behind powerhouses such as Buffalo,Chattanooga,Townson, and Wofford, just to name a few.

What I wouldn't give for another Scott Hall! -
The coach of Washington Redskins, whose name escapes me, once said "the future is now". This is Mac's 3rd year, has a senior team, and needs to win this season or they may not be a next.

Speaking of golf, wonder why the recent announcement regarding the partnership between Trophy Club and North Texas regarding the creation of Eagles practice facility was not posted, or did I just miss it?

Collegiate Licensing Company Names Top Selling Universities

For a University that offers a degree in Marketing, we sure don't know how to do it. -
That sounds to me a like a lot like Darrell Dickey's offense when we were winning conference championships.

We are at the point in our program that winning now is more important that perceived future victories. This team can be either 7&5 with a few breaks on the road,or 5&7 without them. Just an old man's opinion.

Good news and bad news out of #1 UNT scrimmage
wardly replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I count 50 winning seasons out of 99. If we have another losing record this year as predicted, we will end 100 years of football at 50-50. -
As a observation, we tend to spend too much time dwelling on the past and too little on the future, which looks bright to me.
-
What about TCU? They have been very good the past 10 years or so, but before........

There is a reason we are ranked preseason between UTEP and UTSA in CUSA/West,and in the bottom 10% in the nation and it's not because of below average QB play or just average O line play. It's because we are a bad TEAM .Orr and Lemon may be stars for the Eagles, but didn't even make 2nd team all conference..I see little difference in the 2a, 3a& 4a kids coach Mac is bringing in than those recruited by coach Dickey. And if Thompson is so bad,how come we have no one who can take away his starters role ? .Mac is in his 3rd year, and we are hoping for 4 to 6 wins. I have been following Eagle football since 61', and while we are certainly better than when coach Dodge was losing games,we are not nearly as good as when coach Dickey was winning them.Bottom line: are we as good a TEAM as we were when we won 4 Sun Belt championships in a row, because that is my gold standard.

Lack Of Friging Talent
-
I guess you are right. Any team ranked in the bottom 10% of 1a teams in the nation must have a great O line. That's why we rank so high in rushing. If you can't run, you can't pass.By the by,when both 1a and 1aa rankings are combined,we will wind up somewhere between 150th and 175th.Without a winning season in 10 years, we have become the New Mexico State of Texas. In golf, it's called L.O.F.T., as noted by the number of Eagles picked preseason all conference, none.
-
I think you can make up for "some" lack of talent with pure guts.Riley Dodge was not the most talented QB we have ever had,but had more guts that any Eagle that I can recall. Thompson is,in my opinion, an average QB who for the 1st time in his career is healthy and has a decent O line. In addition,he appears to be the "pick of the litter ",so how about some support for our starting QB.

In order for us to have a true rival, such as La. Tech.,we are going to have to travel as well as Houston does.[note tongue in cheek]
