I flew with team in 1988 to Huntington for 1aa play off game. We lost 7 to 0, big fight on field, rocks thrown at our bus, bomb threat at airport. Regarding their fans, looked like a lot in inbreeding. There was a West Virginia story about young man and woman getting married, and the next day the groom took his bride back to her parents. The grooms father asked his son what the problem was on their wedding night, and son responded that his bride was a virgin. The father told his son that he had done the right thing, that if she wasn't good enough for her own family she wasn't good enough for his.

In my opinion, our only goal should be to come out of this game with a starting QB. If I were coach for a qame, I would play DW for 60 minutes and see what we really have. The next week is a bye, so we have time to make adjustments. Bottom line:what we are doing isn't working, and unless we get better play at QB we might as well write this season off. As it stands, I think we are looking at 5&7, maybe worse.

It's not always about t.v. sets, otherwise La. Tech would be it The Belt. Marshall has elevated their program above the herd[pun intended] . In my opinion, the AAC is a better overall conference with bigger pay days.

I am going to IU/UNT game, but I don't think we can stay on the field with them, or Bowling Green for that matter.

Spread has dropped from 6.5 to 3.5. Money is on La. Tech.
-
Our QB play did not lose the game, which was my major concern, and should improve as season progresses.
-
The SMU fans left for a different reason.

Very poor turnout. Maybe SMU isn't a rival after all. What will it take to sell out stadium?
-
Who do we have to play to get a sell out?

Run And Shoot Dismantled by Team Playing Football 101

Reminds me of Darrell's early Sun Belt teams. -
Easier to spell.

UTSA looked good tonight, and I personally pull for all CUSA teams. Unless we get much better much faster they will kick our butt at seasons end.

North Texas versus SMU: The Rivalry (Or Is It?)

This game could be a pillow fight. -
As a 66' UNT graduate I see nothing to argue with. He hit the nail on the head on all points.

Takes 2 to make a rivalry, and they don't consider us equals. -
Official SMU Game Score Prediction Thread
wardly replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Football
Sagarin rates us 91st, 2 spots behind powerhouse New Hampshire and 11 behind SMU. Based upon his formula, we are a 4 point dog at home. Over the decades I have found Sagarin the most accurate of any rating service. Could be a real pillow fight, although the Mustangs have a QB that looks like he can scramble.I make it 21 to 7,SMU. -
It's about market size, not product on field or court. However, I would let FIU join just to see their dance team at basketball tournament.I also would like to see A-State and ULL if conference expands to 16, but they don't bring enough t.v. sets to the table.By the way, what happened to the successful FIU football coach fired a few years ago?

Game looks familiar.

The pay off for a "money game" appears to be between $800,000 and $1,000,000, and until our alumni giving base expands we will need to play at least one per year.It use to be that you scheduled one non conference you should win, one you might win, and one you would need divine intervention to win. That appears to sum up this years schedule, with SMU and Indiana as "mights".

We knew that we didn't have an experienced QB when the season started, and will take our lumps early in the season until one appears.Having said that, I certainly didn't think our performance at Texas would be "worst then terrible" as my Army D.I. was fond of saying. Otherwise, at first blush I still think we have a decent chance at 7&5.

CFB Fan Equity (Non-Power Conf) - Emory Sports Mkting Analytics
wardly replied to jdennis82's topic in Mean Green Football
So 5 of the worst football programs rank in top 10 as regards fan equity? You got some splanein to do, Lucy. -
I don't see how we are considered favorites with only 9 returning starters and unresolved quarterback status, I put us behind UTSA and Rice. Also, FAU is better than a 6&6 team, as they lost several close games last year. Besides SMU, I think they might be the most dangerous home game we have.
