I have slept since then, but as I recall Buddy Temple was tasked with closing small state universities because did not attract enough students and were not economically feasible to operate. Because of politics he was unable to do this. However, the smaller schools, such as WTSU,ETSU,,Pan American,Tarlton State, etc. became part of either the TA&M or Texas systems[uTA switched from from A&M to Texas]. North Texas State declined to become a part of the Texas System, and TWU wanted no part of us.The upshoot was that TA&M,Texas,TT,UNT, and one other school[either Houston or SFA] increased academic requirements and put somewhat of a cap on campus housing in an effort to drive enrollment to underutilized campuses. I have often wondered how we would have faired as part of the UT system. At any rate, I think my account is close enough for government work, but certainly am open to corrections.

It's not exactly a big time New Year's Day Bowl. Probably a leg up on Armed Forces Bowl in Ft. Worth. We had the 1aa Championship game in Frisco before a sellout [20,000] crowd featuring N. Dakota St., who won for the 3rd year in a row. How much local coverage did the game get? ZIP!

My son is a UAB grad, and the problem is Bear Bryant Jr. As long as he is head of Alabama's BOR,[ or alive] UAB will not be allowed to replace Legion Field, which is literality falling down. It is a dead end job, but then,so is North Texas. Hayden Fry and Jerry Moore are only head football coachs that I can think of that stepped up when they left, and J.J, the only head basketball coach.

Petrino back to Louisville , Brohm to take over at WKU
wardly replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
Louisville's head basketball coach has had similar problems. Screwed a woman in back of a restaurant while an assistant coach stood guard. If memory serves, assistant coach later marries her, messy divorce, sues head coach, public apology, etc.I have slept since this happened, but you get the general idea. -
What is he thinking? TT will not let him go to Oklahoma, and if they did, he would be right back where he started;walking on without a scholarship. Kid's getting bad/no advice, and if he is,not taking it.

Only if they change their name to "Eppy".

There is a difference between decals, such as an eagle,on the helmet, and a performance sticker, such as a talon. However, at my age my wife no longer gives me stickers, so no, I don't like them.

It's probably too late to drop 2014 game, but I would not be surprised to have them cancel the remainder of the series due to "conference scheduling problems."

Petrino back to Louisville , Brohm to take over at WKU

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. -
Diamond Eagle, in a perfect world I would love to see your interlocking NT with the star on our helmet and forget the bird.
-
Not a fan of stickers. Love the interlocking NT, but just glad to see a change. If Rick goes to letters,it is my understanding he will be hard pressed by administration to use UNT, which I really don't like.

The kind of a-hole Charlie Strong inherits from Mack
wardly replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
There are some "Cheetos" who swear that the Sabin's had looked at housing in Austin , were waiting for an offer, and that somehow Mac Brown kept it from happening. All I know for sure is that "Big Red" and some other deep pockets are pissed about not being included in the hiring process, and that if Strong doesn't make it,Patterson won't either. -
I talked to Eric Capper yesterday, and he said that he would follow up with HOD and see if there were any programs left. If so, he would try to get them and make available to UNT fans.

SMU added suites, which should sell fast. In addition, I think they will have a good team.I plan on going to the Memphis game.
-
In answer to the question, I think both SMU and TCU are ahead of us,especially the Ponies. I also think SMU will draw very well in basketball. They have a good product and great venue which is in the backyard of their fan base.North Texas,on the other hand, will be lucky to average 2,000+ this year.

T.C.U. has built a very good program with basically getting " the best of the rest", and we can too.

where can I find the hats the team wore after the game?
wardly replied to pogWo4life's topic in Mean Green Football
Coolest shirt I saw was worn by a young woman, and the back said,"I love GOD,sweet tea, and The University of North Texas". I was too slow to catch up with her and ask where she got it.. -
Great Job to the Mean Green Athletic Department
wardly replied to UNTLifer's topic in Mean Green Football
In the real world the ticket manager should be replaced. However, state institutions are similar to U.S. government. Responsibility without accountability. -
I didn't many name coaches breaking down the door for the Texas job. Wonder why?

We don't travel well during the season, period. Bowl games are a different story, as we did o.k. going to New Orleans. I would hope that we get a chance to play in the Armed Forces bowl in Ft. Worth, and think with our strong showing at HOD bowl we should. What our immediate goal should be is to get some HOD attendees to find their way to Denton during regular season.
-
Harry, suggest you contact Eric Capper, explain lack of program availability at game, and ask him to follow up with HOD bowl. He should be able to get whatever was left over, and make them available thru the ticket office[i'm sorry guys. I just couldn't help myself]. At any rate, I'm sure Eric would help if asked.
