  1. And the Offense was not that good either, lots of yards, poor running game, too many turnovers, Vizza leads the nation in INT. So you are correct a good offense would help the defense. I would like to know what our pts per yard average is compared to other teams. This would tell us how effecient we are in scoring, but take out defensive/special team scores, blocked punt, INT, fumble recovery for TD's. Another need is consistancy in the play from game to game.
  2. You must be a BIG OU FAN, all your information and quotes are OU based.
  3. I agree 100%
  4. Only 19 offensive pts on FIU, that is just as bad as the special teams and defense
  5. I look at the Navy game and think of all the offense UNT scored and wonder if the Navy DC was thinking, "How can this team score 62 pts on us?"
  6. I agree, Defense was big tonight, so were the special teams, to help the Offense and Defense. Special Teams directly affected 14 pts with a blocked punt for 7pts and kickoff fumble recovery to help the Offense score 7pts to open the 2nd half.
  7. Look at the history, 3 yrs in a row, lose to SLC, not exactly fall apart. One year was State Semi-Final.
  8. Blame should be placed on all three sides of the ball, offense, defense, and special teams. Offense - only 17 pts on 360 yds, 10 pts are directly the responsibility of the defense and special teams. 160 yds passing, 220 rushing, that has not been the ratio this season. But we controled the time of posession, a theme for most of the year. Special Teams - blocked field goal and blocked punt, but missed field goal that could have changed the mental, strategic attitude, and clock management on the last drive. Kickoffs were short all night, allowing good field position. Defense - bending but not breaking and allowing 7 pts in the first half. Contained the run but could not contain the pass, the run was suppose to be ASU's strength. We get burned on passing and give up over 480 yds. So your statement of NO BLAME AT ALL ON THE OFFENSE is inaccurate.
  9. I agree, look at the stats, only 160 yds passing, 220 yds rushing. When did we have that many yds rushing this season? TD made adjustments and took what the defense was giving.
  10. It is obvious you are not intelligent enough to understand sarcastic undertones and can only resort to name calling.
  11. I was able to get inside info from some ASU OL and he said that the Defense was much better than they expected based upon stats and film. They were very surprised about their speed.
  12. I second that, Shutter, the most educated, well thought out idea of the evening.
  13. Usually, but tonight it was not Open at all, 120 yds passing, but against a good secondary and 50th ranked defense.
  14. That is dumb as well
  15. About as dumb as firing Mendoza for tonights performance
  16. Offense only scored 17 pts, the defense and special teams contributed to 10 pts allowing the Offense the need to go 24 yds for those 10 pts. nearly 500 yds and only 17 pts is terrible
  17. I agree with you Rick. 17 pts on nearly 500 yds of offense, not a good night for Dodge
  18. Offense only had to go 24 yds for 10 of 27 pts, so 17 pts on nearly 450 yds total offense and only 6 pts in the second half, DODGE has to go with Mendoza
  19. ASU Announcers????
  20. WTF, TD. This one really sucks
  21. OOOHHHHHH, just nearly INT
  22. We may lose, we give up too many TD in under 2mins. We just missed the FG
  23. Offense had to go 4yds after the blocked punt for TD. Offense had to go 20yds for FG. Not exactly big number for 10pts
  24. We need to keep the ball and move it for a few first downs. Defense and Special Teams has done enough to help win the game but the Offense has been absent tonight
  25. Here is the NCAA Rule SECTION 2. Noncontact Fouls Unsportsmanlike Acts ARTICLE 1. There shall be no unsportsmanlike conduct or any act that interferes with orderly game administration on the part of players, substitutes, coaches, authorized attendants or any other persons subject to the rules, before the game, during the game or between periods. a. ( Taunting, baiting or ridiculing an opponent verbally. © Inciting an opponent or spectators in any other way, such as simulating the firing of a weapon or placing a hand by the ear to request recognition. (d) Any delayed, excessive, prolonged or choreographed act by which a player (or players) attempts to focus attention upon himself (or themselves). (e) Obviously altering stride as an unopposed runner approaches the opponent’s goal line, or diving into the end zone when unopposed. (f) Removal of a player’s helmet before he is in the team area (Exceptions: Team, media or injury timeouts; equipment adjustment; through play; between periods; and during a measurement for a first down). (g) Punching one’s own chest or crossing one’s arms in front of the chest while standing over a prone player. (h) Going into the stands to interact with spectators, or bowing at the waist after a good play. 2. After a score or any other play, the player in possession immediately must return the ball to an official or leave it near the dead-ball spot. This prohibits: (a) Kicking, throwing, spinning or carrying (including off of the field) the ball any distance that requires an official to retrieve it. ( Spiking the ball to the ground [Exception: A forward pass to conserve time (Rule 7-3-2-d)]. © Throwing the ball high into the air. (d) Any other unsportsmanlike act or actions that delay the game. PENALTY—Dead-ball foul. 15 yards [s7, S27] from the succeeding spot. Flagrant offenders, if players or substitutes, shall be disqualified [s47]. If a player or an identified squad member in uniform commits two unsportsmanlike fouls in the same game, he shall be disqualified. b. Other prohibited acts include: 1. During the game, coaches, substitutes and authorized attendants in the team area shall not be on the field of play or outside the 25-yard lines without permission from the referee unless legally entering or leaving the field (Exceptions: Rules 1-2-4-g and 3-3-8-c). Team area personnel who are outside the team area and who have involvement or impact on live-ball play are subject to penalty under Rule 9-1-4- a. 2. No disqualified person shall enter the field of play or end zones. 3. No person or mascot subject to the rules, except players, officials and eligible substitutes, shall be on the field of play or end zones during any period without permission from the referee. If a player is injured, attendants may come inbounds to attend him, but they must obtain recognition from an official. 4. No substitute(s) may enter the field of play or end zones for purposes other than replacing a player(s) or to fill a player vacancy(ies). This includes demonstrations after any play (A.R. 9-2-1-I). 5. Persons subject to the rules, including bands, shall not create any noise that prohibits a team from hearing its signals (Rule 1-1-6). PENALTY—Dead-ball foul. 15 yards [s7, S27] from the succeeding spot. Flagrant offenders, if players or substitutes, shall be disqualified [s47]. I thought both calls were TERRIBLE
