I struggle seeing how DW pick sixes is any worse than minimac's.

Hey Mark! Thanks for the contribution. Hmm.. i am not sure I would agree with that. I do actually think central america and many african nations are known for the long ball (and America too). Which is why you rarely see them go deep at all in the World Cup. But, Europe is known for a different style of play altogether that is a hybrid form of both possession and physical (England, Netherlands, Spain, and especially Germany are known for that) while South America I would describe as more finesse and possession mostly (brazil, chile, and argentina come to mind). I can not think of a true long-ball style of play that has ever won a tournament- Champions Cup, World Cup, or Regional Cups or otherwise.

Call me crazy but I get the impression that the entire world will watch this game.

UNT finalizing deal that with Incarnate Word for game in 2018

There simply is no explanation to it outside of that the AD wants it this way. As you mentioned and we all heard from the podcast, he would rather it be this way so we can get money. I recall Gene Stallings saying that we will not be successful until we quit playing money games and simply bite the bullet. He mentioned that the payoff would come in the long run. Hell, it worked for BSU, TCU, ECU, Marshall, etc etc. I like the AD for working to change the culture here at UNT. And he has done more than any of the AD's before him. But, I am really torn about my satisfaction of him on the job for scheduling. It seems pathetic. I would at least like to see us with some home and homes with New Mexico, ULM, La-La, New Mexico State, Texas State, Tulsa, Air Force, CSU, Arkansas State, Memphis, Tulane, etc if we can't get the bigger schools to come play. Is that so much to ask? -
This is a question that is likely out of ignorance more than anything else.... Is the zone read really a system that is allowing a QB play to win? I suppose it is more than the bus driver system we played last year and with McNulty... But, when I think of allowing a QB to play to win, I don't think of the zone read type system we pushed with Dajon starting.

Oh believe me, I am definitely aware that some on here are too prideful to admit a mistake.

I agree. I think it can work. But, rarely, if at all. And primarily against teams of like style. Possession tends to win out most every time. But, you rely on luck because long ball really limits creativity and lateral movement. It predominately is longitudinal with most efforts to hit the flags and send it in or hit the streaking forward. It is the easiest to defend because all you need to do is create smart and timely offensive traps or simply drop your defense back and cover. Our midfield looked rather weak during the game. Possession increases luck more than the long-ball style.

We can't have quotes like that here!? What are you thinking?!?! Andy Mac will should never be compared to such a fine figure of a man that is DT. Andy Mac did what we needed him to do. Let's hope for more! The only way I will concede to the DT debate is when we have someone on here who post regularly with the handle of the likeness of one Johnny Quinn fan we have here. Until then... well..

I think I just peed in my pants. -
It is hard to fault a coach like Hedlund who wins so often and keeps us in it year after year. So, his job should never be in jeopardy because we have a very solid, winning program. But, his style of play drives me crazy and it is a reason why we never win "the big game". He likes the long ball-type game using speedy forwards to run underneath on quick runs. It is either that or set pieces that he gets most of the goals from. There is a reason we have never won a NCAA tournament game-even when we were fortunate enough to play teams like SMU or Tech. Possession wins big games. Possession wins tournaments. Most of the time we lose in such games because long-ball relies on a lot of fortune bouncing your way... literally. It runs out because most of that play. And as you saw yesterday, the players seemed to get desperate and take ill-advised, low-percentage shots. We were never in this game. Possession can always trump that style of play as you saw yesterday from the championship game. We aren't the best at making crisps passes and we aren't really all that creative with our movement. Based purely on the game yesterday, it is really hard to see how we won the regular season. But, we did because Hedlund does a good job of bringing in good players from a soccer hot-bed that is North Texas area. Rice exemplified what creative movement, possession, ball control and smart runs look like. Play like that, and we will win even more games... say a 'big game' or two. And by big game, I mean a conferance tournament championship/NCAA tournament championship game. Just my two cents.

Perhaps maybe coach knew something about what he could and couldn't do against particular teams. I have a hard time believing that if coach believed he could do more that coach Mac wouldn't have given it to him.

If it wasn't for the investment the city put into the downtown corridor, I believe, none of these accolades would be coming our way. Kudos to the forward thinking leaders. I don't say that much... hardly at all with them really.. But, this one deserves praise.

I miss North Texas area food.

Not a glutton for punishment. I will await and hope he proves me wrong.

Technically, two goals will get them back in it.

Is that Josh Greer starting for the Cowboys?

It would be humorous if they finished 8-8. -

I recall he has made good hires in tennis, softball, volleyball... I'm not sure about anything else... He had a good girls BB hire that moved on to Texas too. -
I would say strong... to quite strong.

I just wished Forrest had a better attitude while here. He never fit in with the other players. And, that year I have never seen the team closer.

Jesus! Apples to Oranges. No amount of failure this year will get me to say what this article says. It is something you simply can't compare. Way too many changes from last year to this year to attribute our success to him last year or our failure without him this year. I give up on life.
