Can i be honest.. I almost wish it was an effort/heart issue as that seems to be the easiest to correct. What I am hearing is that they gave it their all... they gave everything and it simply was not even close to enough. That doesn't give me any hope for the future.

ok.. so if we are going to begin going the route of 1 big money game and 1 small nothing school every year.... then that we would likely only net what $300,000? Maybe.... I feel like a good solid home and home schedule would cover that and then some because you actually increase your chances of beating an equal or greater than school which will build us an actual program. the debbie downer in me says we will go 4-8 next year.

I am confused by this post... so did you hear of changes or did you not?

I blame him. He took a risk that put our last chance on the line and blew it. I don't blame him for trying. I blame him for not being successful. And if I were him, I would say the same thing.

I think embarrassing is the perfect word for it. We had a very favorable schedule and did absolutely nothing with it.

In football, they had the lowest attendance this year in over 15 years. Their average attendance: 27,000+ this year. And that seems to be actual butts in the seats as I have witnessed. You can expect BSU basketball to do fairly well. They have some pretty good recruits that have come in the past few years. They are a far superior program to ours. They are 4-1 with wins over Loyola and San Diego. Their only loss was to #3 Wisconsin. Their program is quite superior overall. Solid Cross Country. Not as good soccer program as ours (they were 10-8 for the season). Decent softball. Great men's tennis. Ok in women's tennis. Ok in Volleyball. Pretty crappy in wrestling.

I get your point and you are completely right and probably being the most fair in this situation. But, I can also understand the few remaining fans who have seen a rather alarming trend with Benford and his recruits. So, this is yet another possible bust and just another 'thing' that Benford hasn't been able to manage well. Whatever it is ( a kid?, health?, family?, legal?), I hope Wesley figures it out and is better for it. There are more important things than basketball and dealing with those things is important.

I remember the Trilli days. That was awful. But, being better than Trilli isn't our standard. In fact, our standard should be to match or exceed what we did the previous five years. And TB has simply not come close to JJ's last 5 and that is a problem. Even more so when you see who we couldn't beat. A lot of bad/beatables that really show where we are. If that wasn't enough, it is amazingly evident that RV and TB have lost all interest from the fans as it is a ghost town on game days. Clearly, this isn't the right direction.

I feel that after 4 20-win seasons in a row and winning seasons before and after that... it is quite reasonable to at the very smallest tiny least.... to have an over .500 record. But, 20 win seasons are not unreasonable... especially when we have played the cupcakes that JJ and TB schedule.

I agree. His efforts just didn't help much that game with all the turnovers. We were going to lose it by our defense anyway. He just made it even worse. Perhaps, he tries too hard and is not content with just settling for a zero sum play. That seems to hurt him most.

Do you think DM thinks differently? Why else would he not seek out a more formidable QB? Or is it simply that he doesn't believe we could get one so he would rather use a scholly elsewhere? Serious questions...

We would win more games with the entire team back minus DT. Maybe three of them and would be sitting in a similar position as we were last year. I think our big issues were far more that QB. And as I have said many times over... no amount of crappy QB play this year will have me say 'we miss last year's QB'. It simply doesn't matter and is comparing apples to oranges with so many gone. I appreciate DT doing well enough to be the bus driver of this team last year. But, I don't think him Mr. Incredible.
