  1. It is threads like these that make me wonder why I keep coming back.
  2. not in one of the big three. Softball has I believe. Tennis too??
  3. That's a good start to someone's head coaching career.
  4. Coach Mac wouldn't have been so discouraged if he was able to recruit and win with his own players. People would have showed up if he had put some wins together. Perhaps, not leave us in greater shambles than Dodge did...
  5. I think you bring up a great point with England. England is actually really bad in international play. They do poorly consistently in the World Cup and Eurocup for a reason. Possession ball like Brazil, Germany, Spain, and Argentina (to a lesser extent) is the way to go. Concern yourself with controlling the midfield with confusing runs, runs, clever through balls, showing to the ball, and having your outlets and drop options always available. We looked really bad yesterday and actually create very very few real opportunities. The ones that were 'created' were sloppy and it would have been only by luck if we put something in the back of the net. Long balls have their place in the game to exploit an over agressive defense trying to do an offsides trap or on a quick counter. But that is UNT's go to. And it looks sloppy. It looks crappy. And really, it is just too easy to defend. Because they get to have unlimited subs, there is no reason to keep to possession ball for any college team. I blame it all on the style. The girls really never showed to the ball and gave options for each other. oh, also clean crisp passing would have helped too. Watching yesterday made me think they were just beginning the season and still working out team chemistry instead of the last game of the season. But what do I know, I have only played the game since 5, been a coach and a ref. :)
  6. Our fans expectations are so low when we lose by 27 and score nothing in the modern football era and are happy with the results. UNT fans are masochists.
  7. I have followed unt soccer since 2000. This is classic hedlund style. It drives me crazy. And if you look at years past, you will see that that I have said this time and time again... his style will NEVER allow us to win a big time game. He has to change his style. The long ball crap is lazy, lacks creativity and is the easiest to defend. Plus, it allows the opposing team to dominate the midfield. And when you dominate the midfield you dominate the game. And what do you know, we are getting dominated. Long ball might work against lesser opponents, but not ones that are decent.
  8. I think I know what you mean... and I am most concerned about how we play.... But, if we can't beat this team exhibition or not, we all should be worried. Really really worried.
  9. Translation: he is not coming to UNT. The best GIF ever.
  10. I do blame the University hierarchy as well. But for not getting rid of an AD who has consistently under-performed in the area that is most important... A decent college athletics program.
  11. Nope. it doesn't change my opinion. I didn't want him then, and I do not want him now.
  12. There are many who thought that he didn't get a fair shake under McCarney. But, we weren't annointing him the savior of the program. We just think that out of our crappy stable of QB's, he has just enough to be a little less crappy than the others in that he at least offers a running threat. No one offers a real, consistent vertical threat on this team. I think you might be confusing our feelings of him being the less stinky of stink than our feelings of him being a Heisman front runner.
  13. If we had the right leadership, we wouldn't need a lot of time. Others can do it... why not us?! Kudos to the AD who is the architect of a program where the football HC needs a lot of time to turn this ship around. I am glad we have him.
  14. Mac drove this team to the ground...
  15. Interesting
  16. Damn, reading your post was depressing. UNT is not a bad place to coach. We have a lot to offer being here and we are not the UNT of yesteryear.
  17. He knows recruiting challenges with his time at ECU. He would be a wonderful addition to head UNT.
  18. I am okay with Riley! :) He was great for ECU. He would do really well here!
  19. No way do I want Dickey back. And never ever have I or anyone I know said they would love to have Dickey back. Some of you have serious amnesia. I want someone who actually will help us turn a corner. please and thank you.
  20. I agree with you... Regardless, I think our football program will come down to how well we schedule opponents even moreso than the recruits we will get.
  21. Just like our AD.
  22. man, i don't know... I am not completely settled on him.
  23. Never heard that expression before.
