It wouldn't be the worst hire, but I do hope for something different. Right now, he is 1-9 in his last 10 games at LSU and doing horribly in conference. Granted, it is the SEC... but, he should have SEC caliber players. I still can't get over that nasty loss in their final game of the SEC tournament last year. My god.... That is TB level right there.

Hopefully something similar to the 'it factor' of a certain Cowboy QB getting passed over three rounds in last year's NFL draft.

Ah, I see that Benford's Best Team (Part Deaux) just tied his own personal record for longest losing streak of his head coaching career.

I was an undergrad during the bowl run years and talked to several football players. Hell, I was a roommate to one of them.... They all had complaints about DD. One that stuck out to me was how little he actually invested into recruiting. Even throwing out numbers of minutes he actually spent on the phone with players compared to other schools. He was furious because he always felt that the school could really do much better if the coaching staff showed more effort. His words, not mine. And no, not gonna say who. That one class was very impressive and I am still not quite sure how he landed them. But, he never duplicated that and seemed to rest on hope that the bowl wins would produce better recruits itself.

Interesting that you post that picture of that UNT-LaTech game. That was the game where our starters were doing awful. Down by something like 18 points. Takes out every starter, puts in the B team and they get us right back in the game (and takes a lead, I recall). What does DD do to reward the hard work of the B team that actually made this a game? he benches them in favor of the starters only for the game to get out of hand once more. Let's raise our mugs!

If he was a GA at Notre Dame this past year, does that not seem like a demotion or step down from his previous positions? It just seems odd.
