  1. Was what made MC a bad OC because he called bad plays or was it because he was a poor recruiter/talent evaluator? For how much he touted his love for coaching QB’s, he had a terrible time bringing in and making a good one.
  2. Unless there were some misconduct that hasn’t come forward, this would be all Peterson’s doing as no way they would have pushed him out there.
  3. A change needed to be made given such a huge drop in production.
  4. History tells us Likely not. 😕 but I don’t think anyone expected us to have the 2013 year we did and that was quite a season.
  5. Lots of softballs thrown at that interview.
  6. Then he is all talk when he talks about holding coaches and players accountable. If he keeps them he sends a message that this is acceptable. And if so, I don’t think I will care to follow such a program moving forward until changes are made.
  7. We need a new OC, DC, secondaries coach, OL coach. This program is weak and SL better make some changes of this joke.
  8. I also believe with the people we had returning on offense (even with losing Bussey), we shouldn't have had as big a drop off at all. We should have done even better. I don't care to have Reeder as the OC.
  9. Outside of the first year, haven’t we consistently went in reverse in league standings each year? If anything we know we are getting worse on a conference front.
  10. Reeder can go with Ref.
  11. This is what I was thinking. That one year of DM’s five was fun. But it was just the third program I have been a part of that was incredibly frustrating. Using the Rice game - where are D was pretty good- as a reason for why we need to put all our best players on D seems a bit of a weaker argument. It was still just as frustrating to watch when we loaded up our D with the best players. I don’t think this should be our goal at all. We just need to find the best players for the best places.
  12. If he doesn’t let go of his coordinators... he is sending a horrible message to fans and players of what is acceptable standards around here. What he does in the offseason will tell me a lot about if he is all talk or not in regards to holding everyone accountable.
  13. @Brett Vito love for you to inquire about coaching changes after next week. This needs to be discussed!
  14. For the first time ever I am sayin this... I could care less if we have SL as a coach next year. He doesn’t give me much promise. But I would be pissed if we don’t have two new coordinators for next season.
  15. I am ok if SL ended up somewhere else next season. I expect both coordinators to be gone for next season.
  16. Briles never stays anywhere for long at all since Baylor.
  17. Good tactics can diminish talent in soccer. This isn’t like football where shear strength, size, and speed on the front lines will typically dictate the game. Team cohesion and strategy can far outweigh talent. ultimately, every team in the tournament has athletes. They are all good. They can’t get there without being good. There is no way we get utterly dominated like we have every tournament game if we had the style I suggest. as one who was actually close to some of the players when I was in my undergrad, they agreed. The coaches required them to play long ball, whether they really wanted to or not. But long ball is the easiest to coach. It’s also the easiest to coach against. 😕 if there is a talent gap as large as you say... all the more reason long ball won’t work as it requires fast and savvy forwards to out muscle and out-everything the defense. We don’t have that which makes it kinda ridiculous of a strategy. one more thing of note: while watching the game I didn’t really see Arkansas as truly overmatching our team with talent. They weren’t really stronger or faster or even had that greater skill in touch and individual control. They simply had a better strategy, moved better, controlled the game and flow better. That is tactics and strategy. Not talent.
  18. A different approach would give us far more than just one shot on frame. this team lacks any real creativity in these biggest of games. They play nothing more than kickball. It is a trash style play at best. Rewatch and tell me if they were moving the ball with purpose or just trying to clear and get rid of it. There was really no design. No movement. Any coach I know would stop such mess and simply ask, what were you trying to do with that because all I see is you reloading it to the other team. To suggest that no other style wouldn’t have improved things is simply crazy. Soccer isn’t like football in that your lines can simply DOMINATE opponents. Ball movement, creativity, and proper runs and rewarding of those runs can impact any team you play. Any team. They are all tournament caliber teams.... this isn’t exactly a David vs Goliath. But hell, the stats consistently show as if it were. So I don’t buy the we were just overmatched because of talent. We were overmatched because of style and tactics. This style will never work. And yes, history and stats show I am correct.
  19. Do you even know soccer? I am curious.
  20. 1 billion percent yes. Given some rest, and simple film prep and you can shut it down. As Was proven every time we play a tourney game. I wouldn’t look at the conference championship game as some sort of indicator that this style works in tourney games. It simply doesn’t. And both stats and history is on my side on this.
  21. Yes! It did. You are very correct. Just as any tourney team we have played. Even the not so stellar ones like Tech and SMU when the tournament committee gave us a more favorable opportunity. But again, unt’s style is literally the easiest to defend. The result would be the same no matter who we played in the tournament. I have been saying this every freaking year. Please go look at my history on the topic. Hedlund makes me a freaking prophet. It’s time I see if I can part the Red Sea because I am batting 1.000 on this.
  22. The result would be better all around if we played a different style. Our long ball does well against inferior competition or ones we can just out athlete. Possession would do even better. The major cities in Texas are a hotbed for soccer and we aren’t really getting second tier girls. Really, long ball just becomes really dependent on set pieces. Sure Hedlunds winning percentage is good.... but there is so freaking much room for improvement.
  23. We have beat a ranked team a few times in regular season over the years. But when it counts, when teams have time to sit and watch film and have proper prep time, it is shut down. And that’s what we see. If I recall correctly, the year we lost to SMU in the tournament we got beat in the tournament. As a coach, I love seeing teams that play this way because I have a few simple asks of just one or two of my defenders and it is completely shut down mostly. again, all teams are good in the tournament.... so that just is the reality of things. But that doesn’t mean we should have the results we do in it.
  24. We have played many second tier tournament teams with the same result. SMU and tech come to mind. It doesn’t matter about that. When you are in the tournament, all teams are good. So that part is irrelevant to me. hedlunds style is akin to the deep ball in football... every time. It doesn’t work and it is low percentage opportunities. We can help ourselves with better tactics.
