  1. Even though no one has ever won the world cup with a foreign coach, 3 teams with foreign coaches did make the finals. I would settle for a world cup final.
  2. probably for just one reason. we are the only FBS school that would even consider it.
  3. Who thinks Bradley made some bad personnel decisions?! I DO!
  4. Spector has done very well during the confederations cup and through qualifications. He has proven his worth in the past and has done well for us.
  5. This might make you appreciate Coach Bradley even more... http://g.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/world-cup/news/bradley-punish-the-floppers--fbintl_dw-flopping062510.html
  6. I am not sure what you guys see in Gomez for the starting role over Buddle. He has a decent shot but is young and isn't the smartest player. That is why he was pulled from the Algeria game at half (just like Torres in the game before). Buddle does some great stuff off the ball that Gomez seems not able to do (positioning, defending, drawing out the D). Buddle, Torres, Stewart, Bornstein are all great players when we are using them in the role they are made for right now. They are best used as reserves for the better players. Give them some years and they could be special for our team. The only thing that really bothered me out of Buddle in the Algeria game was when he was near-side post with the ball at the end of the game and had no one on him and just gave the ball away right in front of the goal. Outside of that, I feel his play has been more than adequate. I am not sure what to think of Findley, though I trust him more than I do Gomez. All are decent players, but I think the Forwards are the weakest unit we have on the team. So you could make a decent arguement for any one of our forwards (including the ones who didn't make the final roster, i.e. Ching) to take a starting role. The good news is we have a relatively young team and I look forward to what the future holds because of it.
  7. this is the wierdest most inconsistent rankings I have ever seen. A facilities ranking that includes fan support and location as key factors. love it!
  8. Oh you and your silly talk of fanciful wonders.
  9. I would start Findley over Gomez. I would actually start buddle over findley, but thats just me. Gomez is young and "not ready" for a starting role. I really super-duper doubt that Bradley will start Gomez the rest of the time for the world cup. He subbed him out for that simple reason that he isn't ready for such a big role yet. He is great coming off the bench and that is where he should stay. Buddle is a solid player and I expect him to get a lot of playing time. Bradley likes Findley because of his speed but I am not convinced that he should be the guy to compliment Altidore. I say put in Buddle. By the way, Altidore isn't that great, IMO. But, his size and power is excellent against most Defenses. I like your midfield set up with Stewart and Benny as possible subs. As for D, I wish Spector would get in there instead of Bornstein. I like his play. He is great. He makes my soccer pants go crazy.
  10. I miss El Guapo.
  11. Since I work with the current students and deal with them daily. I will be happy to tell you why they don't go to the games. It is because we aren't good and they don't care to watch a bad team. They don't care who our opponent is more than they want to see us destroy them. And we don't. So they don't come out. That is the one constant I hear from students.
  12. 1. No 2. Yes
  13. Nope. Definitely not with USU and UTSA.
  14. Yes they do. i have never heard otherwise.
  15. Bring LA TECH to the SBC. Problem solved!
  16. He did not blow calls both ways. The ref not carding Dempsey wasn't a "blown" call. He still called a foul on him. He just didn't card him. Even if it was a "blown" call. A card there would not have changed the outcome of the game at all. However, what he did to us did change the outcome and now leaves Findley off for the next game. Never mind the foul to Altidore in which he was going to goal and was fouled by the last man on their team which usually results in a red card. All he was given was a yellow. There are other decisions that made us dumbfounded as to how he can lose proper control of this game. There were horrible judgements throughout the game and it is equally laughable to say it went both ways.
  17. God, i hope we don't go to the WAC. It would be a costly mistake. We eitber go to C-USA or better or we improve the belt by pursuing la tech and maybe one more. Whatever we do, we don't go into the wac.
  18. They got "promoted" only because of their geographic location. Not because of anything they actually did.
  19. I like him. Only because he likes us. I don't know anything about his football skills.
  20. I like the idea of bringing La Tech and NMSU along. Now, our conferences are 'bout the same in prestige and money. It benefits La Tech for travel expenditures and regional interest if they join.
  21. I often forget how spread out CUSA is until you see that map.
  22. UNT was a finalist last time with less money, weaker facilities, and a limping program (outside of football). Now our program is much better with a solid basketball team, soccer, tennis, softball, etc. Football is limping but will improve. Besides, they took some crappy football teams lasts time (smu and Rice)so I can't see how we wouldn't be on some sort of short list.
  23. Great article. He expresses my sentiments and expectations quite well.
