  1. I don't know if your reply was saying that it isn't a business or not. I am assuming you are saying it is not. If so, you are wrong. It is still a business. They run it with a business model. They have to raise their own money for scholarships, facilities, services, they even have to take out loans from the school if they need more money (athletic center), etc. They have a service model to grow their clientele. The only difference in this is that we have a dedicated student fee that gives them more money. Regardless, it is still a business that is seeking money to support itself in revenue through contracts, donors, sponsors, and services. Unless I misunderstand you... Your argument is wrong on several points too. First, you assume that all FBS plays each other. Which they don't as we play lower level, therefore it is not necessarily an even split of wins/losses. I am confused by your first paragraph. Do you mean anything MORE than a one loss season is a fireable offense? Regardless, a one loss, two loss, or three loss even in the business sense is not a fire-able offense. Just look at the NFL. Third, it is widely known that practically all (even the big teams, some of which you mentioned, are often in the red). It doesn't mean they aren't a business. The organization sees it as a necessary loss for the good of the school. Just because we aren't getting all the wins and losses... doesn't mean the overall product isn't there. Our program has a steady rise in average attendance due to several factors like RV changing the game day experience, a steady growth in our student population (we have went up 13000 students over the passed decade), i also think a spread offense is just more fun to watch to the general public then the smashmouth-run first offense Dickey pulled out. I think there are many things that you need to take in account for our fan base. Then consider what it could be like if we actually had a decent program to compliment it.
  2. The kind and gentles will remain so that weekend.
  3. Just so you know, the athletic program at unt IS a business.
  4. I get tired of hearing stuff like this. How did Ohio end up with Solich or UTEP with Price. We can get a big name coach to come here. it isn't out of the question.
  5. It was RV quoted in the DRC about a week or two after the end of last season.
  6. I think you are just wasting time. Now, we have to be MTSU, Troy, or Kansas State. We will not come within 24 points of either of them. Pull the plug now. Let's bring a head coach who knows what he is doing and has a crap ton of time to recruit.
  7. RV has only made two real glaring mistakes. Hiring TD and retaining him again the last year. Under his guidance our football team is awful!!! But, he has done many wonderful things. and, I am sure he will bring in a big name coach to come in and right this thing. RV has done wonders for facilities, basketball program, tennis, volleyball, etc. No way do we call for his head on this. Now, if he doesn't do anything about TD then I would be the first in line to want him to step down.
  8. I didn't find Will to Win any more rude than Rudy on these post. We are all just a bit frustrated with things because we care so much to see us succeed. On another note... This ship has sunk long ago. RV showed too much grace in bringing him back this year, which he really shouldn't have done. But, now we just need to make this season about sending off the seniors and raising up the younger guys. I honestly think we should play rec style since this season is gone and let most everybody get experience. The wheels are off and no one is jumping on this bandwagon... So, let everybody play and get experience.
  9. It would be unprofessional for him to do so.
  10. meangreenman- i have noticed this happens literally every year. Then they get all pissy when they really should have seen this coming. They get all this hope only because Dodge says the exact same thing year in and year out with coach speak about "this team really wants it" "they really care more than in the past" "this is our year". It is old. If anyone actually believes it it is their own damn fault.
  11. no, he has had enough chances. I wouldnt mind if he was gone this week.
  12. You know, if there were a team that I had to compete on the field or for recruits and they were coached by a coach with the worst record in their history, i would try to convince them they need to retain that coach too.
  13. North Texas 20 Army 24
  14. That was my thought too.
  15. Based on record i would have to say it is dodge.
  16. isokenetics, anyone?
  17. Yeah, the mood is pretty bad. Many I overheard were making jokes about the football team. The vibe is that the atmosphere was fun. But, our team is a joke. It is understandable that happens with the product we have had over the years. It isn't the greatest.
  18. In all seriousness, thanks for hanging in there all these years and giving it your all. It does suck that this is how it ends for you.
  19. Nathan, Thanks so much for what you have put into the program. You are a class act. I am a little hurt, upset, and disappointed right now. Hurt that your season ended so abruptly. Upset that you became just as injury prone as R.Dodge. And disappointed about what could have been for the rest of the season. I am sad to see it has come to an end like this. May you rest in peace.
  20. I hope there is not a single bit of seriousness to your post. I want a guy who can win... but do it the right way... and with character. I don't need some sorry dude to come in here and be that kind of example. Winning isn't everything. You have to win the right way!
  21. There are several proven head coaches out there I want to bring in. Kragthorpe, Leach, Bower, to a lesser extent Bowden. That short list would make my UNT football pants go crazy.
  22. history shows that coaches with his kind of record that are brought back for a fourth year never win either. They either win by now or they don't. We know what we have.
  23. If true then does this not make you angry?!?! in our best effort we still lose. I argue that it isn't our best but if it was that doesn't help. It only adds more fuel to the fire. Like last year, when dodge and co. kept saying how "this year is different" "our boys really care this time" and in their best year they yielded 2 wins. These things just fall on deaf ears.
  24. I think we all know the answer to this. I like Dodge a lot and I liked the hire. But, it hasn't turned out well. Dodge, with a bit of help from Dickey, has turned this program into the worst program in the nation over the span of the past 5 years. We are asking him to at least win 2 more than the last three years COMBINED! We need to bring a proven head coach, like Leach or someone of similar caliber, to come in here and do this right. I seriously doubt that we will be able to pull off winning seven of the next ten. Its just not going to happen. Thanks for what you tried to do here Dodge, but we need to see if someone else can clean this mess up.
  25. Leach would be an interesting hire.
