What A Jerk.
Travis replied to SilverEagle's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
While I understand what you are trying to say, this is actually a fallacy argument. I also see how this is difficult to enforce. However, we can and do legislate stupid and dangerous behavior. Simply because people get hurt. And since we love the preservation of life so much, laws like this make sense. I am all for being the author of my own life and trying to halt government's imposition in many ways. But, I am not quite sure if this is one of those things. The seat belt law is one that I see a better argument for your philosophy than the texting one. -
Gold Cup 2011

I just saw a recap of the game last night, wow that was frustrating. As for my Bocanegra comment.... For the record, Bocanegra is actually my favorite player on the team. I really like what he has done, but I do think he needs to take some ownership to the D that has just been awful. He is the captain and the one who should be leading this defense much better than it actually has been. Instead, the D depends on Howard to get their ass in gear and most of the time it seems like they aren't even listening to him. I still think of the last goal by Ghana and how he was right there alongside him and just seemed completely gassed and unable to defend. Sad day. -

Spector has disappointed me because I was really high on him and the direction he was going. Bornstein seemed to have promise but never put it together. Actually, when I think about it... almost all of our D seems to have stalled except cherundelo (spelling). Bocanegra, Gooch, Spector, etc. -
Gold Cup 2011

I am not sure how anyone can argue that we are not a bad team. We are quite off... and have been for many years now. Yes, even during the confederations cup I saw very poor defense that has continued up till now. Also, I am not sure you how someone can say that we are a few years away from being mature. Most every "hopeful" we have had ended up being not much of anything. If history indicates anything.... We don't have a true scorer like we had in McBride and we need that in a bad way. Hell, Joe Max Moore would seriously help this team if that was any indication of our current status. Our defense has nothing promising for the future and that is our biggest weakness. We will not be "good" till this is fixed and it doesn't appear to be anytime soon. Sure, we will get a big win here and there as any team our size can get, but the consistency factor wont be there for awhile it seems. We have a decent midfield but that is really the extent of it. If we are relying on players like Sacha as a key backup we are really screwed. For some reason, Sacha makes Bradley's soccer pants go crazy. I don't get it. Here is to hoping I am super duper wrong. -

USA really isn't that good of a team. I hate to say it but the truth is we don't play well together. We have a very lousy defense and have had such for the past 3 years. I am hoping to see better chemistry and smarter play, but we don't seem to have a lot of promise in our future prospects. -
It is true that we do not have the strongest fan base. But, New Mexico is the team of New Mexico while we are not even close to the top in our state. The fact that we draw evenly with them considering how bad we are/have been isn't too bad. Kinda apples to oranges, especially considering the difference in conference prestige too.

Yeah, i want to get rid of the north texas on our helmets too. let's use the logo we payed a freakin' ton for.

They have been out recruiting us the whole time and we seem to have done well in recent years.

No Belt / Big Sky Schools In Wac Expansion
Travis replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
This is amusing for several reasons. One, UL-M declining an informal offer to join La. Tech and the WAC. Two, how funny it would be to see fans of la tech if ul-m joined them in the wac. -
Brutal Soccer Foul
Travis replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I am considering the result. I am considering all of it. I am saying that I wouldn't mind him being suspended for an entire season. He likely could have just ended somebody's entire career. It is very hard to be the same player after that. I don't mind a season long punishment. -
Brutal Soccer Foul
Travis replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
It wasn't that he just broke his leg. It was that it was such a wreckless act that deserves serious punishment to protect the players and send a proper message that unleashing your frustrations like this is never acceptable. -
My dad told me, "Travis, you can go anywhere in the state that you want to go to. But, you are paying for it." I came to UNT because I had a scholarship here. So I took it and then loved all of it. I plan to do the same with my child. She will go where she wants to and it will be her's to make. **My dad did help in many ways: paying for my car insurance, gas, and a lot of food. I can see myself doing something like this for my child.

Sunbelt Might Add 11Th School For Football

Apple or Pumkin? Pumpkin.. I can't spell.

I would rather us continue to brag about how we are the leading campus of a 25 mile radius around our campus.

If I remember right... Chris Davis tried to keep him and the other one who went to texas to stick around. I was happy to see that Chris stayed..

Rhadigan
Travis replied to Maduro's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I liked lewin. I didn't want him to go. Listening to Rhadigan is just awful. And comparing him to Lewin makes me want lewin back even more. -
That would surprise me.

I don't necessarily mind them exploring this. I would like to see all the options and alternatives before I rush to a decision. I would call the current system bad if there was a better one proposed.

If I recall.... NCAA has many times in the past released and allowed players to not only transfer schools but to play immediately without sitting out a year.

seriously, this is a dull game... which is why I will entertain you with more quotes from one of my favorites... Look... me and the McDonald's people got this little misunderstanding. See, they're McDonald's... I'm McDowell's. They got the Golden Arches, mine is the Golden Arcs. They got the Big Mac, I got the Big Mick. We both got two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, but their buns have sesame seeds. My buns have no seeds.
