Andy Avalos (one of their own) got fired today following a 41-14 win from last night. They are 5-5 on the year and he holds a 22-14 record going into his third year. Last year he went 10-4. Worst full year was first where he went 7-5. This is something UNT would NEVER do. We would extend a lifetime tenured contract with those results. But I love that BSU has that little thing called standards. Now this… I very much agree with. SL was incredibly frustrating and I was more than ready to see him go after how many programs passed us by and we were just stagnant under him… he needed to be let go. And A year or two too late if you ask me. EM and his staffing selection and poor recruiting and team building (yes more is on you immediately with the portal) has truly made us worse. id love for us to start completely over but we don’t have the money for that. At best, we gotta find a new DC to show some face to the players and fans. He won’t do it though. And we are going to be stuck backsliding to further mediocrity under this arrangement.

EM biggest recruiting efforts needs to be to retain the better players he already has. He didn’t do well at all retaining the better players of SL’s team when he came in. Its going to be a challenge given the shit sandwich he made of it. the D might like Caponi -I don’t really know - but if I were a player outside looking in, I don’t think I’d wanna play for the guy. my prediction is we are going to lose a lot more players than just to graduation.

What was insanity was basically hiring the exact same coach as SL in CM and expecting it to somehow be better.

Yes that Mac. And he led one good team. Not teams. He was a coach that couldn’t recruit worth a flip. Actually did that bowl win with Dodge guys. And who gave us the biggest train wreck of a team for a single season I have ever seen. Even over the Dodge years…. Yes. That was a terrible hire. he left us in worst shape than any coach has in the modern era. I have never seen a coach wreck a program like he did. Which is why SL was a good hire to bring the program out of that mess.

Mac was a terrible hire. Dodge was a terrible hire. SL wasn’t a terrible hire. morris to date is a terrible hire. I hope that changes. I don’t think I care to get into pissing contest of which one is more terrible

EM not being the correct pick doesn’t mean that SL firing was the wrong decision. Those are mutually exclusive. We had this same question when we fired Dickey and hired dodge. It is irrelevant. Firing SL had to happen. Hiring Morris didn’t have to happen.
