Scott Hall hands down! He was a fairly accurate passer, could scramble like no one else (meaning among other QBs at NT), had a good head on his shoulders, and led the team in other ways than just throwing up numbers. I miss not having him on the team. *Sigh*

I disagree with untStein. Voertman's has a much larger selection, especially if you want something with green in it. (The UNT bookstore has more clothing with pink or brown) Go with Voertman's!

A NT student body observation
GreenBrigadeDebbie replied to Newspaperman's topic in Mean Green Football
Good news. It kinda fits in to a student body observation of mine. The dividing line between the fine arts students and athletics may be starting to erode. Many of my close friends are no longer part of the Green Brigade (they were in the GB in '02, '03, and '04). Now that they are done with their 3 semester GB requirement, I thought that they would never set foot inside Fouts again. WRONG!!!! I have 3 of them wanting to come out to the game next weekend. And not just a casual, "Hey I might go to the game next weekend" type of thing. It is a full on, "I WANT to go to the game really bad!!" I can't be more happy about this. Right now it is only 3 former GBers that I know of, but 3 is more than 0 and I will take it. They credit me for getting them interested in NT athletics. But I know deep down that they cared all along.....They just didn't want to admit it to themselves. -
BlueRaiderPride, the better team NEVER loses. On paper entering the game, it seemed like you had the advantage. But in football, the games are decided on the field. We were the better team last night and handed you a loss. I have been cordial towards you (like every other opponent NT faces) but your comments made me start to feel a little different. You guys always smack talk and then never live up to it and then come up with lame a$$ remarks that the Mean Green is always not so "Mean" or that we were handed the game, yada yada yada. Face it, you guys have NEVER beaten us. You can call us a pathetic team (even though we are the only ones to have ever represent the conference in the bowl game) but how ridiculous is it to be 0-5 against a team what you guys call pathetic????? I love your enthusiasm about the Raiders, but you look like a child when you come on the opponents' fan board (after a loss mind you) and bitch and gripe to us about the game. It's over...We won (we were the better team) and you lost. Start prepping for your next game and stop living in the past.

I had to sit through Finance 3770 class at 9:30 before UNT made the announcement to cancel class. Nothing really mattered that day. I was completely numb and shell shocked. I watched the news all day and still couldn't believe what happened. My heart goes out to those who lost family and friends and to those who survived. I hope and pray that we never see another day like that again....

It was a hard fought game Blue Raiders. You certainly gave us a run for our money. Keep your chins up....It is just one loss in the Sun Belt race. Don't let it defeat you. Learn from what happened and try to fix it. But you should be proud of your team whether they are 0-12 or 12-0. So next week when y'all host Akron, show back up to Floyd Stadium and cheer for your team again. Good luck on the rest of your season. I hope things turn around for you in the 'Boro!! GO MEAN GREEN AND SUN BELT!!!

I too am looking forward to hearing and seeing the Green Brigade (almost returned for a 6th season...damn Wednesday afternoon class conflicting with rehearsal time... ). But it should be good. And I too will be disappointed if less than 20K show up.

I don't think MTSU handed us the game. Just because they turned over the ball 5 times, that doesn't mean they handed us the game. We had to capitalize on that in order to win. And we did. We did what we had to do to pull out a win in TN. We are still a young team with a lot to learn but seeing how we won with so many young ones, this will definitely be a confidence booster that I hope spills into next week. Plus these guys played on the road for their first collegiate start (for some) in a hostile environment. If they can pull out the win there in the Boro, then having the home crowd next week should help. Things are looking good for us. I can't wait to see them in action next week. Congratulations Mean Green. You perservered and triumphed. Now let's just build on our successes today, have an efficient week of practice, and pull out another victory next week against Tulsa! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!

Who's high school team won last night?
GreenBrigadeDebbie replied to stebo's topic in Mean Green Football
My high school, Plano East, got their tails handed to them by Garland. -
I still select Scott Hall because my other top choices were already taken...

Scott Hall's head plus Booger's build plus Jamario's speed plus Nick Bazuldua's legs. A player that can play offense, defense and special teams!! (Emmitt you only said to combine 3 players but cut me some slack... )

I look forward to our showdown with the Tigers!!! Good luck Tigers!

Who is your "ALL-Dickey" team?
GreenBrigadeDebbie replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree with what was listed, but really wish we could have 4 linebackers as I think that Hurd should be included. The only thing I disagree with is that I would put Muenchow in at TE rather than Blount though Blount would be a close second. Muenchow was the quiet guy that was so freaking dependable and did so well. Other wise it was really the best roster for post 1998 players. -
The Smith Family continue to be in my prayers one year later. You'll never be forgotten Andrew!! I think the Green Brigade's band "Alma Mater" says it all... You'll Never Walk Alone!

What if you could bring back...
GreenBrigadeDebbie replied to BIG DAWG's topic in Mean Green Football
Tough call. I guess I would bring back Booger though. We need his help on the D-Line! But I would also wanna bring back Scott Hall, Andrew Smith, and our fabulous linebacking crew of '03: Cody Spencer, Taylor Casey, and Chris Hurd. -

Ten Toughest Stadiums for Visiting Teams...

I will have to say that OU is the hardest to play at. I was there and boy are those fans loud when the opponents are on offense. -

This isn't unusual. A catamount is a mountain lion. That isn't really that unusual. -

At This Stage of the Game & All Things Considered
GreenBrigadeDebbie replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
You can only get better by playing good teams on a regular basis. Sure we have a tough out of conference schedule. But then we hit our Sun Belt schedule and we are back to playing "fluff" teams. No offense to our Sun Belt brethern but seeing how so many of the Sun Belt teams are consistenly ranked at the bottom of Div. I-A schools, we can't get better. I am not trying to flame them but they are ranked at (or towards) the bottom for a reason. So we need to go to C-USA and kinda tank for a few years. But once we can adjust and start recruiting classes as a C-USA school we will start winning and making bowl apperances from C-USA. From there we can get a bump up to the MWC or a BCS conference.
