  1. has anyone seen my red stapler? i told them if they moved me again, i'd burn the building down! *fixes glasses*
  2. I agree with the middle of nowhere, but only geographically. It has nothing to do with UTEP's success. I've lived in DFW and am currently in El Paso...there's plenty of interests around here. The difference has to do with sports. UTEP has no NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB franchise to compete with. About the only thing the [uTEP] administration has ever had to 'compete' with are the local high school games (not necessarily football) and the Diablos...our minor league affiliate of the Diamondbacks. -gm
  3. #disclaimer: this is NOT a suggestion that we switch to Tech's scheme; I'm just noting how boggling this has got to be# In Tech's win over K-St yesterday, Hodges threw for SIX HUNDRED AND FOURTY THREE yards. To put that in perspective, he had more yards through the air than we have TOTALLED on offense in our last THREE games combined. Stick in the Tulsa stat, and we've still only totalled 745. again: boggles the mind link -gm
  4. interesting...bump I'll take "Foods that end in 'amburger'", Alex.
  5. I could read nearly every other thread the past 2 months and it would be the same rant, same words, different order. Your concerns are not unique. I hope the O gets on track, regardless of who is under center and who they hand off to. -gm
  6. One win does not make this ship "righted". We still have major issues to address, and other teams will be happy to expose them and put us back into our hole.
  7. If I were a CUSA official, I wouldn't be holding last nights UTEP/Tulane attendance, or lack thereof, against La Tech.
  8. huh? Where the heck did you hear that? The albino squirrels (yes, plural) live discretely behind the Willis Library. I've seen 2 at the same time (outside the Music Annex), and a third later that same day. Although I never saw more than one in the same day again, every time I saw the one that spends most of its time outside the Annex, it looked like it was in no hurry to die of bad health. *has flashbacks of squirrel skittering up and down the tree and nibbling on food* ...gotta agree with forevereagle on this one: I was always pretty apathetic about them, and never understood their hype. Anyone who thinks that this "phenomenom" is unique to our campus needs to do a google search. However, if you prefer to hunt them out in hopes of finals luck, have at it. I'll stick to my guns, go back to my practice room and rest comfortably knowing that the piano faculty didn't approve of my juries because of animal sightings. -gm
  9. I guess that makes FIU "Florida Internal Airport".
  10. If we DON'T play the way we've been playing, Eagles have no problem beating Tech.
  11. I can see it now: Kassel tackles Darrel for a loss after Dickey mishandles a handoff 4 yards behind the line on 4th and inches! Their QB was NOT given a chance to audible at the line. DOH! ..nuts, -gm
  12. The #2 team in the country wasn't exactly in his face when he threw balls 5 yards shy of the feet of his RB. Your point is taken, but Bomar DID help me see that other programs are having to deal with similar O problems as our's. Having said that, I wouldn't mind having their D.
  13. Sorry, our d is fine. FSU's defense would tire with the ineptness we have at O. Bottom line: a better O would make everything better. Winning the field position battle with a strong defensive start doesn't mean diddly squat if your O keeps going 3-and-out.
  14. ...pretty typical of any job I ever had in retail: they make it clear to you that THEY pay you plenty, and you cannot accept tips. In my experience, and i'm not saying this applies to everyone, the bosses' felt that accepting tips meant that you were motivated to do better/worse based on what the customer might give you, rather than SUPERIOR service which should always be a given. You can agree/disagree -- that's fine, it may be different for you -- I'm just telling it as it was for me. -gm
  15. This is the only board I ever see attendance prediction threads on for every home game.
  16. Man I was hoping I wouldn't be reading something like this. I'm all for Dickey if/when he figures out a change; however, knowing that some of the players and their families read this board makes me wonder what it's doing to them if they think that their fans are jumping ship for a coach/hero of UNT past. The irony of this is i'm prolonging this thread for more hits by posting this reply -gm
  17. some good perspectives, Harry. thanks UTEP lost to Memphis today due to a couple late interceptions thrown by Palmer. Didn't help that the Miners turned th ball over 4 times inside Memphis's 25. I really don't know what to make of UTEP at this point after tonight's loss. Memphis lost to Tulsa, Tulsa lost to Houston, and Houston lost to UTEP! What a merry-go-round this game can be! All games involving us (UNT) and the teams mentioned above have been decided by CRITICAL qb play. I hope UNT can find that "click" in Meager or Phillips. Perhaps Dickey and Co can learn something from tonight's Memphis win: they did it with their 3rd and 4th string qbs at the helm. To Memphis' advantage: they have MUCH better play in the trenches than we can claim as of this point. -gm
  18. I knew a few TAMS alumni: they were/are mental cases. "serious to the next level" does not apply to them, as they are in their 6+ year of undergrad, too lazy to go to class, and don't know how to handle their money worth a darn. They were just people that ALWAYS seem to have a problem: sleep, family, money, relationships, etc...everything was wrong. That's just my experience with them (TAMS). Can Cool Beans be considered a class experience? I got kicked outta that one on my 23rd How about a Music History TA that was one year removed from Taiwan, and was learning 'Engrish' as we went along. I swear half the people that failed that class wouldn't have if there was an English prof. Nice girl though I can't think of any college disasters right now; just countless hours of nodding off from sleep deprivation. I'm sure there are some in the back of my mind, and I'll post it later if this thread hasn't died.
  19. "Eagle 96" kinda creepy: I believe that's the Dickey audible for a draw on 3rd and 96. Got my degree in General Music w/all the credit hours of a Music Ed major, without the certification. Currently a student at UT-El Paso pursuing MM in Piano Performance.
  20. I was at that game. Jamel took a screen something like 31 yards on the first play (I'm pretty sure it wasn't 60, but it sure seemed like a miracle). We got that first field goal and I turned up to the sea of OU above us (Green Brigade) and screamed "WE HAVE A LEAD! WE HAD A LEAD ON OU!!!!" You know what also blew me away in that game? Hall was playing roadrunner to OU's coyote all night and made some amazingly evasive moves when the pocket broke down on several occasions. He blew me away. I knew we had something special in him. Moving right along, I'm going to suport Meager AND Phillips in this learning process; I hope this offense, especially the O-line, rights their ship and give us something to look forward to. -gm
  21. I don't remember the exact numbers for Price. I could be wrong, but I want to say he gets a dollar for every ticket sold and something like another 10 bucks for each season ticket. I also saw him doing a commercial for a local car dealership (a Hummer was in it)... I imagine there's TONS of perks for this guy. The city practically worships him. We might sell out the rest of the way. That's 52K+ people/game.
  22. No worries, Nation: we have 5 mini-Ditkas--driving buses for that matter--just waiting for Dickey to put them on the field to take over. Them Tigers don't stand a lick against us. THATMAKESABAKERSDOZEN -gm back to my asylum kthanksbuhbye
  23. So tell me, Mr. Bill Lumbergh, exactly how much time dooo you spend on those TPS reports? *cough* well... *cough* Did you get the memo?
  24. I wasn't a UNT fan back then, so I can't speak for what it was like. But I thought my own (and probably many others on this board) CURRENT schema my demonstrate my argument against that absurd statement (is it absurd? maybe I'm wrong) If you asked me or any of my crazy football nut friends that we are to name ANY 1-AA playoff team from ANY recent year, I'd give you a blank stare. Maybe those years were special to you, but they were probably a blip to everyone else. And FWIW, the "fake" conference runs and "fake" bowls are what made me a REAL Mean Green fan. Quite frankly, I take that as a shot in the face against the green that runs in my blood. -gm
