  1. it's been brought up a couple times. Specifically, I remember a link given to his profile on the NY site. -gm
  2. I can't help but wonder how the defense will fair against the running backs of other teams as they get used to practicing against the likes of Thomas and Cobbs everyday. -gm
  3. I never even thought of that until you said that. I took it more in line with "is he going to enter the NFL early". -gm
  4. HUH? Last time I checked, the Sun Belt is the reason we've been to the NO Bowl 4 straight years. Do you genuinely believe that being anywhere else [in any other conference) we'd be in the position we're in with the athletic buildings/stadium? You can throw all the TV exposure/contracts/# crunching at me about other conferences and what they have to offer, but, face it, we weren't ready for anything else 4 years ago and our current dominance (in the Belt) is the only reason we are afforded the opportunities given to us now....that and RV. It absolutely boggles my mind; not how people wish we were somewhere else, but how some people competely underappreciate what the Belt has done for us up until now. Am I the only one grateful for it? -gm PS: I for one, however, could do without the recent favors that the conference has granted the MUTS in their favor regarding our series with them. 2 years in a row at their place, and now this second-week-of-the-season crap?
  5. I'd give the Bowling Green QB a shot: Omar Jacobs.
  6. Don't laugh: one day that will replace the "Eagles" as our official mascot. -stv
  7. How bout mini-Ditkas...driving a bus? Concerning Basher being the best D coach ever...anyone want to argue for De Loach? I can't say I'm in a position to do that since I know nothing of Basher's coaching days. All I CAN say is that miss DeLoach A LOT. -gm
  8. In the red backpack? Who's carrying you? sorry had to do that -gm
  9. I noticed that...did we actually have a player with that name or is that a little snl humor inserted in there? TO BILL BRASKEY -gm
  10. I have to also add props to Ark. St for being #8 in the Special Teams list. Go Belt! -gm
  11. Not much to complain about from cfn RB rankings: clicky
  12. "more raw speed" What does that mean?
  13. Man, I'd love to be able to put that in my resume, but all i know is basic html coding and flash. php/css/etc...the stuff where it gets interesting is something beyond me for a little while. Hopefully I can say differently before next summer.
  14. is gmg.com ever going to have a front page again? -gm
  15. Good to have you as a UNT fan. Don't take my perception as a knock on UNT though: I think any athletic director in the country, including ones in Austin, Ann Arbor, Tallahassee, etc would DREAM to have a 1/3 ratio that gives 1000 dollars.
  16. Because they need all the help they can get to defend our passing game. Heck! run a 3 - 1 - 7 defense, thats more than UNT can handle in the trenches! who could UNT, for all the non-BCS SBC dwellers they are, have in THEIR backfield?! Heaven forbid our wealth at QB rips them apart with our prolific west-coast offense. 2004 vs. MTSU: JT 36-179-2 2003 vs MTSU: Cobbs 32-133-1 ***OHWAITAMINUTEOOPSIFORGOTABOUTTHESEGUYS~~~ 2004: Quinn 6-153-1 2003: Nwigwe 3-158-2 ALL FOUR OF THEM ARE BACK. I think it was a Dan Marino interview I read once. When asked what it takes to make a pro bowl qb, he responded to the effect of "an all star cast around you". I can't wait, I'm so excited. -gm
  17. That's gotta be rough. The timing and the shot to the ego of the Cajuns. Can you blame him though? Sounds like less work (only football) with help (two assistants). -gm
  18. HUH? How many friends did you have at UNT? I can think of 40 people I knew at UNT that wouldn't give a flip about donating that much money...not even in disbursements. And, no, I don't think that's a sad ratio. There's no way around it: you need that one BIG donor to step forward. You could probably chip off a few bucks by getting a good ratio to throw in a few dollars each, but not a THOUSAND. Think back to your UNT days: when you were walking down the hall would you envision that every third person would give 1000 dollars 5+ years post-graduation?
  19. Finally! A non-UNT'n that agrees (with us) that we can still take care of business against MTSU...even that early in the season. Addtionally, I think he's overestimating K St. I also noticed his Ark St. prediction...we'll see about that one. -gm
  20. I noticed at the bottom of the page that some of the people in the user list are in italics....what does that mean? My first guess is it is related to the # of posts that user has submitted? -gm
  21. HUH? I think others, along with myself, have seen MANY more exciting plays than watching a lineman rumble to the endzone with his fumble recovery. Give the guy credit, he's was/is a fantastic player (first SBC player to be drafted in first round), but here are a few plays I'm thinking of off the top of my head: -Quin's miracle catch against, I think, Ark St that made ESPN -Several J. Thomas runs last year that involved dancing circles around defenders, 40+ yards, and NOT a straight line from point A to B -First UNT play from scrimmage, OU '01...i think it was J Branch that caught a 31 yard screen from Hall -the last two UNT/MTSU games had some GREAT catches, including K. Wright's...man I'm glad he's gone. -How bout B.K.'s rumble towards the endzone against NMSU I think? Anyone want to add more?
  22. While I hope the SBC gets another bow-tie in, I hope it's not a result of creating a new bowl; rather, I'd like to see WW grab a slot vacated by way of another bowl's contract. just my opinion. -gm
  23. Aren't the "numbers that matter", according to what you just said, what the Sagarin Ratings use? If not, maybe someone call tell us what it DOES use? Sagarin seems to be fairly credible, and they have us (SBC) ahead of the MAC.
  24. Good grief, I've never seen a qb situation dissected to the point that we have taken this. I'm sitting back in my easy chair knowing a) we have a coach who has taken this team through other tough times we have TWO national rushing champions in our backfield c) Lineberry is back to give us a good o-line (a nice compliment for d) The secondary (according to witnesses on this board) looked MUCH improved in spring, and d) as Dan Hawkins says "Tradition never dies"
