Are you calling him out on an opinion? I thought he offered a great perspective, and he made it clear that it wasn't he THOUGHT would happen. Just a worst case scenario. No harm in that, right?

Just to add to that: UTEP doesn't have one. The heat here is different, though. Still hot, but different. My own perception: the humidity in Dallas wears you down and makes the day feel 'heavy'. In contrast, the heat in El Paso really burns through your skin. It feels as if the sun is making a personal point to fry any one standing in its direct line of sight. -
If true that he signed, a great addition to the team. He's used to winning, and I'm sure (or, in the least, HOPE) will not tolerate anything less. Anyone else notice that his Rival's profile doesn't list NT as one of his possible choices?

UNT has pain in the ass parking? Please explain. Most gameday experiences I've been to (outside Denton) would give their right arm to have our parking "problems". -
I don't remember cleanliness ever being the big issue. Part of it, sure, but that's not why people create savefrystreet.com or preservedenton on MySpace. They can pick whatever decade they want to model it after, a Starbucks is still a Starbucks no matter what neighborhood it respects...and it certainly isn't the Tomato. I've heard it's relocating somewhere near the Best Buy. I miss Mr. Chopsticks, too. I'll be quick to find out where they moved to.

Sporting News Rankings - Non- B C S Coaches

BSU was winning before Hawkins. They're probably continue to win after Hawkins, Peterson, etc. I think it was Hawkins that said "Tradition never graduates." I'd like to know more about non-qualifiers. There seem to be several schools out there with a roster loaded with them (Fresno/Boise come to mind), but I don't know all of them. Come to think of it, the only time I ever find out is when those schools finally get the big win. Probably because there are tons of non-BCSers out there happy to jump on the train and enjoy the moment of the "David beating Goliath", and thus tons that are happy to squash the party and throw out these academic/non-qualifier bits. -
The Transformation Of Denton Into A More....

*shivers* small hands. smell like cabbage. -
Actually, he doesn't seem to take as many jabs as usual. Having said that, he's pretty cruel (and, IMO, flat out wrong) about Jamario. Jamario has been a different back the past two years. Gained weight, injuries. Did this guy even remember what J-Mo looked like his freshman year?: /edit to top it off, his "throw on every down" perception of Dodge's offense is way off, and leads me to question what this guy really knows.

Sorry, I don't feel for the mall like I do for Fry Street. No one is shooting you in the head. If you aren't offering tenants reason to stay, you're being out classed and need to step up. This is the name of the game. -
Seeing FIU's at night reminded me of the Rutgers-Louisville game last year on TV.

I'm not sure why you're spinning it that way. I don't follow the 'boys, but I'd be interested to see if it's really 90% or even close. Running it on 3rd and long means one of two things to me: you're within field goal range and want to play the ball safe and into the middle of the field or, two, as a coach you've given up on your offense (see re: what two plays got you into 3rd and long) and have no balls left to try and air it out. So what if it's a good D you're going against? It's 3rd down, which means you still have one more free go ahead before you are traditionally going to punt it away. Except for some rare cases (last play of first half, for one), running it on 3rd down might as well be conceding the opponent has won the possession. Even when Dickey converted a few of these and everyone was praising the success, I was still biting my lip about the play call. flame away.

never got an explanation. he probably just goofed. no one was going to complain.

UTEP has a WR/QB named Lorne Sam. Played QB in high school, recruited to Fl State to play WR. His most consistent contributions are at WR, but he's a factor in the QB rotation...big time. Check out the first play in this highlight vid from last year's UTEP/Tech game. A double reverse to Sam (he starts the play at the top of the screen), he then tosses an easy TD. Warning DD-lovers, sensory overload: Hb5aK9Novsg

Fox sports bought CFN. It's the exact same thing.

I vaguely recall someone quoting S. Hall several seasons ago. Something to the effect that he was specifically instructed to NOT make any checks at the line. Correct me if I'm wrong... I think the last thing you can accuse DD's offense of is having too many reads and checks. Maybe some fundamental zone blocking reads by the rb's, or a play-action related read. That's all that comes to mind. And to spare someone the joke... ...no, you can't have too many reads or checks on the 3rd-and-long draw.

Cloud Rotation Near 288 Football Stadium

Ah okay, Fouts. Now I see why this is in the football forum. -
Just an FYI, Trevor Vittatoe is making a strong case for starting at UTEP this year. Redshirt frosh, I believe. He has a great arm, impressive mobility, and seems to be going through the reads correctly.

Say, Julie, would you like a fish sandwich?

They have that DD quip, which I'm sure was a brain fart. The rest of the article is written in the context of Dodge's leadership. The links have been working correctly from the front CFN page on the right column. They link to MTSU if you click them from within the main article. offense preview defense preview They still need to fix their link to the '07 depth chart.
