  1. I don't recall you ever seeming this nasty. For what it's worth, this team is athletic enough to overcome poor x-and-o execution. Memphis is an awful lot in that category. Let it all out, then put the Green Goggles back on and take a win however they come! I thought that was a sort of cheap shot on the league. It's not a great league, but it's our's; we won 20 games in this league dealing with the cards that are dealt and it's gotten us on the verge of a Big Dance invite, some serious NCAA money, and some attention from fans that would otherwise not visit this board. We had 62 users visiting this thread. Is that a record? W/e the case, it's good attention.
  2. ESPN already has a recap up here
  3. WKU net radio: http://www.wkusports.com/mp3-2.m3u
  4. Tired of the close calls :/ Just once, please, I would like this team to be hot on the 3 and just completely obliterate an opponent like they can. I'm going to look for a radio feed for the other semi final.
  5. ...and into next season.
  6. I stand corrected! My dead brain saw the assistant position he held in 1998 mentioned in the bio and just assumed. I thought Cal had been there for a while.
  7. I didn't know of JJ's Memphis connection until you mentioned this and I read up on the NT athletics site his bio. Good to see Coach Cal's coaching tree "grow" per se. It's especially evident as a UNT alumn AND UTEP Miner fan (a la Tony Barbee). It kind of explains some of the tendencies in JJ's teams I've been reading about. UTEP fans are not bball ignorant, and it has taken us some time to get used to a system that really is meant to allow the players some freedom to use their athleticism. Whatever gets the W's, right?
  8. What's the deal with Houston losing so much through football? Didn't they just win the CUSA?
  9. welcome to GMG.com!
  10. I'd be curious to hear what the Raider coaches/media say now that they know about our matchup. The UNT assistant coach that spoke in the post-game radio report mentioned that this is a completely different Middle squad than the first meeting. IIRC, he said that they have gone to a bigger starting lineup. I think it's hard to gauge (sp) based on their USA win since MUTS has changed a bit as of late, and USA had lost 4 games in a row to finish the season. My honest concern is our knack for making games closer than they have to be, and playing at the level of our opponent. Our athleticism should play into our favor as teams go deeper into the tourney with us. We'll see. It's March Madness, that's for sure...
  11. I was going to ask for a confirmation source on this, but decided to not be lazy and do it myself. So for anyone that is curious, it IS an actual part of the selection process to take a regular season champion that doesn't get the NCAA invite: [link] I didn't dig too deep This is a February '06 release; so if anyone finds something more up-to-date and to the contrary, have at it! **MORE From the "NIT Principles and Procedures for Establishing the Bracket" (pdf link)
  12. My favorite part of the entire game was losing the feed with 2.4 seconds left in regulation. That rocked. Kind of like how we foul. Same difference.
  13. Congrats on knocking off USA! (I caught it, thanks Raider )
  14. I was there HOLY MOKES it was loud. UTEP will be rockin' again next season. 12K attendance would be deafening! I can only imagine what a sold out Super Pit would feel like. Not just look like: FEEL like.
  15. "Why not just have a 10 foot wall and make it thicker?" "....but our's goes to 11."
  16. There are 5,000 kids living in the dorms?!
  17. Any props for JJ and the staff for getting them prepared? I notice people are quick to bash, but not so quick to praise when we win like this. Whatever it is, congrats to everyone on taking the next step forward.!
  18. Have to agree (as much as I'd like to see someone disagree). If they're truly as arrogant as some of you elders make them out to be, then we are a simple speck to them, an insignificant institution up the road that will never truly be able to call themselves on the same level of competition as SMU (should) be. Is there a smiley for :puke:?! Because that would apply after that last statement. You know and I know that they aren't at the level they used to be, but that is not their perception nor their goal. Just like we have goals of belittling them. They had other losses, closer losses, last year outside of Denton and I doubt they are blaming UNT as THE reason they didn't go to a bowl. In fact, I'd bet they're pretty comfortable with the thought of a win against us with their starting QB playing (who they didn't have last year against us). Lets prove them wrong, and then after the win at least act like that's the way it was supposed to play out. If you want to add fuel to the "superbowl" fire and tear down the goal post, have at it. I'll be standing on the sideline treating it like an expected win. I want this to be a heated rivalry, but not an upset of a program 50 spots up in the rankings.
  19. You mean you didn't use a redshirt?
  20. Do we have the money to buy out another contract? Do we have the dignity to stop with the phrases "Pull a Dickey" and "he won't get DD'd"?
  21. Just to make ya'll feel a little bit older: I have no idea who Yale Lary is :/
  22. Article says Riley ran over 1,000 yards himself last year. holy mokes.
  23. NICE
  24. I'm calmer than you are.
