Meaningless bump of the day

What are the odds that we eventually get paired up against Memphis? I think among all the high seeds, they're usually the ripest for the picking. Such athleticism, but they have shown a tendency to play on the level of their opponent. Cal's teams play in a system that is allows the players a lot of freedom to use that athleticism. I'm not saying we're at their level, but we could give them problems. As many people have stated after seeing us for the first time: we have an unusual high level of athleticism for a team that is probably going to be seeded as low as 15 or 16. Having speculated all that, I think Memphis will be a #2 seed somewhere, which means as a #16 seed we wouldn't get them. I'm just daydreaming about possible matchups.

A school smack in the middle of one of the great high school athletic hotbeds in the entire country; not just in football but in nearly every sport. How the heck do we qualify - on any level - as a school that is not suppposed to win? (rhetoric, but feel free to answer if you like) It doesn't take genius to figure out we've been fighting institutional entities and administrative powers within our own walls for the past, what, 30 years? Put the right people in place and there's no excuse for us not to excell. I can't wait to see what JJ does with the NCAA tourney appearance, and what Dodge will put on the field. It's exciting to think we have such potential and an administration that is in place to fuel the fire.

Right. Lets tell RV to give such bad karma to potential fans and see how he reacts. Ask any athletic director at any school. They'll take fans however they come. They could walk in with SMU pullovers and kids with UT hoodies from their houses in Denia, they'd still sell them tickets if they wanted them. The more support the merrier, right?

NIT will take into consideration attendance, but not the NCAA. Those conferences get nice bball attendance numbers because most of them have no football program to speak of. It's a little bit easier to take ownership of a team when there aren't any other shows in town, or across campus for that matter.

It's weird how some of the stuff we're fighting against is stated so "matter of factly" on that thread, rather than meant as a demeaning insult. If you really want a dose of the stereotypes that UNT athletics is up against, they're in that thread. That might have been more painful for me to read than the junk they're saying on the SMU thread. **edit what am I saying? It IS more painful. The SMU talk didn't affect me at all.

Pleasantly surprised at the kind words coming from Fort Worth. It strikes me how the two schools further south on I-35s can react so differently.

There were a couple shots of JJ (including the ESPN highlights) where he looked like he was crying he was so happy. I wonder how big a monkey is off that man's back? He must be so excited at the thought of how much this win and tourney appearance can help the program's - and his own - success.
