I can't begin to explain to you how refreshing it is to know we're at least going for these kids. Kids change their mind every year for programs across the country. At least North Texas is in the mix now. When was the last time NT got mentioned on texasfootball.com for picking up it's 6th early verbal? I was just thinking that 7-5 is one of the more generous media predictions we've been given. I speculate there are some out there that know we have the talent to do some great things, and it didn't show - for one reason or another - on the field the last couple years. 7-5 is not great, but considering our last two years' performances and that Dodge has yet to do anything on the collegiate level, it's a pleasant surprise to see.

Not sure where you got that, but okay. I've actually heard that they have a higher percentage of Samoans on their roster, which associates them with a very down-to-Earth culture (but hits really hard on the field lol). Sorta-related story: I met a Samoan once. HUGE shoulders. He stood about 5'9 or 5'10, but lifted an upright piano onto his back on his own (He worked for a piano moving company). He was also barefoot, which I think is consistent with what Samoans prefer. His demeanor was so gentle and quiet. Either way, I think the only good game at Hawaii is a bowl game. The travel REALLY takes a toll on the visitor (I've heard it's 10-12 hours), and the players can get distracted and lose a game due to lack of focus.

What are your favorite preseason mags, Charlie? To be honest, DCTF has had blah blah write ups between its own covers before, so to me it's not the be-all-end-all on everything. I find that between it, Sporting News, and Phil Steele I get most everything I'll read anywhere else. I'll probably give Athlon a good look, and read what SI has to say. This would be a good thread to hear what other mags people like, and what they like about them.

I'm understanding where you guys stand. I just can't help but admit that it angers me to think at some point we're going to be in the mindset of passing over those "undersized" gems. I wouldn't care if I was UT, Ohio State, or Akron, after what I saw I would have never passed up the opportunity to recruit a Scott Hall, Brad Kassel, Brandon Kennedy, or Taylor Casey. I considered myself lucky to have witnessed them play, and am thankful Dickey put them on scholly. Is that so wrong of me?
