Approximatley, How Many Unt Football Games Have
greenminer replied to calvin's topic in Mean Green Football
19 - 20. That seems low. I'll have to look at a media guide one day and figure this out. Here's how I came to my guess-timation: Green Brigade in '99 and '01. I'm guessing that's 10-12 games, including the away trips we made. +1 for the '01 bowl, plus I went to 2-3 each year I wasn't in the band but still a student, so another +6. I've been to at least 3 games since I left Denton. -
I've always thought any kind of prejudice should be respected from both sides. If something is said and it's not meant to be racist but was taken that way, an apology or something should be said. But I think these people are being too sensitive, as if they think they're speaking on behalf of the Native Americans. But if you go to any individual part/person that is NA, do they really feel insulted?

This is turning into a horse that we've beat before. Let's just appreciate that there are fans out there, and watch what happens if/when we start winning again. Good times are coming, friends.

Wow their confidence is soaring. I hope not, but I think they're going to get a huge slap across the face regarding BCS/officials' usual bias against the Belt. I wouldn't be surprised if they hang close in one of those games and lose on a VERY controversial call.

Not to be mean, but do you say that in jest? That helmet stands out as the worst of the bunch. -

lame Same CUSA material that lost to our 2-10 Belt material. Same CUSA material that lost 41-17 to Troy in the NO Bowl. I'm a huge Miner fan and with that a CUSA lover, but SMU is really making me mad. No one really wants to say it, but I don't think anyone cares to be associated with them. They rub shoulders and dance with a bigger conference, thus "empowering" themselves to shit in the Belt's direction. But they haven't really done anything. They haven't been to a bowl since, what, the Death Penalty? UNT can shake our fist at them in victory, and the rest of CUSA West is looking over their shoulder going, "Shouldn't you be winning by now?" They couldn't beat our squad last year, which has to be an embarrassment to CUSA. Everyone questions their attendance figures. Do they even know how to count down there on the Hill, and how close are they to falling below the attendance requirement? Heck, I'll admit it: they lost to a UTEP team that lost 5-of-6 down the stretch, including bad losses to Marshall and Memphis. Bennett has his most promising season coming up. He better produce, because the entire Metroplex is starting to laugh at them.

Satellite Camps? Recruiting Tool?

It's a wonder UT isn't doing any satellites in Norman. Bring on Incarnate Word. -
Perhaps some that are more familiar with Dodge, including his days as OC in the early 90's in Denton, can tell us what things were like then compared to what his recent offense is doing. I read that during his tenure as OC, we averaged 348 yards and 26 points/game. Quite honestly, the spread offenses we're seeing in today's game is making those numbers look miniscule. Has his offense changed much then? How much was he allowed to "let loose" in Denton during his first stint? Just some things to think about. What about defense? Ron Mendoza, IMO, is underappreciated for what he put together at SLC. How long have they been working together? It seems to me that Dodge has a special blend of staff/chemistry that he developed at SLC (remember, before they were 5A he did lose some games ) into a 79-1 product. Here's hoping it translates into Denton flawlessly. Hard to believe, but 1993 was nearly 15 years ago! The game evolves, coaches learn, etc...

It'd be interesting to track his profile to see if his rating changes when he gets more offers. -
Big Xii Commissioner Calls It Quits
greenminer replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Just throwing darts randomly here: My first thought about the whole revenue-doubling thing was BCS. I don't think I need to explain. I wonder if all the recent OU allegations have had anything to do with this and the timing. Pure speculation though. Best wishes to him in the Big 10 Network. -stv -

Suspended Ut Football Player To Transfer
greenminer replied to GreenBat's topic in Mean Green Football
What evidence? All we've read about so far is about this one night. I'm with MBA, we're all subject to temptations and make mistakes. These two cars (or multiple, however many it was) appears to have happened on the same night. I'm not justifying his actions, but if he had a clean slate before this and just got caught up in the wrong crowd on one night, I think we should reserve any opinions until he shows whether or not this crowd was typical of him. I'm admittedly a little pessimistic - not necessarily just because of the attempted burglary, but also because he presented himself as someone who's only using college as a means to the NFL. As if the education doesn't really matter to him. I'm not isolating him: I know that he's not alone in that mentality. But that kind of attitude isn't indicative of someone that is going to wholy (sp) respect the college system...including the behavior, discipline, and acadamia. **edit Kind of in the same line: did anyone else read the release that Pacman Jones DNA did not match up with the supposed crimes he was a part of? espn article -
it would be funny. And their ticket count would mysteriously go up by one.

Whether or not he likes us, he seem to at least care about our opinion and those that are circulating amongst the various threads. Any AD would be a fool to turn down a donation such as this. I wish I had some give in my budget that would allow me to contribute.

co-title or not, 35-0 in Denton and they can run their mouths all they want. But those are pretty crazy things they're saying about our upcoming season. I guess they didn't see that stacked HS team in any of the title games. Westlake looked HUGE on the lines against the Dragons. I think we'll surprise some of our opposition this year. -

Recruiting; Which Positions Are The Toughest To Recruit Top-

The lines in general are the most difficult. The great ones are so rare and get snatched up quickly by the big boys. A player that has potential is still a gamble because you never know how they'll play out. -
