  1. I don't know how some of you think a win over OU would make a 1-10 season justifiable. Think long and hard about how miserable and long a 10 game losing streak would be to live through. And I'd rather be on Bourbon drinking myself silly, drowning the N.O. Bowl in Grenades, rather than sitting at home drinking myself silly watching someone else on TV represent the Belt at the bowl.
  2. Blake Cantu had 1200+ yards.
  3. Wilson had a fantastic scoring drive at the beginning of the spring game, and made some big plays with his feet. It's an element Dodge values in his QBs. I do relate to how you feel about Meager. Sometimes I speculate that Dodge is biting his tongue until Vizza gets here and shows everyone what he can do.
  4. You can see under the jersey green shoulder pads. Does that count?
  5. I speculate that Dodge is happy here until UT comes calling. Anyone else, we don't have to worry (I hope).
  6. THAT was a great play by Booger.
  7. wow

  9. Until we win, all we are to them is fancy bark and no bite. We know our odds, but I expect a different attitude when we step onto the field on September 1. That's all I ask for now. With some success down the road, I like to think UNT will be stealing some UT recruits regularly and using them to change the tide on the Sooners one day. Comparing our spread offense to Leach's system at Tech is a little ignorant. Likening it to Mizzu's would be more accurate, but I'm really hoping Dodge teaches his own offense better than Daniel and the Tigers. I also would like to admit that I'm wearing the green goggles, thus my own optimism about Mendoza and the defense. I hope they (UNT defense) prove me right. The comment I made about Stoops studying Carroll film was only meant humorously. Let them spin it however they want.
  10. Doing this isn't saying Hayden Fry shouldn't be honored, or that Dickey is more deserving. I think we should accept this as a token of appreciation for the bowl years, and nothing more. Certainly not an acceptance of mediocrity. UNT is better than that. Would all this have been okay if we had waited a few years and had already honored Fry? Fry will get his day. It is sad that money accelerated Dickey ahead of him and whomever else you had in mind, but that's our reality. If I had money to donate and they put a locker in my name, is it so different that I'd be ahead of Fry? I've got an idea: use this thread, put our money together, and ask for Hayden Fry's name instead of our's. or something like "GMG.com in honor of Hayden Fry" The black jersey act was pitiful, but it's over. We have pride for good and bad, and this is the bad. Get over yourselves. Dickey is an Aggie now. Thanks for the bowl years, DD! Have fun and be in good health in Utah.
  11. It was probably the grades 7 - 12 football/leadership camp that went on Monday through Wednesday.
  12. In a huddle offense, a player has to enter and leave the huddle to be eligable to play on the ensuing snap. How do substitution rules apply when you have a no-huddle offense? Does the offense HAVE to huddle in order for new players to take the field and be eligable? Or, if there is absolutely never a huddle, can players come and go as they please as long as there are only 11 on the field at one time?
  13. I love the imagination some of ya'll have. This thread is one of my favorites every year.
  14. A return to old form, a la Colorado '04, J-Mo on his first touch.
  15. I'm fine with this, but would still like to see something put up to honor Smith.
  16. I care. One of his better polls, imo UTEP will surprise people, but won't win it all unless Vittatoe puts everything together (assuming he's our starter).
  17. What is the reasoning behind a school suspending a player because he is charged? I know it seems ridiculous to speculate, but I would think this reinforces the idea that a player is guilty until proven innocent. Some good and bad things come to mind: 1. The school wants to prepare the team in a manner that anticipates the loss of that respective player. i.e., don't want to practice with a QB who might not be there when the season rolls around. 2. What message does this send to the player? If the charges are made, and he is completely cleared, imagine the relationship between him and the coaches when he returns. In the words of Quoner, further "down the offseason rabbit hole" I go.
  18. The last thing we have to worry about is this coach being afraid or scared of the Sooners. Certainly not timid. I think Dodge should use this as an opportunity to show the world that we mean business, and a win in this - his first game as a college coach - would skyrocket our growth progress. I hope that's the case. The only team with something to lose are the Sooners. They're supposed to win, and will know next to nothing about what we'll be bringing to the table. The first game of the season is always the best time for an upset, and this would be grand. I find it humorous to think that Stoops and Co. are sorting through high school film right now, scouting those Carroll Dragons. He probably went so far as to get tape of those Dodge-led UNT offenses in the early '90s.
  19. holy mokes. you're the man.
  20. How did "cowboys and indians" become THAT? thread link
  21. A curve seems like a reasonable request for Dickey years. After all, he could draw pretty good.
  22. I like to think we've had more talent across the board than some of our bowl years (I know some of you would beg to differ...), this was just wasted due to, well, ya'll know. Even with a little bit more discipline and some mildly creative play-calling, that would be enough for a major turn-around. I hope I'm right. The Belt is definitely deeper and tougher at the top than most - if not all - of those bowl years.
