You see, youth has nothing to do with it. Stoops is perfectly okay throwing a RS Fresh into the wolves on 9/1. It'll reveal character, build confidence, etc...

***BREAKING NEWS, BREAKING NEWS!!!***
greenminer replied to green_goblin's topic in Mean Green Football
What info? Dodge2007 proudly stood by his opinion of DM (that he would start) based on nothing the rest of us didn't already know, but then continued to discredit WW on assumptions that were IMO pretty harsh. At one point it got as bad as criticizing him for putting academics above football. D2007 knew he would either look brilliant, or apologize, take his lumps and get the pat on the back from us saying "it's cool we're all UNT fans here." Either way, he got everyone's attention which I think is what he wanted. Kind of like a troll, but on our side so he'll never actually get the boot. The irony of D2007's presumptions were that, while he denied WW could use fall practice to catch up with the team and possibly overtake DM (with a Spring practice/game under his belt), he congratulates GV - a true fresh - for only needing two weeks to grasp everything, challenge DM, and command the team's complete faith and attention. I'd also like to note that Dodge claims to have spoken to players and people who LIVE within the program, yet never once discloses the names of people he talks to. As if the players are going "SHHH you can say something but don't reveal my identity!" I've messaged several players and they've been very welcoming and open, with no reservations about revealing them as a source. I'm sorry to say, however, I don't bug the players about questionable decisions within the program or a certain player's work ethic. -

Biggest Concern Heading Into 08 And Beyond ?
greenminer replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
OH YOU MEAN PRESSING THIS BUTTON What? it's not there? It used to be there, but not anymore. Okay, sorry for the sarcasm but lets get this addressed please? I must have missed it, because I'm fairly net savy, perused everywhere on the board for it and did a search for it in the board's "help" section. no bueno. I'm not trying to start anything here and certainly not questioning the admins if they've disabled it for most users. But this isn't explained in the admin's rules, and that's all I'm asking for...an explanation or howto. thanks -
Biggest Concern Heading Into 08 And Beyond ?
greenminer replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
I've decided to void all of my future votes in these polls until I can AT LEAST understand why NT03 has this privilege, and the rest of us don't. -
I thought it was a toss up. But I suppose I'm part of the minority that thinks Vizza should not have the start just because of youth. Meager is still just a junior; if he proves himself to be effective, we get two more years of it. I'm fine with that. Sometimes I get the impression that a few here think Dodge just came in, knew of our inept offense, and signed Vizza because he didn't give a flipflop about the current QBs we had. As if Dodge is surprised Meager held on to this and is just waiting for that moment 3 games in when it's safe to drop him and let Vizza take the reigns the rest of the way.

Vick Cops A Plea
greenminer replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Is it possible the league could ban him from any consideration for future employment? -
He has 1,458 career passing yards (16 starts) with 8 (wow, only eight?) TDs. How long does it take him to surpass those numbers? I'd say he could double his career totals halfway through the season.

Vick Is A 'dog Killer'
greenminer replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Good grief ya'll need to separate things here. No one is defending the dog-fighting. It's a disgusting exploitation. Racing greyhounds doesn't seem so vicious. In my mind, training dogs to kill, and training them to race are completely different things. I think it's the aftermath that is the argument. In greyhound racing, the dogs are disposed of because they are deemed worthless by investors. This is completely disregarding whether they'd make good pets or not, because their behavior doesn't matter. They can't win races, thus they are killed. What Vick did is dispose of dogs that were bred to kill. Quite honestly, these dogs were not salvageable. I sure as hell wouldn't want to adopt something that was trained to rip into another one's neck. Wouldn't we agree those dogs that lost the fights would have been euthanized anyways? There may be extremely rare cases of something to the contrary, but I think my point still stands. So what is it about Vick burying the dogs that wouldn't have been done by somebody else? The greyhound dogs, IMO, were unjustly disposed of. What I gathered from the PETA incident I linked to is that the counties agreed to give PETA an opportunity to provide the dogs with a home. A number of the animals in that story should have been evaluated by professionals to determine if they would have been good pets. If otherwise, PETA had the go to euthanize them. The counties cut off the agreement because PETA went ahead and put them to sleep before determining anything. Over the course of a month, 80 animals were dumped dead in the trash before given an opportunity to be found a home or evaluated. Another case of either a horrible miscommunication, or disposing of animals that were merely an inconvenience to someone. just my two cents. carry on. -
switched.

sigh. and where was all this press to see off PETA employees for euthenasia malpractice (I can't think of a better term)? Vick needs to get what he deserves as determined by law, and not used by PETA as some sick poster child. -
It took you 2.5 years to come up with that? I guess he threw guacamole on your car.

He's doing great!

Cobbs is doing fantastic! A great run in the middle, shaking off would-be'ers to get the 1st. Then a 9 yard run on first down. He also ran in untouched for a TD!
