AAC Basketball 2024 Preseason Odds
greenminer replied to Ross Hodgeson's topic in Mean Green Basketball
They had massive turnover on the staff, right? Anyone that remembers care to list everyone that is gone/new? -
This is all frustrating and all, but I don't think there is any NCAA deadline that they have failed to meet. Not sure what you mean by "competitive" level, other than comparing this to the time table that our peers met.
-
"Maybe vindicating is another word, because we have believed for some time that if given the opportunity to legally pay for play we could compete at this level." well, yeah. duh. Thought: how funny would it be if Rice decided to finally commit to this game and easily match SMU"s pockets two or three times over?

I've always loved Bowl season. You're 5+ games into the MBB season, enjoying a (likely) 20+ win team find their identity, and you probably enjoy some holiday time off from work. The Stars and the Mavs are 15-20 wins into their respective seasons. If you aren't hyping yourself up for a Mean Green FB bowl game, you have time to watch some FB teams that you didn't get to check out mid season. The pressure and drama of a FB conference championship is behind you. Now the pigskin game feels different, in a good way.

He got in because of his senior year. Period. And I believe he gets in without needing the other years.
-
It is not. Evidence A: DT. It should be more than one season of success, though. If Morris finishes out this season with a bowl win and leads the country with these stats, they will put him in.
-
*plot twist* He did something egregious because they didn't give him the NIL he signed up for. (no info here. Just a possibility I have considered).
-
I'm reading that this was year 1 of his second stint.

My favorite Mean Green seasons were with a record breaking offense a savage defense. Skaladany and version 1 DeLoach were it for me.

Another Week, Another Player has a CAREER game
greenminer replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I didn't listen to the entire game, but my impression about Tulane's approach was, Sumrall challenged his team in two facets: 1) Kick UNT's ass with an incredible run game 2) Defensively, force UNT offense into long possessions. If they can't get explosive plays and score quick, they tend to sputter -
3 minutes left in 3Q and we have 50-ish rush yards as a team. Morris is knocked out of the game as of 35 attempts.

Also Andrew Smith

Tough run. I'm guessing they haven't see this kind of slump in a long time. -
Wow, huge loss for his family as well as the AAC community.

Should Caponi be fired at the end of the season?
greenminer replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
If this defense was at least serviceable, we probably wouldn't be having this convo. But here we are, with a unit so bad, that even with our current record we have an army of people that would tank the DC in a heartbeat When we let go of SL, who wasn't doing a terrible job, I just felt - and still feel - it was definitely time for a change. That it was worth the risk of getting worse. I don't get that same gut feeling yet with the DC. I worry that there are other dynamics at play, intangibles like locker room morale and togetherness, that could be negatively impacted so much that overall team performance takes a step back. I guess my Mean Green fandom has made me skeptical of "there's no way it can get worse.". Sometimes, in Denton, we've made that move...then it got worse. -

I wish it were so cut and dry, but it is not. As awful as that unit is, we are 7-2 in our last 9. Likely headed to a postseason game. I can see a coach being hesitant to pull the trigger on any staff during that kind of run.
