Put more people like Porter in the locker room, with that attitude and toughness, and watch the rest take care of itself. Not that we don't need talent, too. But Porter is a great example of how sometimes those guys sitting 4th or 5th deep can still provide incredible value to the team and locker room.

Okay, if an individual wants to see what's out there in the portal at these positions, what resources are available? Is there a website that tracks portal availability? Can I sort by position? I know they have to be out there, just wondering what y'all use. Also, any relevant x.com accounts/timelines can be linked to. I liked Mercer. I think he was the one that came in on a whim in one of our first two games and saved our asses when the starter went down. Freshman AA, too. I know the portal system is a rotating door for rosters, but this could be a tough loss. Some quality not easily replaced.

I'm not concerned about QB play. Just want to see better defense.

I guess I don't think about it that deeply. My mind isn't really dwelling on who's home stadium it is. I'm self employed, so I don't have co workers from around the metroplex hounding me about my games and any implications that come with them. It's a bowl game in Dallas. That's it. I'm not thinking about who's home it is, even though I already know that. I'm not thinking about SMU at all, and IMO it's weird that you take it that far. Maybe I'm alone. Have you seen SMU's attendance? It's not like they claim their places anyways lol.

This whole NIL/SMU in the CFP is shitty, but not jealousy shitty. Thankfully, I don't think this weird take is on our AD's radar.

All three losses thus far were away/neutral, and I feel like are 50/50 series if they continued. Plus - kinda remarkable - all 3 of those teams won 27+ games last year. It's easier to be competitive when you're in a sport managing 5 vs. 5, compared to 11 vs 11 (x 3 different units). There's just more quality further down the board. So every year you have a few schools that are playing at a high level, maybe not blue-blood level, but they can be T50 and you have never heard of them before. Additionally, like Andrew experienced above, you have this stigma among casuals that, if they haven't heard of them, they must be a high school-level school and the loss is automatically embarrassing. Oh! Then you have 352 freaking schools playing at this level. Getting to the T25 in this realm means you're in the top 7% of 352 teams. The same T25 list in CFB FBS is 19% of all teams.

It's really tough where we are at in the world of CBB. We regularly see solid ball from no-name schools, or solid programs from no-name conferences. On top of that, tough to get bigger names - familiar names - to play you. You can't really win when we win, and when you lose it's suffocating.
