  1. Bleed Green Merch! @flyonthewall, do sales help with the team's budget, or does that strictly benefit the tournament only? Maybe a balance between both?
  2. I interpreted the top ranking as, Amazing coach! Demonstrated enough to keep him here the rest of his career. If this tier is simply, Yes! Keep him one or two more years. Then I am with you. What Burton did in one year is amazing.
  3. I think Burton is still in the second tier. NT has taught me to never judge a coach by one single season (McCarney), but especially their first. For the same reason, I cringe a bit at the posters who assume too much about Kinne's first year at TxState.
  4. Helping the little guys! I think our brand recognition and appeal only helps bring attention to the little guys like SMU, A&M, ND, UT and Nebraska. We're all in this together, right? I'm okay with this.
  5. Back in my day, we had two jets.
  6. I've read two completely different takes on this, basically that either team is too good for the other and will win in 5 or less. I haven't watched enough of both sides to have my own feel-good opinion on this, so I'll just roll with the sturdy science of bias and say Mavs in 4.
  7. Edmonton could just be on absolute fire and win the Cup series in, say, 5 games. Let's see what happens in the Finals.
  8. The future is taller, that's fur shurr.
  9. They're paid to get viewership.
  10. GMG.com is equipped with a lens so powerful, it can find the differences in everything and there is no metaphor that is safe. No analogy that works.
  11. Pitchers around here throwing softballs, and then they mock the batter for taking the swing.
  12. I would think of all places that we, as a Mean Green fanbase, would understand not to jump to conclusions after a coach has one good year. Apparently, that would be wrong of me.
  13. Let's teach them to use something different. Seems appropriate in today's world. Some ideas: "All glory to God, I am taking my talents to UNT. #ThisPlaceForNow" "I am 110% halfway-in to NMSU." "Thank you Happy Valley! 110% #HereUntilTheNextPlaceTalksMeOuttaThis"
  14. Want to really mess with heads? Think about what previous generations of players would have done if the system accommodated NIL back then. Like, what would Cobbs have done? Would he have stayed at UNT? Would he have turned down a big bag of NIL?
  15. My earliest memory of an in-person CFB game was at the Sun Bowl. I remember hearing the name Toraino Singleton at RB. QB had to be John Rayborn. If you go to the year prior, it's a QB that does not sound familiar. I'll roll with Rayborn for the answer to this topic. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/texas-el-paso/1995-roster.html
  16. If the basis for this is simply "not Power conference", then sure. The scholarship allotments suggest difference is level of play, though. I know NIL has negated a lot of that at the current P5/G5 level, but I would think that once you get past a certain point, outside the bubble of the P4, the impact of NIL could be watered down and you will still see scholarship limits play into the level of competition in front of you.
  17. I have this wild, baseless belief that if they do a playoff system right for this new G5-only league, interest would increase and not decline. There are people out there already sitting on the fence, waiting for their Mean Green/G5 school to "have a chance". This could lure them over to our side. It's just a question, IMO, of how many of those people are out there? .... PS: get a G5-only league, with a nice playoff system, prioritize our resources over to MBB and get an option-oriented staff for the FB team. Could be really fun.
  18. Made the funds happen to open a restaurant when he was a third year college student. Good for him. Maybe we can learn something from this.
