  1. Yeah, SL played at OU. waiting for the right QB seems to be a recurring theme at our level. Unless you're a top tier brand that can consistently restock your linemen - particularly tackles - you need a big talent heading the offense.
  2. I thought Vizza was really stinking good at QB. I thought for sure, back in that single season where he and Riley's careers overlapped in Denton, that we would see a lot of packages taking advantage of their skills on the field at the same time.
  3. You are correct that Vizza was here for two years. Loved that dude, despite all the smoke (cough) and mirrors that surrounded his exit. Rodge flipped to be with his dad and play QB. IIRC, Longhorns offer was as a utility player and not a QB.
  4. I remember a season they live-streamed an entire scrimmage. Or was it a spring game? I clearly recall Fitzgerald scoring a TD after rolling over/across a would-be tackler on the ground.
  5. national titles have already been won!
  6. The reality is that, this fanbase has been craving for more for at least as many coaches as I've been witness to. The AD, the coaches, and Vito can't ever get everything right. I'm not saying our fanbase is wrong, just that it can be brutal. We desperately need wins. A lot of them, for a sustained time. That's when we tend to gloss over these shortcomings because sports is fun again.
  7. I'm glad someone found it helpful.
  8. Mean coaches are where it's at.
  9. I don't believe Charlotte is a good example.
  10. Well, that makes ME the one that thinks we are a good team...doesn't it? ;)
  11. Looks like they added NIL to the title. Correct, NIL money can't be from the University. I'm guessing it is okay for the AD to communicate with the (external) NIL efforts to coordinate needs. I wouldn't be surprised if you see the NCAA allow NIL money through the schools within the next 5 years.
  12. He also said assuming. If one of us cared enough, we could call the AD and ask. Stop the whole "assuming" part. We are definitely a poor AD. Just don't know how much it plays into this.
  13. I didn't say no team can win in Denton. I said teams don't want to come here and get their ass whipped. What do I mean by that? Here: I don't think it is as simple as recent win-loss records (although, there is obvious overlap). I think coaches and ADs look at brand perception, ROI (when it comes to those tournament metrics) versus the potential opponent, among other things. "Other things" that can factor in across several seasons. 5 seasons? 10 seasons? That's up to them. We are not a world beater in the eyes of the common fan, but I think under the last regime - and to a less degree under Ross - we have earned a ton of respect among coaches and ADs. More respect than teams such as Charlotte, despite the numbers you have cited. Are we unbeatable? No. But we are no-pushover and I wouldn't be surprised if they see us as a bigger risk to damage all those important NCAA metrics compared to teams like Charlotte. Obviously, there are others here - not just you - who disagree with me. But I don't think I'm alone either.
  14. Charlotte is not a recent NIT champ. And they lost int the first round of the AAC tournament. Teams don't want to come to Denton and get their ass whipped. We need to - and should - get a quality home schedule, but I get why it is hard.
  15. Are we the first major university in DFW to do something like this? I haven't seen (granted, I haven't looked either) any options for TCU/UTA/SMU brands.
  16. I think previous HC experience and being in the Leach tree were priorities going into our hire. I am curious what inspired this thread. Maybe you see something special.
  17. My Wyoming experience. That's it. That's the post.
  18. @CMJ posted years ago, towards the end of the Tony Benford era, about how he believes (and I mostly agree) that all coaches have the x-and-os in their heads to compete with anyone. The difference is basically this "it" factor: their ability to motivate, communicate, and adapt these schemes with their roster that separates the success stories from the failures.
  19. A couple times, in this upload, the questions are either mumbled or too fast. It was difficult to process what they said, but not due to any conflict with background noise. If it came to it, how about have the AD media team include transcriptions/captions? It lt looks like YT can auto-generate them on its own. Programs like Adobe Premier Pro (I have it) can auto-transcribe audio and auto-generate the text for closed captioning. I'm sure they have it, or something similar.
  20. I never thought about the timeline that way. To my knowledge, we signed Morris and then -after the fact- he voluntarily gave up some pay to have more to work with for the assistant pool. I have never heard that this was an up front offer from Morris to sell himself into the hire.
  21. I like it. Something about the immediacy of the moment, as in, we-are/were-busy! - that makes it endearing and puts me a little bit more into their world. I don't need every single release for all my news updates to be beamed to me from a neatly controlled room.
